Tina Anderson

Third Grade

Tina Anderson has been teaching at USJ for 11 years. She has taught third, fourth, and seventh grade.  She says that her teaching philosophy is to be firm, fair, and consistent.

She has a bachelor of science in business marketing from UTM and a master of education from Freed-Hardeman University. Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Anderson enjoys reading and woodworking.

Tina and her husband, Ricky, have two children, who have both graduated from USJ. Haley, who graduated in 2007, is attending Freed-Hardeman University, and Rachel, who graduated in 2001, is teaching and working on her second master's degree at Murray State University in Kentucky.

"I enjoy teaching and watching children learn and grow," Tina says. "I like to teach in a way that makes sense to the students. While teaching USJ's curriculum, I try to link classroom lessons to real-life situations and events.  When I do my job right, the students take ownership of their own learning and begin to read and research things outside of class.  That is the beginning of a life-long learner."
