Shay Young

6th and 7th Grade Math, Middle School Student Council Advisor

Shay Young teaches seventh and eighth grade math.

She has been teaching for 22 years and has been teaching math at USJ for the past 10 years. Shay has a bachelor of science in elementary education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, and a masters in administration and supervision from the University of Memphs. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

"My desire as a teacher is to provide a positive learning experience for my students and to encourage enthusiasm for lifelong learning," she says.

Shay has three children: Haley, a 2004 USJ graduate; and Rachel and Reid, both 2007 USJ graduates. "I have been involved with the USJ community as a parent or teacher for about 20 years," she says. "It has been a wonderful experience."
