Annual Giving at USJ

We believe in USJ to provide a no limits, awe-inspiring education for our children. Our investments in a USJ education will pay dividends tomorrow when our children are prepared for the challenges of college and for success in life.

Gifts to the NO LIMITS Annual Fund are tax-deductible and make up the difference between tuition income and the school's actual budget needs. The Annual Fund helps hold down tuition increases, provides the "extras" in programming, and assures the best learning environment possible.

It is important to have a high percentage of parental support, regardless of the amount of the gift. When USJ seeks corporate or foundation support, those donors consider whether USJ has a high percentage of families who support the school's Annual Fund. Let's pass the test and increase our support participation...

To find out more about the Annual Fund, contact Camille Jones, chairman of the development committee, at 731-784-1868; or Karen Skelton, development coordinator at 664-0812, ext. 21 or kskelton@usjbruins.org.

What are you getting from USJ’s college-preparatory environment?

• Excellent faculty devoted to USJ’s mission of helping your child reach his/her maximum potential. Learn more about our faculty...

• State-of-the-art facilities. For example, USJ has computers with Internet access in each classroom and an athletic campus that is among the best in West Tennessee.

• Successful athletic programs that develop “heart” and body. For example, in Spring 2006, USJ athletes won state championships in Boys Doubles in tennis, Girls Doubles in tennis, Boys Tennis and the 3,200 meter run. We were state runners-up in Girls Tennis and Boys Baseball.

• Outstanding opportunities in fine arts. For example, USJ often has more singers in the All-State chorus and more artwork displayed in the Brooks Museum of Art than any other school in West Tennessee outside of Memphis.

• Computer education to prepare your child for today’s world. For example, 8th graders end a quarter of computer class with a presentation to start their own business that uses a variety of computer skills, from spreadsheets to layout and design.

Academic programs that prepare students for college…
• USJ has 16 Advanced Placement courses that administer required College Board exams; USJ has a phenomenal overall AP passing rate of 89% on the exams. In 2006, 48.6% of the graduating seniors passed at least one AP exam while at USJ, and in 2007, 42.4 % of the graduating seniors passed at least one AP exam.
• The top 20% of the Class of 2007 had an average ACT of 28.6 and, most notably, the bottom 20% had an average ACT of 20.1.
• This year, one half of the seventh grade class qualified for the Duke Talent Identification program.

• Individualized Lower School reading programs in a developmentally driven curriculum.

An education for a lifetime.

Benjamin Franklin says...

Annual Giving is the happy custom of making gifts to an institution in which one has faith. It is a pooling of hope and good wishes by those who wish the institution well.
