USJ Holiday Mart Bake Shop
We Need Your Homemade Baked Goods for the Holiday Mart Bakeshop! The more you bake, the more we make!!!
What Sells Well? Remember store bought items can not be sold!
Bake your favorites...but, here are a few suggestions:
Pies: pecan, fudge/derby, pumpkin, fruit, coconut
Cakes: strawberry, layered specialty, coconut, carrot, pound
Candies: divinity, fudge (all types), any homemade candy
Breads: (homemade only) rolls, cranberry, banana nut, cinnamon rolls
Specialty Treats: cheese straws, sugar free items
Individually Wrapped: cookies, brownies
Baskets: homemade foods in gift baskets
How Do I Package My Baked Goods?
Wrap in CLEAR cellophane or CLEAR plastic wrap (anything in color needs to be re-wrapped!). Please do NOT price your items. Label your item and please indicate if it contains nuts or has already been frozen. Adding festive ribbons, ornaments, tags and the recipe with the baker's name helps items sell better! Items displayed on festive plates sell quickly. It is best to individually wrap cookies and brownies (they make great snacks for shoppers).
Where Do I Take My Baked Goods?
You may drop off your baked goods during MORNING carpool at the Lower and Upper school on Thursday November 18th & Friday November 19th. Look for volunteers who are loading their trunks. You may also drop off any time during the Holiday Mart at the Civic Center.
How Much Will Bakeshop Get For My Items?
It really depends on the item. One item may sell for $10 and the same item packaged creatively can sell for twice that amount. However, pies typically sell for $10; cakes sell for $12-$28 depending on if it has layers and what type of cake it is and if it is on a plate. If you need a cake dome to keep your frosting in place, please call one of us! Specialty candies can sell from $8-$15 per dozen. Breads sell for $4-$12 depending on the variety and the size.
What Happens To My Items If They Don't Sell?
We have sold out of everything the last several years. If anything is left, it is taken to RIFA.
