Lisa Marley

Second Grade

Lisa Marley has been in education for 30 years, and has been at USJ teaching first and second grade for the last 15 years. She has a bachelor of arts degree in Elementary Education from Union University.

“I believe it is my job to create a classroom atmosphere where children feel safe, encouraged, and important,” Mrs. Marley said. “It should be a place where students enjoy learning, are motivated to do their best, and know that they can always count on me to help them.”

Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Marley enjoys reading and sporting events. Her husband, Mickey Marley, is USJ’s head football coach. Her daughter, Jordan, is a 2010 USJ graduate and a freshman at Mississippi State University.

“Teaching is being able to reach each individual student, academically and emotionally,” she said. “My goal is for each student to leave my classroom with the knowledge needed for future success.”

One of the aspects that Mrs. Marley enjoys most about the USJ atmosphere is the administrative and parental support, the motivational students, and her fellow teachers.
