Ethan Hurst swims with Olympic Gold Medalist, Ian Crocker.
On September 10, 2011, Ethan Hurst, a 5th grader at USJ, attended the Mutual of Omaha's Breakout! Swim Clinic at the Germantown Athletic Club in Germantown. Ethan is a member of the Germantown Gators and the satellite team here at the local Jackson YMCA, coached by Kathy Kinton and assistant coach Cherie Tung.
Ethan had the privilege of attending a four-hour clinic taught by two guest swimmers, nationally recognized, Dagny Knutson, and five time Olympic medalist, Ian Crocker. Crocker also holds several world records. Ethan not only got to swim against the amazing swimmers, but he also got to wear Crocker’s Beijing Olympic Gold Medal. Ethan was even more thrilled when Crocker referred to him as a “speed demon” and gave him a high-five.
Ethan has been swimming competitively since he was six and a half years old. Ethan wishes to make a career out of swimming. So far, Ethan has qualified and attended three Southeastern Championships; two long course championships, both of which were hosted by Pilot Aquatic Club and at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville Student Aquatic Center; and one short course Southeastern championship in Nashville, which was hosted by Nashville Aquatic Club at the Tracy Caulkins Competition Pool.

Dear Mr. Froggy!
I would like to nominate my homeroom teacher, Ms. Davis. She is a 5th grade teacher at USJ. I think that she is awesome because she doesn’t give us a lot of homework and she is just super sweet. She’s been through a lot this school year, but she’s been at school as much as she can and always puts her students first!
Please consider making Ms. Davis one of Mr. Froggy’s Number One Teachers during National Teachers week. She definitely deserves it, as do lots of other teachers!
Thank you Froggy 104! Breana Hornburger
