Sarah Pate

Kindergarten

With more than 30 years as an educator, Sarah Pate has been teaching at USJ for fifteen years. She has taught grades first and second and currently teaches Kindergarten.

Mrs. Pate has a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Greensboro College in North Carolina and has worked towards her masters degree. Her professional associations include International Reading Association and The National Association for Education of Young Children. In 2007, Sarah was inducted into Who's Who Among Teachers and Educators. Mrs. Pate also was accepted into Cambridge Who's Who among Exectuives, Professionals and Entreprenuers. Her acceptance letter from Who's Who Among American Teachers and Educators said: "Your dedication to teaching has made a positive difference in the lives of your students, and Who's Who is proud to honor you."

To help her students “soak” up as much information as possible, she makes the material come to life through such techniques as singing, poetry, dancing, and finger plays.

Mrs. Pate’s interests include golf, music, and playing bridge and bunko. An interesting fact about her is that her ancestors are originally from Germany and were violin makers. She and her husband, Dan, have two children, Chris and Bradley. Bradley is a USJ graduate and is attending pharmacy school at Samford University. Being a 'people person', she likes the teaching at USJ because of the people.
