Michelle Steen

Upper School Spanish

In her seven years at USJ, Michelle Steen has taught Spanish I, II, and III; Spanish II Honors; and Technical Writing.  Her education includes a bachelor of arts in English and masters in education, plus 18 hours of Spanish.

Her teaching philosophy includes a “communicative approach to language acquisition.”

Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Steen enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her children. She is a member of the Jackson Area Wide Soccer board and is active in her church. She and her husband, Jonathan, have four children: Matthew and twins William and Emily, who attend USJ; and David, a future Bruin.

She enjoys teaching at USJ, she says, "because the students are excited and willing to learn a foreign language and my colleagues are top notch!"
