Jeff Johnson

Lower School Science Lab

Jeff Johnson has been an educator for 17 years. He has been a teacher and a coach at USJ for eight years. This is his third year to teach science lab to Lower School students.

Jeff has an associates of science degree from JSCC, a bachelor of science from Union University, and a masters of education in instruction and curriculum leadership from the University of Memphis.

Over the course of his teaching career, he has taught Third Grade, Fifth Grade, 8th Grade American History, and 7th Grade Tennessee History.

His goal is to have his students understand the “big picture” of whatever they are studying.

He says, “I want them to apply the information to their life in some way, whether directly or indirectly. The goal is for them to learn how to think and to process information in a way that makes them, in every sense of the word, smarter.”

Outside of the classroom, he enjoys spending time with his family, discussing political and social issues, coaching and watching football, and reading about military and religious history. He also enjoys collecting Elvis memorabilia.

Jeff is a 1988 USJ graduate.
