Edgar Willis

Middle School History
Edgar Willis graduated from Huntingdon High School in 1987. While at HHS, he was active in Student Government and was an offensive tackle on the football team. After high school, he attended Lambuth University. He played football and started at left offensive tackle, helping Lambuth win its first season in 1987. He received his bachelor of science degree from Lambuth in 1992. After graduating, he served as a graduate assistant in 1992 and 1993.
In 1996, he became Head Middle School Football and Varsity Track Coach at USJ. As a Middle School Football Coach, he has led teams to seven Volunteer Conference Championships. His teams' combined record over this time period is 85 wins and 30 loses.
In 2001 and 2002, he was selected as the Best of the West Track Coach of the Year. He has coached girls' track teams that placed in the Top Ten in the state in 2005 and 2006. In 2009, the girls' two-mile relay team was state champion and in 2010, he had a state champion in the boys' 400-meter run.
In the classroom, Willis teaches sixth grade history. In 2000, he was selected as Middle School Teacher of the Year. His classroom goal is to make his students overall better students. He teaches that it is hard work that solves many problems. His rules are simply: act right and do right.
Coach Willis and his family attend Huntingdon Christian Fellowship Church where he serves as deacon and associate minister.
He is married to Kim Hampton, a surgical technologist in Huntingdon. They have three children, Alyssa, Caleb and Morgan, all students at USJ.
