Holiday Mart T-Shirt Contest for Upper and Middle School Students
The USJ Mother's Club is pleased to announce a new tradition for our annual Holiday Mart. A USJ student will design the artwork for the back of the t-shirt. The theme of the 2010 Holiday Mart is "Celebrating 40 Years of Holiday Splendor." We encourage all USJ Upper and Middle School students to participate. The deadline to turn in artwork is TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH. Please see your art teacher for additional guidelines for design. If you have any questions please call Kara Hill at 234-2427.

Moms In Touch Ladies Prayer Group
All ladies are invited to attend our Moms In Touch Ladies Prayer group that meets for one hour each week to pray for our children and our school. We meet on Wednesday mornings immediately after morning carpool at the Prayer Garden, which is located behind the high school gymnasium. On rainy or cold days, we meet at the Football Field House.

Don't forget to use that Kroger Card! We are receiving an estimated amount of $1,400 per month for just reloading, and using your USJ Kroger Cards!!! Just ask your Kroger cashier to reload your card before you start checking out, it is that simple!

8th Grade Appreciation Night for Fall Sports
There will be an 8th grade appreciation night for all 8th grade athletes, band members and cheerleaders for fall sports on September 30th, beginning at 6:15 p.m. Each student will be given a biographical form with their name on it from their coaches. Each student will be recognized on the football field with their parents. Christensen will be taking pictures. Come out and support the Bruins on 8th Grade Appreciation Night, September 30th at 6:15 p.m.
Sixth Grade Girls Open Gym
Hello Parents-
I am opening the gym for any 6th grade girls interested in playing basketball next year (2011-2012) to come and shoot/practice with a few of our current middle school team players a couple days a week during the month of September.
Open gym will be held on the dates listed below:

This is strictly an opportunity for your daughter to come play with some of the current middle school players, work with me on fundamentals and skills that will help them improve their basketball game, and learn more about our program. They will still be subject to tryouts next Spring in order to make the middle school team.

Yearbook Sale...
Yearbook sale will begin September 27. Please do not send in any oders before that date. Last night at Orientation was a pre-sale for one night only. The books will be on sale for $80 beginning Sept. 27 through October 7, 2010.

After School Art
The following sessions will be offered for the 2010-2011 school year. Classes will meet from 3:15-4:15 and all supplies and snacks are included. Students can sign up for 1 or more sessions.
STAINED GLASS: September 1, 8, 15 & 22
Cost: $65
Students will make stained glass jewelry, magnets, coasters, etc. that will be fired in the kiln. They will take home 4-6 completed pieces.
CLAY: October 6, 13, 20 & 27
Cost: $65
Students will make hand-built pots, thrown pots on the potter’s wheel and make ceramics. They will glaze the finished projects and take home 3 completed pieces.
PAINTING: January 5, 12, 19 & 26
Cost: $60
Students will experiment with several acrylic painting techniques that will focus on texture and shading. There will be 2 completed paintings to take home.
SCULPTURE: February 2, 9, 16 &23
Cost: $60
Students will use wire and clay to create sculptures. There will be a completed self-portrait wire sculpture and a clay animal sculpture to take home.
