Marillyn Boggs
Sixth Grade English
Marillyn Boggs is a graduate of State University of New York, and holds a bachelor of science degree. She has more than 30 hours of post-graduate study in History and the Teaching of Reading. Mrs. Boggs has been in education for more than 35 years, and has been at USJ for 23 of those years.
Over the years, she has taught from third grade to 12th grade and several different subjects. This year, she is teaching 6th grade English.
Mrs. Boggs strongly believes in a classroom environment where students can feel comfortable, happy and challenged. “My goal is for my students to continue the development of written and oral language, develop an appreciation (and love) of reading, and to improve communication skills,” Mrs. Boggs said. “I hope to be a good role model for my students, having appropriate expectations and high standards for them.”
Collecting antiques, knitting, gardening, and sports are some of Marillyn’s interest outside of the classroom setting. You'll usually find her at the gate for USJ sporting events, collecting ticket money. Her son, Ted (Edward), graduated from USJ in 1992.
“I am so proud to teach at USJ with its outstanding academic and extra-curricular programs,” Mrs. Boggs said. “I love the family atmosphere, the quality faculty, and parents who care and most of all, I love these kids! USJ is like home to me. Who wouldn't want to teach at this beautiful school?”
