20th Reunion, October 2008
The Class of 1988, the first graduating class from USJ after the merger of Episcopal Day School and Old Hickory Academy, celebrated its 20th reunion the weekend of October 24 and 25.
On Friday night, several classmates attended the Alumni BBQ and Homecoming game. After the game, the party moved to Picasso’s as classmates enjoyed catching up and visiting with those they hadn’t seen in years.
On Saturday, the class had a pizza picnic lunch on campus. The event was attended by alumni, former classmates, former teachers, and families. Joe Patty, former classmate, brought his ice cream truck, Brain Freeze, customized by CMT’s Trick My Truck, and treated everyone to free ice cream. The children enjoyed playing on the playground, while their parents reminisced about their days in school.
That evening, class members gathered for a buffet dinner at the Jackson Country Club. Meredith McInnis Hogue transformed the club into a flashback of the 1980s. After everyone was seated, there was a short program thanking those who helped to organize the reunion, and several awards were given out.
Amy Pearson Griffin gave a heart-felt memorial in memory of George Thomas. The class bought a memorial brick in George’s memory that will be placed on the walk in front of the Upper School.
There were classmates who traveled from as far away as California and New York. It was a perfect weekend, and everyone had so much fun.
