Our Campus

USJ’s campus sits on 130 acres in northwest Madison County. The campus features a Lower School for infants through fifth grade, a Middle and Upper School facility, and an extensive athletic complex. 

The Middle School and Upper School building features two separate wings for sixth grade through eighth grade and ninth grade through 12th grade. Both wings share a centralized library, media center, 500-seat performing arts center, four science labs, and extensive athletic facilities, including an indoor turf and strength & conditioning room.

The Lower School facility features extra large classrooms clustered by grade, two gymnasiums, two outside playgrounds, an eco-learning system that includes a pond and weather station, a cafetorium that doubles as a cafeteria and auditorium with a stage, and a library that features over 25,000 books. Students also have access to separate classrooms for enrichments including art, music, technology, world languages, character education/guidance, and hands-on science.

Lower School

Along with the extra large classrooms, the lower school features an eco-learning system that includes a pond and weather station. Students also have access to separate classrooms for enrichments including art, music, technology, STEAM lab, world languages, character education/guidance and a hands-on science lab.

LS Cafetorium

Students in Jr K - 3rd grade perform their annual musical in the Cafetorium. The stage, equipped with professional staging curtains, stage lighting and sound, is housed inside our lower school cafeteria. During our musicals, the cafeteria is transformed into a theater where our students perform for their families.

Mary Frances Campbell Library

The Mary Frances Campbell Library is a vital and exciting part of the school community.  The recently renovated library now offers collegiate inspired spaces for our students by providing small group areas, a quiet study room, individual work areas and also two write-on walls for collaborative study.  Our new Bruin Café offers snacks and drinks for students before school and during break time.

The Dement gymnasium hosts our boys and girls' basketball games, as well as our Lady Bruins volleyball games.

The Upper and Middle School school campus share two gyms with full size courts, but the Dement Gymnasium is where our boys and girls’ basketball and volleyball games take place. With plenty of seating for our Bruin fans and visitors, the Dement Gymnasium also hosts outside tournaments and Bruins athletic camps.

Soccer Field

Our soccer field has also seen recent improvements with new bleachers and a retaining wall that brings our fans closer to the playing field to enhance visibility. Covered areas were built for both home and visiting teams. Along with a new seating area, a press box was built with storage for team equipment.

John H Weston, Jr Golf & Tennis Center

The University School of Jackson recently announced the addition of the John H. Weston, Jr. Golf & Tennis Center. The 3,000 square foot facility, currently under construction, will boast golf and tennis locker rooms, two Trackman Golf Simulators, a putting green, restrooms, coaches’ offices, and a spectacular view from the covered front patio overlooking the eight tennis courts.

LS Science Lab

The science curriculum is enhanced by a hands-on science lab offered to First Grade through Fifth Grade. Students get to interact with live animals, dissect frogs and study different objects through a microscope. Curriculum taught in the science lab directly aligns with each grade level and their current area of study.

LS Playgrounds

The new Early Childhood playground includes cutting edge age-appropriate equipment, covered play areas, turf grass, climbing hills, tunnels, velocity slides and a small soccer field. The First through Fifth-Grade playground will feature two full outdoor basketball courts, a turf football field and an “American Ninja Warrior” style agility equipment with button steps, a virtual tunnel, and climbing tower.

Blankenship Theater

USJ's Blankenship Theater is a 500-seat theater with a spacious stage for performances. The updated stage lighting and sound system enhances our plays, concerts and musical theatre productions.  With two dressing rooms backstage, outside groups from all over West Tennessee rent the facility for their shows.

When the Bruins step out under the Friday night lights, they do so on a newly renovated turf field equipped with striping for a soccer field. Schools from across West Tennessee make their way to Kirkland Field for our new track that surrounds the football field. Along with our new improvements, we have an amazing 11’ x 21’ Jumbotron in the midst of our scoreboard.

The new Betty & Donald Newman Championship Courts is the latest addition to the Imagine More Campaign. The new Bruin tennis complex includes an expansion in the number of tennis courts from six to eight, in addition to the new location adjacent to the USJ Lower School. A Golf & Tennis Complex being built next door will house lockers for our tennis players.

STEAM Lab

The Lower School STEAM Lab is a space for exploring, making, failing, fixing and trying things in a different way. Students are encouraged to take on unfamiliar and challenging projects in teams as they utilize their critical thinking, communication and collaboration skills.

The middle and upper school students have access to a turf room for strength and conditioning.

MS/US Campus

USJ's Middle School and Upper School campus share two gymnasiums, a cafeteria and the newly renovated library. Our performing arts students have access to a professional theater, a separate band room, along with a choir room for classes. USJ has four science labs, two per campus, and an extensive athletic facilities, including an indoor turf and strength & conditioning room.

The $1 million facility includes approximately 6,000 square feet and consists of two varsity Lady Bruins locker rooms, three middle school locker rooms, a dedicated middle school restroom, and a dedicated varsity restroom fitted with showers and vanity tops. The custom wood lockers have individual electrical and USB charging ports in each locker. The energy-efficient, state-of-the-art facility is constructed of long-serving brick, block, and steel. Also, included is a coaches/training lounge and two multi-use visitor locker rooms with separate outside access.

The newly renovated baseball stadium has a new and improved seating area and press box. With covered dugouts and an 8’ x 15’ Jumbotron, our stadium is welcoming to Bruins fans and guests. Players have direct access to the locker room with an indoor practice area that has 2 full bullpens and 3 cages, along with hitting/pitching Rapsodo® technology for player development.

Located on the second floor behind the Dement Gymnasium, students have access to an indoor turf and strength and conditioning room.  This provides our athletes with year-round opportunities to enhance their skills.
