Mickey Marley

American Government, Head Football Coach, Athletic Coordinator

Mickey Marley is in his 23rd season as USJ's head football coach.

Coach Marley has a bachelor of science degree in communications (TV broadcasting) from the University of Tennessee at Martin and is certified in social studies and physical education. He was a four-year football player at the University of Tennessee at Martin and tri-captain of the 1979 team.

He began his career at USJ 26 years ago as Dean of Students. He was athletic director for nine years and is now one of the athletic coordinators.

His teaching philosophy is simple. He expects students to "be on time, act right, do right, and always do your best."

Coach Marley and his wife, Lisa, who teaches second grade at USJ, have two daughters, Kristen, who is 27, and Jordan, 19, who attends Mississippi State.

"I am proud to say I have coached every football player who has ever played at USJ," he says. "I take great pride in all who have played. I thank them for their loyalty, passion, and commitment."
