Billy Allison
Upper School English
Billy Allison has been teaching since 1969 and has been at USJ since 1995-1996. She teaches both regular and honors 9th grade English. Mrs. Allison hopes that with writing her students will communicate clearly what they are trying to say and with reading they will expand their knowledge base.
She has a bachelor of science and a masters degree in education.
With five children and five granddaughters, Mrs. Allison spends most of her free time with her family. Every six to eight weeks, she plays bridge with her high school friends.
She enjoys working at USJ because of the faculty and the students. She says, “The most important things I can teach my students are not the names of characters or authors, but to think for themselves, to analyze situations, to recognize motivation, and to make informed choices. Writing helps them know what they think and communicate it clearly. Vocabulary studies enrich their abilities to communicate dreams and ideas.”
Mrs. Allison grew up in Memphis near Graceland. She lived in Batesville, Mississippi for 25 years before moving to Humboldt in 1995.
