Kathy Wood, USJ's Middle School Director, continues to teach an Algebra I class.
Mrs. Wood began her career as an educator in 1974. She began as a teacher in the Jackson City School system, but most of her experience has been with independent schools. She came to Old Hickory Academy to teach in 1985 and remembers the excitement surrounding the beginning years of USJ.
She also has worked for independent schools in Michigan and New York. In her work for these schools, she has been Math Department Chair, a Freshman Dean, and a Housemaster, a teacher selected by faculty to be in charge of academic advising and discipline for part of the student body.
Mrs. Wood graduated from MTSU with a bachelor degree in mathematics, and minors in science and education. She started graduate work toward an M.Ed. in Administration through Memphis State University, before her relocation to New York and Michigan. In 2006, she began work on a master's degree in education (M.Ed.) from Union University and completed that degreee in August 2007.
