Middle School displayed in May
Their works of art may not be hanging next to a Picasso or Monet yet, but University School of Jackson Middle School art students got to experience the thrill of seeing their masterpieces matted and displayed in a gallery setting. For the second year, art instructor Anna McPeake held a Middle School Art Show at the Painted Lady, 415 E. Lafayette St., in downtown Jackson. The show opened with a reception from 5-8 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2011. The artwork was displayed through Friday, May 13.
"Every art student was encouraged to select a work to be included in the show," said McPeake. "When students see their selections on display, it gives them the opportunity to really take pride in their work. It makes them feel special, and it puts them and their accomplishment in the spotlight."
