Carrie Smith

First Grade

Carrie Smith, a graduate of USJ, has been teaching first grade at USJ for four years. She received her bachelor of science in elementary education from Mississippi State University and recently completed her Master of Education degree at Union University. She is a member of the National Education Association and the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society.

Miss Smith says, “My philosophy of education is that the students have the right to receive a good, quality education taught by a well-qualified teacher who cares about students as individuals.”

Outside of the classroom, she enjoys being outdoors, reading, water skiing, music, and spending time with her friends and family.

An interesting fact about Miss Smith is that she and her brother (also a USJ graduate) share the same birthday – five years apart. She likes teaching at USJ because of the new lower school and the excellent students, parents, and staff.
