Tommy Russell

Upper School Geometry & Economics, US Boys Basketball Coach

Tommy Russell graduated from Jackson High School in 1968, continued his education at Rhodes College where he got his bachelor's degree in 1973, and then received his masters degree from the University of Memphis. 

Mr. Russell is also the head coach for the high school boys’ basketball team. He and his wife, Cande, have two children, Erin and Luke.  Besides Jackson, Coach Russell has lived in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Arizona. 

In 2001, Mr. Russell was inducted into the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame. In 2008, he was inducted into the Lambuth University's Athletic Hall of Fame. Russell was the Head Men's basketball coach at Lambuth for 11 seasons before moving to USJ to coach the high school boys team. When Russell joined Lambuth in 1985, he spent the next eleven years rebuilding the basketball program. Under his direction, the team improved on the previous season's record in nine consecutive years. In 1991, Coach Russsell was named Coach of the Year in the Tennessee Collegiate Athletic Conference.
