Lower School Library

240 McClellan Road

The Lower School Library, completed in 2004, contains more than 15,000 volumes of books and media and serves pre-school through fifth grade. All classes have a scheduled library period each week. The library also is open to all students every morning from 7:30–8:30 a.m. and every afternoon from 2-4:00 p.m. 

The Lower School Library supports the Accelerated Reading Program with more than 7,800 tests and an AR store that opens at the end of every quarter for the students to spend the points they have earned. Check out the Accelerated Reader list of books...

Scholastic Book Fairs are exciting events at the Lower School Library. The fall fair is scheduled for September 18–27, with Family Night on Monday, September 18.  The spring fair is February 5-9!

Library Hours

Monday–Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Summer Hours: June and July, every Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; storytime in the reading well at 10:30 a.m.; special guests at 2 p.m.

Author Visits

Author Michael Shoulders, above, visited the USJ Lower School in February to share his love of writing with students. He talked about the writing and publishing processes, while sharin several books that he has written. He entertained everyone with his performance. Author Jim Aylesworth visited USJ last May to talk to both Upper and Lower School students about writing. He shared stories, poetry, and songs with Lower School students. Ayelsworth, who has written 30 children's books, talked about the writing process. He also signed copies of his books for students.
