Linda Hawks, with more than 35 years experience as a teacher, is in her sixth year of teaching at USJ. Besides teaching freshman English classes, she also serves as yearbook sponsor. Before joining USJ, she worked for 32 years for the Humboldt City Schools.
Hawks has a B.S. from Middle Tennessee State University and received her masters in curriculum and instruction design from the University of Memphis.
Linda enjoys reading, traveling, and gardening. She and her husband, Mike, have been married for 36 years and have one daughter, Abbey, who lives in Charleston, S.C.
Linda loves teaching and feels that her role is to encourage the students to always want to know more. "I want my students not only to acquire an appreciation of literature and language, but also to realize that the two are reflections of their own lives and the world around them," she says.
