Frequently asked questions:

General Shopping Questions

1. When is the next sale? What are the drop-off and pick-up dates?

For all dates and times, check here.

2. Where is the sale being held?

Our sales are at USJ, 232-240 McClellan Road in Jackson. Directions...

3. Is everything "half price" at the Half Price Sale?

Unfortunately, not everything at the half price sale is priced at half price.  Consignors choose which items they will sell for half price. During the half price sales, Saturday and Sunday, all items that are designated to "Discount" will be priced at 1/2 off the marked price. A great majority of the items are discounted to sell at half price.

4. Can I bring my kids to the sale?

Children are welcome to come with you to the sale, but we ask that they not  accompany you to the Consignor or Volunteer Pre-Sales.   In addition, we ask that you keep them supervised at all times and not allow them to open toys.

5. Will shopping carts or bags be available?

We do not have carts or bags, but you are welcome to bring your own laundry basket.  (At our fall sale, we will be selling a limited number of plastic laundry baskets.)

6. What kinds of items will you have at the sale?

We never know exactly what merchandise will be at our sale, but we can tell you what we accept from our consignors. We accept women’s (including maternity), children’s, and for the first time, men’s clothing. We also accept toys, games, books, sporting goods, electronics, CDs, DVDs, computer games, nursery furniture/decor/bedding/, infant items, purses, belts, and shoes. Infant items generally means anything for babies from strollers to diaper warmers, so if you are a new or expectant mother you should find a great selection of nursery items.

Volunteer Questions

1. Can I work at Wee Exchange and get preferential shopping times?

Yes! It takes lots of people to make this event run smoothly and we’d love to have you on our team. All of our workers are volunteers, and they do this for a special reason: premier shopping times! If you are willing to work a minimum of six hours, you can shop at the special Workers-only pre-sales event. This is scheduled the night before the Consignor-only pre-sale and gives our workers first shot at all the good stuff. The more hours you work, the earlier you get to shop.

2. Are workers only needed during the sale?

No, workers are needed before, during and after the sale.

3. What if I signed up to work a shift, but something comes up and I can not make it?

We rely greatly on our volunteers to help us have a successful sale. We have to trust that you will fulfill your obligation to work your shift. Please do not cancel your shift unless it is truly an emergency. If you know in advance that you will not be able to work your shift, try to get a replacement.  If you cannot get a replacement, let us know that you will not be working your shift.

4. What if I shopped at the Volunteer Pre-Sale but now I can't work a shift I signed up to work?

We do monitor the hours of the volunteers who shop the Pre-Sale. If you can not work a shift, perhaps there is a different shift that stills needs to be filled? As soon as you know you will not be able to work a shift, try to get a replacement and let us know.

5. Why should I volunteer to work the sale?

There are many good reasons to volunteer your time and talent! Your contributions to the sale make it a better sale. You get to meet new friends or catch up with old ones. It gets you out of the house for a few hours. You can earn early shopping benefits. The sale is a major fund raiser for USJ, so if you are a USJ parent, it helps your child's school.

Consignor Questions

1. What are the advantages of being a Wee Exchange consignor?

Wee Exchange’s reputation for selection and quality brings in the largest number of shoppers of any consignment sale in Jackson – that means more sales for you! Wee Exchange aggressively promotes our sales, bringing in more shoppers – more sales for you! In addition to great sales for you, as a consignor you get preferential shopping times. We have scheduled a special Consignor only pre-sale. We’ll even let you invite one guest to this special event.

2. How do I become a consignor?

It’s easy!
• First, click here to get your new automated registration number. You will need to remember this number and your password. It will be emailed to you when you register, but if you want to work with your account right away, write it down as it may take a while to get your email.
• Second, you click on the "Consignor Home Page" link at left. Log in and then click on the "Work with Consigned Inventory" link and add your items to your inventory. You must have a minimum of 15 acceptable items. To make sure you have the most successful sale possible, please review the Tagging and Guidelines pages. If you still have questions, please don’t hesitate contact us a WeeExchangeSale@aol.com.

3. What does it cost me to be a consignor?

Wee Exchange charges a 35% commission fee for our services. That means that consignors will receive 65% of the selling price for all items sold. In addition, to help defray the cost of advertising, we will deduct a $7 flat fee from your total earnings, for an unlimited number of items. Consignors are paid by check, usually when they pick up their unsold items. If they do not pick up unsold items, their check will be mailed. Checks are calculated as follows: Take the total amount you sold and multiply that times 65%. Deduct the $7 flat fee. That is the amount of your check.

4. How many items can a consignor bring to the sale?

Consignors may bring as many items as they like. They pay a flat fee of $7 for an unlimited number of items.

5. Are there special shopping times for consignors?

Yes. We schedule a special Contributor pre-sale to benefit our consignors. Due to insurance and crowd size, no children should be at the pre-sale. They are welcome at the regular sale times. The sale is held the Thursday before the Public Sale from 5-8 p.m. At drop off, each consignor receives a pass to this event. In addition, each contributor is issued a Guest pass. The guest pass admits ONE person to the guest sale, which is from 6-8 p.m. that same night. You MUST present these passes for entry to the sale. Please check out our Dates and Times for the schedule for these special events.

6. How should I tag my items for Wee Exchange?

Please see our detailed tagging instructions on how to tag you items for the Wee Exchange.

7. My tags print fine except the description field, which is gibberish. What's causing this?

There is a bug in the Mozilla Firefox 3 browser which causes it to have problem printing in certain scenarios. The tag looks fine on the screen, but when it is actually sent to the printer the text comes out in weird letters and symbols. These strange characters typically appear in the description field.
Firefox does not have a fix out for this that we am aware of.  You will need to use a different browser (such as Internet Explorer) to do your tag printing.  You can use Firefox to do everything else, but when you print tags, you have to use Internet Explorer.

8. How/when will I get paid for my sales at Wee Exchange?

All consignors can receive their check on pick-up night when they pick up any unsold items.

9. What happens to items that are not sold during the sale?

There is one day scheduled for consignors to pickup any items not sold during the sale.  Items not picked up by designated time are considered "unclaimed" and automatically become property of USJ Mother's Club and may be donated to benefit USJ/local charities. Please check the "DONATE" box if you wish to donate your item should it not sell when entering your item into inventory. After your tags are printed, you will need to highlight (using a yellow highlighter) the word "DONATE" on the cards of the items you wish to donate. If you do not wish to donate your unsold item(s), please do not check the donate box!!!Please refer to Dates and Times for the pick-up schedule.

10. What happens if I do not pick up my unsold items?

Any items that are not picked up will automatically become property of the University School of Jackson Mother's Club.  These items are further donated to benefit USJ/local charities.

11. Can I bring a guest with me to the Contributor Sale?

Yes. Please refer to question 5.

12. What happens if I print a tag and then decide to change the price or some other information? Do I need to reprint my tag?

Yes, you should reprint your tag, but as long as the information on your tag matches your inventory, we will sell the item.  In other words, if you decide to change the price of an item on your tag AND EDIT THE PRICE in your inventory so it matches the scanned price, we will sell it for that price.  If you make a change to your tag and it does not match your inventory data, we will NOT sell your item.  This is for YOUR protection, as anyone can bring a pen to the sale and mark down prices.  Pen and ink changes are only acceptable for PRICE, DISCOUNT and DONATE options and the change MUST be reflected in your inventory.  Any changes to description will result in an item being pulled from the sale and not sold.

13. Will you accept all the items I bring?

Not necessarily. We are committed to having only high quality merchandise in our sale, so we have strict guidelines as to the items we will accept. The lighting is different at Receiving so stains that were not visible at home, become visible.  Please do not be offended if we ask you to take an item home. This is for your benefit! You are part of a sale that has a great reputation for quality.  That means more shoppers, who are willing to pay more for quality, will shop our sale and buy your merchandise!

14. What happens if I pick up my unsold items and there is an item missing?

Please review the "lost and found" area before you leave pick-up. Any items that were discovered to be missing a tag will be held there. We make every effort to secure and protect your property, but occasionally and item is lost, stolen, damaged or mis-sorted.  Unfortunately, we can not be responsible for these items.  We apologize for any inconvenience.
