USJ Holiday Mart Bake Shop

What is the Holiday Mart Bakeshop?

The Holiday Mart Bakeshop is the largest, most elaborate bake sale you’ve ever seen! The Bakeshop is also a significant money maker for the Holiday Mart (and USJ!) The Bakeshop will only be successful if everyone participates.

We ask that all families participate by baking 5 items for the Bakeshop.
You may participate in several ways: (1) Bake individually, (2) Attend a Bakeshop Workshop (look for upcoming announcements), or (3) Host a Bakeshop Workshop (contact Michelle McFarland at 668-7625 or 431-2763 or e-mail at mom.3kids@charter.net.) The final option is to pay $50 in lieu of baking.

What is the Bakeshop Participation Contest?
The more you bake, the more we make!! And, we reward the most productive classes!
Children at the Lower, Middle Schools, and Upper Schools are eligible to participate. The class (each class level in Cubs-5th) with the highest class participation percentage will win a Breakfast/Donut party (time/date TBA). In addition, the winning class will receive a NO HOMEWORK day (for Lower School only) and a DRESS DOWN day. The winning class teacher will also receive a $25 gift certificate to be used for a class need.

For the Middle and Upper School, the winning Advisory Group in each grade 6th-12th will have a DRESS DOWN day.

Attached is a participation form in pdf format. Only one form needs to be submitted per family. On the form, you will indicate how you participated or you may attach your $50 check. All participating families will be entered in a random drawing for a $50 gift certificate from Parker Uniforms.

What Sells Well?
Bake your favorites...but, here are a few suggestions:
Pies: pecan, fudge/derby, pumpkin, fruit, coconut
Cakes: strawberry, layered specialty, coconut, carrot, pound
Candies: divinity, fudge (all types), any homemade candy
Breads: (homemade only) rolls, cranberry, banana nut, cinnamon rolls
Specialty Treats: cheese straws, sugar free items
Mixes: teas, cocoas, cookies (with recipes)
Individually Wrapped: cookies, brownies
Baskets: homemade foods in gift baskets

How Do I Package It?
Please wrap in CLEAR plastic wrap (anything in color wrapped has to be re-wrapped). Adding CLEAR cellophane, ribbons, tags, and recipes with baker’s name helps the items sell better. It is best to individually wrap cookies and brownies (they make great snacks for shoppers!)

Where Do I Take the Baked Goods?
You may drop off your baked goods during MORNING carpool on Thursday, November 19 & Friday, November 20. A volunteer will come to your car door. Look for volunteers that are loading their trunks. You may also drop off anytime at the Civic Center during the Holiday Mart.

Questions? Janet Brown, 225-2211; Carol Venable, 617-1466; Wenesday Ketron, 668-7574; and Melissa Zerfoss, 217-1851

Special Thanks to Regional Hospital of Jackson for sponsoring the Bakeshop!
