All-West Tennessee Football Honors 2011

The Jackson Sun named Lee Mayhall All-West Tennessee Player of the Year. Mayhall finished with 2,740 total yards via 1,416 receiving yards on 116 receptions, 702 yards on 99 rushes and 622 on punting and kickoff returns. He reached the end zone 42 times, was named All-State each of the past three seasons, was a finalist for Division II-A Mr. Football Back of the Year, was invited to the East-West All-Star Classic, and was named his district's player of the year. He owns three confirmed TSSAA records for most receptions in a game, most receptions in a season, and most receptions in a state title game.

The Jackson Sun also awarded Chase Hensley with the first-ever All-West Tennessee Lineman of the Year.
Representing USJ in the First Team Offense is Ryan Garner, Chase Rushing and Chase Nelson, while Adam Boling represents USJ in the Second Team Offense.

 

2011 State Championship Game

USJ finished its season as state runners-up. With an 11-2 record, the Bruins lost to St. George's in the Division II-A championship game. The Bruins earned the chance at the state title by beating Knoxville Webb, 48-27, in the semifinals. Knoxville Webb had won the last two state championships.

The football team's 45 to 7 win over SBEC on October 22, 2010, gave Coach Mickey Marley his 200th win. Coach Marley started coaching at USJ in 1986. He is in his 22nd yeard as head football coach.

In 2008, he was named Coach of the Year by the Southwest Football Officials Association. The tribute is based on a vote of public and private school coaches in the Jackson area.
