Alumni Updates

Rachel Aristorenas, a member of the varsity soccer, track, softball, and basketball teams, served as captain of the basketball team for which she received All-District Honorable Mention in 2016, “6th Man Award,” “Defensive Player of the Year Award,” and “The Bruin Award.” A 2016 recipient of the Silver Key Award in the Mid-South Scholastic Art Awards, Rachel was the secretary of the National Art Honor Society. In addition, she was a Lights|Camera|Fashion Top Model in 2015. Rachel will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and major in marketing and interior design.

Allison Banks, AP Scholar with Honors, will major in biology at the University of Memphis. Allison was involved in theater productions, band, and choir and was named to the All-Northwest Junior High Honor Choir. She was also a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri-M, and Social Studies Honor Society and participated on the Science Bowl Team and in the National French Contest, Le Grand Concours. She served as vice president of the French Club her junior year and danced with Ballet Arts from 2012-2014.  

Summer Basham, Salutatorian and AP Scholar, will major in biology and Spanish at Union University. Summer was involved in numerous theater productions and choir, played varsity soccer, was SGA Historian, and was a member of numerous clubs, organizations, and academic honor societies. Summer was a three-year Homecoming Representative, a six-year member of All-Northwest Honor Choir, a representative at Girls’ State, a Jackson Symphony Ambassador, a Junior Rotarian, and a participant in the USJ study abroad program in Costa Rica. She was voted Miss USJ by the senior class and was recently selected by the faculty to the 2016 USJ Hall of Fame.

Renee Bearb will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and major in business. Renee was a member of the National Honor Society and was involved in the Key Service Club, SADD Club, Art Club, and French Club. Renee received the highest chemistry and English average sophomore year and the highest French average junior year. Renee received her UTK acceptance letter directly from UTK Chancellor Jimmy Cheek when he came to USJ as part of the Big Orange Bus Tour. 

Kayla Bircher plans to major in speech pathology at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri-M, and Social Studies Honor Society. Kayla also participated in theater productions and choir and served as president of the French National Honor Society and vice president of the French Club. She was named as a Head of School Scholar, maintaining a 4.0 GPA or higher all four years.

Mitchell Bodiford, varsity football captain in 2015, will attend the University of Memphis and major in veterinary medicine. Mitchell played varsity football and baseball and ran track. He was a two-time All-State and All-District Football selection, West Tennessee Sophomore of the Year, The Jackson Sun Super Senior, and All-State Strong Safety. Mitchell was voted “Most Athletic” by the senior class and was the 2015 Homecoming King. 

Kalyn Boyd, a graduate of Leadership University, will attend Murray State University in the fall and plans to major in nursing and minor in psychology. She was involved in varsity cheer and track. Kalyn was a member of the International Club, Key Service Club, Environmental Club, Spanish Club, and Operation Smile Club. She was selected as a Jackson Symphony Ambassador and participated in the Lights|Camera|Fashion Show to benefit St. Jude.

Tricia Burtt plans to study geoscience at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Tricia’s acceptance letter was hand-delivered to her by UTK Chancellor Jimmy Cheek as part of the Big Orange Bus Tour. Tricia was active in the Madison County Teen Court and served as speaker. She was a member of the Science National Honor Society, Art Club, Key Service Club, Spanish Club, served as secretary of Environmental Club, was a USJ varsity cheerleader, and was involved in theater productions. Tricia won the art department’s Photography award in 2014.   

Shea Byrum, a USJ Scholar, will pursue a degree in biomedical engineering at Mississippi State University. Shea was involved in theater productions and USJ Concert Choir and was a two-time All-Northwest Honor Choir selection. He was a three-year participant of the POPS Concert and was a soloist his senior year. Shea devoted many hours to community service in high school, including a mission trip to Ohio. Departmental awards include the French II certificate and participation in the National French Contest, Le Grand Concours. 

Suzanna Camp, an AP Scholar, will attend Texas Christian University in the fall and major in biology. Suzanna served as president of the National Honor Society, secretary of the National English Honor Society, and was a member of the Science National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Social Studies Honor Society. She also completed the Spanish study abroad program in Costa Rica. Suzanna participated in theater and school clubs and played varsity soccer and tennis. She was a member of the 2013 Soccer State Championship Runner-Up team, was selected to the All-West Tennessee Tennis team, and received All-West Tennessee Soccer Honorable Mention. Suzanna was on the State Champion and Region Finalist team in 2013 with Jackson Futbol Club and was named a 2016 Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame Athlete of the Year. She was also recently selected by the faculty to the 2016 USJ Hall of Fame. 

Catherine Campbell will study psychology at the University of Mississippi. Catherine was active in Young Life, Key Service Club, International Club, varsity cheer, cross country, volleyball, track, and church league basketball. Catherine modeled for Lights|Camera|Fashion benefiting St. Jude, was on the nationally ranked cheerleading squad, and was voted “Most Beautiful” by her classmates.  

Logan Carey will play baseball for Louisiana Tech University and major in kinesiology. He participated in varsity baseball and football and in theater productions. Logan served as vice president of the Key Service Club and was chaplain of the Make-A-Wish Club. He was a member of USJ’s 2012 and 2014 state championship baseball teams. He was All-Region Baseball 2014 and 2015, All-State Baseball 2015, All-District 2015, and All-West Tennessee Baseball First Team 2015. Voted “Most Congenial” by the senior class, Logan was recently selected by the faculty to USJ’s 2016 Hall of Fame and received the Richard Fite Student-Athlete Award.

Carrie Cates will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and major in kinesiology. Voted “Most Quotable” by her classmates, Carrie was yearbook editor her junior and senior year and served as senior class treasurer and captain of the varsity volleyball team. She was active in the Key Service Club, church league basketball, and Young Life. She was selected to the West Tennessee All-Star Volleyball Team in 2015 and received Volleyball Honorable Mention her junior and senior years.

Deanne Coley, co-captain of the varsity cheer squad, will major in pre-medicine at Mississippi State University. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the yearbook staff. Deanne was a five-year member of varsity cheer and played varsity softball. A member of the Memphis Pride All-Star Cheer Team, 2014-2016 and the three-time nationally ranked USJ competition cheer squad, Deanne was a 2016 International UCA Champion. She was also selected by the senior class as “Cutest.”

Amanda Cooper will attend the University of Alabama and major in nursing. Amanda was a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri-M, and Social Studies Honor Society. She was also involved in choir, theater productions, Key Service Club, SADD Club, and Spanish Club. Amanda visited Costa Rica as part of a full-immersion Spanish language travel study program with USJ. She completed the Leadership University program, to which she was named the 2015 president. As a senior, she placed 4th in the TMTA pre-calculus contest.

Clay Coury will study agricultural business at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He was a two-year starter on the varsity football team and was involved in the Key Service Club and Spanish Club. Clay was a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and was involved in the Northside United Methodist Church youth group. Clay was selected as a 2016 2nd-Team All-District Offensive Guard.

David Crockett will major in computer engineering at the University of Memphis. David attended USJ for 14 years. Inducted into the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, he also served as the chaplain of the International Club and was an active member of the Spanish Club. 

Catherine Cummings will attend the University of Mississippi and major in pre-dentistry. She was a member of the National Honor Society and Societe Honoraire de Francais. Catherine served as chaplain of the Key Service Club and secretary of the Make-A-Wish Club. A member of the varsity cheer squad, she was also part of the nationally-ranked USJ competition cheerleading squad. 

Deborah Lee Day, senior class chaplain, plans to study nursing at the University of Alabama. She served as vice president of the National Art Honor Society and vice president of the Art Club. Deborah Lee received the 2014 Scholastic Art Gold Key Award, the 2015 Scholastic Art Silver Key Award, and Best of Category in the TAEA West Tennessee Regional Art Competition. She was active in USJ varsity cheer, the Key Service Club, Environmental Club, and Spanish Club and was on the yearbook staff.

Addison Dunn, captain of the soccer team and Head of School Scholar, will play soccer for Union University and major in nursing and minor in Spanish. Addison served as SGA secretary and president of the Key Service Club. Selected as the recipient of the Richard Fite Student-Athlete award, Addison was inducted into numerous academic honor societies and was selected to the All-State Soccer team. Addison was also a Wendy’s Heisman State Finalist. In addition, she was a TSCA All-Academic honoree and a 2016 member of the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame. Voted “Most Athletic” by the senior class, Addison was selected by the faculty to the 2016 USJ Hall of Fame. 

R.M. English, an Eagle Scout and Head of School Scholar, will attend Samford University and major in pre-law. He was involved in theater productions, band, International Club, Chemistry Club, Spanish Club, and served as vice president of the Environmental Club. R.M. was inducted into the National Honor Society, Tri-M, and Social Studies Honor Society. In 2013 and 2015, R.M. was awarded USJ’s Best Supporting Actor award. He was voted by the senior class as “Most Likely to be Remembered.”

Aaron Evans, AP Scholar with Honors, plans to attend Sewanee: The University of the South and study biochemistry. He was inducted into the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Societe Honoraire de Francais, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri-M, and Social Studies Honor Society. Aaron was active in theater productions, varsity football, Chemistry Club, choir, band, and the French study abroad program. He was awarded second in the nation and first in the state in the National French Contest. Aaron also completed training to become a Certified International Yacht Crewman and Camp Counselor.  

Sydney Fendley, yearbook editor and USJ Scholar, will attend Auburn University and major in nursing. She was a member of the International Club, SADD Club, Spanish Club, Operation Smile Club, and played varsity softball. Sydney was also selected as a Jackson Symphony Ambassador and a three-time Homecoming Representative and was involved in Young Life. In 2015, Sydney was recognized for having the highest Spanish III average.
Blake Garner, a 15-year USJ student, will pursue a degree in business at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He was involved in the International Club, Key Service Club, SADD Club, Art Club, Environmental Club, Spanish Club, and Operation Smile Club. Blake was also a member of the National Art Honor Society. 

Alex Garrett, voted “Most Dependable” by his classmates, will play baseball at Rhodes College and major in commerce and business. He was selected to the National Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, and Mu Alpha Theta. Alex was active in the Key Service Club, SADD Club, and Spanish Club. He also completed the USJ study abroad program in Costa Rica. Alex received 2015 All-District honors, All-Region honors, and The Jackson Sun All-West Tennessee Team Honorable Mention in baseball. He was a member of the 2014 USJ state championship baseball team.

Loukas Georgiou, Head of School Scholar, will study physics at Rhodes College. He was a member of the National Art Honor Society, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and served as treasurer of the Science National Honor Society. Loukas received Scholastic Art and Writing Honorable Mention in 2015, “Judges’ Pick Award” in the 2014 Arts @ The U Fashion Show, 3rd place TMTA Algebra I Award in 2013, and 1st place TMTA Geometry Award in 2014. He was also involved in the Key Service Club, International Club, SADD Club, Art Club, and was a Science Bowl participant.

Jack Goodwin, Head of School Scholar, will run cross country and track at Christian Brothers University and will major in civil engineering. He was selected to the Social Studies Honor Society and served as president of the National Art Honor Society. Jack was a four-time All-Region and All-State Cross Country selection, was 2014 West Tennessee Runner of the Year, and was named All-Region Track, 2013-2015. In 2016, Jack was awarded the Gold Key in the Scholastic Art Show. He was also a 2015 Junior Volunteer at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and was a member of numerous clubs and organizations at USJ. 

Evan Griggs, AP Scholar with Honors, plans to attend Coastal Carolina University and study marine biology. Evan was a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri-M, and Social Studies Honor Society. Evan was involved in theater productions and choir and was named to the All-Northwest Honor Choir for four years. He completed a total of 312 community service hours during high school. 
Garrett Guymon will play baseball at Harding University and major in business. He was active in the Key Service Club, Spanish Club, and played varsity baseball. Garrett was co-captain of the baseball team, received All-State Baseball honors in 2015, and was named All-District/All-Region his sophomore and junior years. Garrett was a member of the 2014 USJ state championship baseball team.

Lauren Hailey will major in education at the University of Tennessee at Martin. She was selected to the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and National English Honor Society. Lauren was involved in theater productions, International Club, Key Service Club, SADD Club, Spanish Club, and was secretary of the DSA Buddy Club. She also represented USJ as a student ambassador.

Alec Hardin, voted “Cutest” by the senior class, will play baseball at Oklahoma Wesleyan University and major in business. In 2015, he was recognized for the highest average in his physics course. He was a five-year member of the varsity baseball team and also played varsity football. He was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Young Life, theater, Key Service Club, and SADD Club. Alec was also a member of the 2014 USJ state championship baseball team.

Brandon Hauswald transferred to USJ his junior year and will play baseball at Trevecca Nazarene University and will major in nursing. He played varsity baseball and football at USJ. In 2015, Brandon was named 2nd Team All-District Football and All-District Baseball.  

Holland Hawks will pursue an engineering degree at Mississippi State University where he will play football. He was a four-year member of the varsity football, basketball, and baseball teams.  Holland received All-District Football honors, All-District Basketball honors, and 2nd team All-District Baseball honors. He also played in the 2015 West TN All-Star Football Game. Holland was also involved in the choir and SADD Club and was treasurer of Key Service Club. While in high school, Holland volunteered on a mission trip to Haiti. 

Savannah Head, class of 2008 Scholarship Award Winner, plans to major in music business at Middle Tennessee State University. She was a member of the National English Honor Society and Tri-M and was treasurer of the Social Studies Honor Society. Savannah was involved in the International Club, Key Service Club, Spanish Club, was chaplain of SADD Club, and graduated from Leadership University. Savannah received the 2013 Director’s Award and was Student of the Month in August 2015. The USJ faculty selected Savannah as a member of the 2016 USJ Hall of Fame. 

Ethan Hooper will study business at the University of Memphis. He was a member of the varsity cross country and track teams and was co-captain of the cross country team in 2015. Ethan ran in the Cross Country state championships in 2014 and 2015. Recognized for having the highest Spanish II average, he was also active in the Key Service Club, Spanish Club, and SADD Club. 

Heather Hooper, voted “Most Changed” in the senior class, will attend the University of Alabama in the fall and major in fashion merchandising. She was involved in theater, Key Service Club, Environmental Club, Operation Smile Club, SADD Club, Young Life, and DSA Buddy Club. Heather was a finalist in Lights|Camera|Fashion to benefit St. Jude and served as a Jackson Symphony Ambassador.

Walter Hudson, voted “Most School Spirited” by the senior class, plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and pursue a degree in marketing. He was a four-year member of the varsity basketball team and was involved in the International Club, SADD Club, and Spanish Club and was Historian of the Key Service Club. Walter received the 2015 Xerox Award for Innovation & Technology. He also served as a Jackson Symphony Ambassador for four years.

Yuri Isomura will major in art at Kyushu Art College in Japan. She was a member of the National Art Honor Society and the Art Club. Yuri was an Arts @ The U contributor in 2015 and 2016; she participated in the Briarcrest Regional Art Competition and the West Tennessee Regional Art Center Juried Art Competition. In 2016, she placed 1st in the Re:book Art Competition.   

Payton Jett will attend the University of Alabama and study pre-law. She was captain of the basketball and track teams in 2016 and was a member of USJ’s nationally-ranked competition cheer squad in 2012-2013. Payton was involved in theater and the All-West Honor Choir. She was active in Tri-M, International Club, Key Service Club, SADD Club, Spanish Club, Operation Smile Club, DSA Buddy Club, Young Life, and served as a Special Olympics Volunteer. She received All-State Basketball Honorable Mention 2014-2015 and 2015-2016. 

Deric Johnson, who transferred to USJ his junior year, plans to major in mechanical engineering at the University of Memphis. He was a member of the varsity football and track teams. Deric was selected to Mu Alpha Theta and was active in the SADD Club and Key Service Club. Deric was named All-District 2nd Team Defense in football.

Jessica Johnson, a fourteen-year USJ student, will attend Union University and major in education. She was involved in the Key Service Club and SADD Club and was a charter member of the Drama Club. An active member of Malesus Baptist Church, Jessica was a VBS teacher. In addition, she volunteered at the Regional Inter-Faith Association and the Dream Center. 

T.J. Johnson was a member of Mu Alpha Theta and the National Art Honor Society. T.J. participated in the French study abroad program and Arts @ The U and was active in theater and numerous clubs. As an AP Art student, T.J. was awarded a Silver Key in the Scholastic National Art Competition and a Gold Key in the Scholastic Regional Art Competition and was voted Best in Category for Digital Arts in the West Tennessee Regional Art Competition. T.J. was the starting center his junior and senior years, and he was part of the Tennessee National Guard All-State Academic Team his junior and senior years and the All-District Second Team Offense his senior year. He was a member of the varsity track team. T.J. plans to major in communications with a concentration in broadcasting at Mississippi State University.

William Jones was recently selected by the faculty to USJ’s 2016 Hall of Fame and was awarded USJ’s Principal’s Leadership Award. As a four-year member of the Honor Council, he served as speaker his senior year, was a Boys’ State Delegate, a Junior Rotarian, and was voted Mr. USJ by his peers. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Social Studies Honor Society, and served as Historian for the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica. William also participated in the Spanish Study Abroad Program and was a member of the International Club, Key Service Club, SADD Club, and Spanish Club. Captain of the varsity football team, he was selected to the All-District Football team and played varsity baseball. William will attend Texas Christian University in the fall.

Holden Kirk, a four-year member of the varsity golf team, served as the varsity golf co-captain his senior year. He was also a member of the 2014 TSSAA Golf State Championship Runner-Up team. While at USJ, he served as a halftime commentator on 101.5 FM USJ Football’s radio halftime show and was also a member of the varsity soccer team. Holden participated in the Key Service Club, SADD Club, and Spanish Club. He will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and will major in journalism and broadcasting.

Austin Lea will attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the fall. A USJ student for 15 years, he was a member of the varsity soccer team and was active in the Spanish Club. Austin received multiple awards in Broadcasting during his time in high school. He also accomplished over five times the required amount of community service with 272 service hours and traveled to Brazil three times while working to build a chapel. 
Andres Leon attended USJ for four years and was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Key Service Club, and Spanish Club. Andres was also a four-year member of the varsity soccer team, active in theater, and participated in the Spanish study abroad program. In the fall, Andres will attend Samford University and will major in biology.

Parker Lewis, the 2016 Essayist, was awarded the Don Coffey Character and Leadership Award. Selected by the faculty to USJ’s Hall of Fame, Parker, an AP Scholar, was a member and held leadership roles in a number of academic honor societies. Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Class President, he was active in theater, participated in the Spanish study abroad program and the Science Bowl, and was a Junior Rotarian and Boys’ State Delegate. Parker is a four-year member of the USJ Combined Choirs and is a three-time selection to All-Northwest Honor Choir. Voted “Best to Take Home to Parents” by his peers, he was the 2015 recipient of the Sewanee Excellence in Writing Book Award. Parker will study pre-med at Union University in the fall. 

Sybil Mandle was a USJ Scholar, served as Senior Class Secretary, was co-captain of the varsity football cheerleading squad, and was a member of the UCA Top Ten nationally-ranked 2013 and 2015 USJ Cheerleading squads. Voted “Wittiest” by her peers, Sybil earned almost 200 community service hours during her high school years and completed three mission trips to Haiti. She was also an active member of a number of clubs, including USJ’s Young Life and the Homecoming and Spirit committees. Sybil will attend the University of Mississippi in the fall. 

Clara Mariencheck, an AP Scholar with Distinction, served as president of Tri-M, vice president of the National English Honor Society, chaplain of the Science National Honor Society, was secretary and parliamentarian for the Chemistry Club, and was a member of numerous honor societies and clubs. She was a four-time All-State Honor Choir selection, an All-Northwest Honor Choir five-year member, and was also selected to Quad State Honor Choir. Chosen as a Volunteer Girls’ State Delegate and voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by her peers, Clara was active in theater, yearbook, and the Science Bowl. Clara will attend Washington University in St. Louis and will major in philosophy, neuroscience, and psychology.

George Markos was active in theater, choir, and the International Club and Spanish Club. George was a two-time All-State tennis selection, a two-time Individual Doubles State Champion, a three-time State Team Runner-Up, and was The Jackson Sun 2014 West Tennessee Tennis Player of the Year. An All-District basketball selection his senior year and an All-District Honorable Mention and All-West Tennessee Honorable Mention his junior year, he was chosen as one of nine West Tennessee Basketball Super Seniors by The Jackson Sun. Voted “Most Quotable” by his peers, George was also selected as a 2015 Homecoming Representative. George plans to play tennis at the University of North Alabama and major in business.

Paul Markos was a member of the SADD Club and Spanish Club and was a member of the varsity golf and tennis teams. Paul was selected to the 2014 All-West Tennessee Boys’ Tennis Team and was a two-time State Team Runner-up. He received an award for academic excellence in World Issues in 2013. Paul plans to attend Mississippi State University, where he intends to join the Army ROTC program and will major in international business.

Molly Maroney, a Headmaster’s Scholar, was recently selected by the faculty to the USJ 2016 Hall of Fame and was the 2016 Alumni Scholarship recipient. Molly served as president of the National English Honor Society, vice president of the Social Studies National Honor Society, secretary of the Science National Honor Society, and vice president and treasurer of the Environmental Club. The recipient of the 2015 Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Award in Social Sciences, Molly is a member of numerous academic honor societies and clubs. Active in USJ theater, Molly has been selected for the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress awards. Molly was a six-year All-Northwest Honor Choir award winner and was a Quad State Honor Choir and All-State Honor Choir selection. At USJ, she served as a Student Ambassador and peer tutor. Molly, a recipient of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award and a Volunteer Girls’ State Delegate, will attend the University of Mississippi’s Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College and will major in public policy and business.

Madison Martin, the senior class president, was voted as “Most School Spirited” by her peers. A Homecoming Representative and manager of the volleyball team, she was a member of the varsity cheer and basketball teams. Madison’s art was accepted into the University of Tennessee Juried Art Competition. She participated in Arts @ The U and was a Lights|Camera|Fashion model. Madison will attend Mississippi State University in the fall and will major in kinesiology.

Ally McFarland was awarded Leadership Jackson’s Judy Renshaw Leadership Award. Ally served as the Student Government Association parliamentarian, National Art Honor Society treasurer, Key Service Club vice president, and Art Club historian. Ally attended the Tennessee Governor’s School for Visual Art. The 2015 Miss Softball of the West, Ally won the 2016 Madison County Sports Hall of Fame’s J. Bradley Hancock Scholarship. Ally will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and will major in business, accounting, and marketing.

Matt McGee will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He is a member of the National Honor Society, International Club, Key Service Club, SADD Club, and Spanish Club. Matt is also a member of the varsity soccer team. While at USJ, he received Algebra I, Spanish I, Accounting, and Spanish III certificates. 

Caroline Miller served as co-captain of the varsity cheerleading squad and was recently selected by the faculty as a member of USJ’s Hall of Fame. Voted “Most Dependable” by her peers, Caroline served as chaplain of the Student Government Association, vice president of the National English Honor Society, and was president of the Down Syndrome Awareness Buddy Club. Caroline also served as a class officer her sophomore and junior years, was vice president of the DSA Buddy Club her junior year, and was a Girls’ State Delegate and counselor. She was active in theater and choir, participated in the Spanish study abroad program, was a Junior Rotarian, and was a Leadership University graduate. Recipient of the 2015 Rhodes Scholar Book Award, Caroline was a founding member of the Peer Tutoring program at USJ. Caroline will attend Samford University in the fall and will major in communication sciences and disorders.

Will Miller was a member of the varsity golf team and attended USJ for 10 years. He was a USJ Scholar and was also a member of the International Club, Key Service Club, SADD Club, and Spanish Club. Will plans to major in pre-law in the fall at the University of Memphis.

Allison Mitchell graduates with almost 90 hours of community service. While attending USJ, she was a member of the Chemistry Club and was an Arts @ The U and Recycled Fashion Show contributor. An active member of Malesus Baptist Church, Allison was a VBS teacher and played church league basketball. Allison will attend Jackson State Community College in the fall.

Elijah Moore served as captain of the football team and was a two-time First Team All-District Defensive Lineman. He also played varsity baseball. An active member of USJ’s theater program, he also participated in the Spanish study abroad program. Voted “Most Handsome” by his peers, Elijah received the All-Northwest Honor Choir Five-Year award, was awarded “Singer of the Year” his freshman year, and was a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Elijah will play football at the University of North Alabama in the fall. 

Molly Morris served as president of the Student Government Association and vice president of the National Honor Society and was a two-year co-captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. She was awarded the Faculty Founder’s Award, which is considered USJ’s highest honor. She was also selected by the faculty as a member of the USJ 2016 Hall of Fame and was voted “Best to Take Home to Parents” and Senior Class Homecoming Representative by her peers. She served as vice president of the Freshman and Sophomore class and was a member of numerous clubs and honor societies. She also served as SGA Recording Secretary, head of the Spirit Committee, was Senate Chair, and was Head of the General Assembly and Executive Council. Molly will attend Mississippi State University in the fall and will major in accounting with a concentration in international business.

Nour Nabhan will attend Boston University in the fall and major in business. A member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, she organized a kids’ coat drive and volunteered at IRAP, the Institute for the Rehabilitation of Audio-Phonetics in Lebanon. She was active in theater and choir, participated in the Spanish study abroad program, and was junior class chaplain. As a member of the varsity soccer team, she was selected for the 2015 West Region All-Tournament Soccer Team and played on the 2013 State Runner-Up Soccer Team. She was also a member of the 2013 Jackson Futbol Club State Championship team. 

Gray Northern, an AP Scholar with Distinction, was voted “Most Dependable” by his peers. He served as president of the Spanish Club, vice president of Mu Alpha Theta, and historian of the Chemistry Club. A member of numerous clubs and honor societies, he served as vice president of the Spanish Club his junior year. He was a four-time Tennessee Mathematical Teacher’s Association Competition and American Mathematics Competition participant. Selected as an SGA Student of the Month, Gray participated in the Spanish study abroad program, was active in choir, and was a Governor’s School for Engineering alternate. An avid hockey player, he was a member of the Championship Hockey Team Blue Division Predators. Gray will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and will major in mechanical engineering. Gray’s acceptance letter was hand-delivered by UTK Chancellor Jimmy Cheek on the Big Orange Bus Tour.

Caitlin Nycum served as treasurer of the National English Honor Society and secretary of Mu Alpha Theta. Caitlin was also a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Social Studies Honor Society. She participated in the Spanish study abroad program, was active in theater, and was a member of the DSA Buddy Club and Key Service Club. Caitlin will attend the Georgia Institute of Technology in the fall and will major in chemical engineering.

Anna Pearson will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and will major in occupational therapy. Anna served as president of the Art Club and was a member of the National Art Honor Society. Anna was awarded first place in the Sculpture Division of the 2016 University of Tennessee at the Martin Juried Student Art Competition. Anna was a four-year member of the varsity soccer and softball teams. In soccer, she was a 2015 All-West Tennessee Honorable Mention. Anna was also a two-time All-District, All-Region, and 2015 All-State softball selection. 

Sydney Phelan was a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Art Club, Key Service Club, SADD Club, and Spanish Club. Sydney was active in theater and was the recipient of the 2015 Advanced Theater award. She also served as co-captain of the varsity cheerleading squad. Sydney will attend the University of Alabama and will major in media production.

Kristen Pickens, a USJ Scholar, was selected as the Class of 2006 Scholarship Award recipient and was voted “Most Congenial” by the senior class. Kristen served as co-captain of the varsity softball team, vice president of the senior class, and class secretary her freshman and sophomore years. She was also a member of the varsity basketball team, was selected as a Homecoming Representative, and was active in theater. As a five-year member of the varsity softball team, Kristen was a two-time All-District and three-time All-Region selection. She was a member of the 2012 State Championship softball team and was also selected to the All-Academic Softball Team in 2015 and the All-West Tennessee Honorable Mention Team in 2013. Kristen will major in pre-physical therapy at Union University in the fall.

Sean Reid was a member of the DSA Buddy Club, Key Service Club, SADD Club, and participated in the Spanish study abroad program. He was also a member of the varsity football team and was an All-District Second Team selection. He will continue his football career at the collegiate level at Lyon College, where he will major in pre-physical therapy.

Anna Rice will attend the University of Tennessee at Martin and will major in occupational therapy. She participated in the French study abroad program and was a member of the French Club. She was a five-year member of the varsity softball team, was a member of the 2012 State Championship softball team, and was an All-District, All-Region, All-West, and All-State selection. 

Seth Rohlwing, a four-year member of the varsity baseball team, will continue his baseball career at Rhodes College where he will major in kinesiology. A member of a number of national honor societies and clubs, Seth served as chaplain of the National Honor Society, the treasurer of the SADD Club, and the vice president of the Science National Honor Society. Additionally, he was a pre-calculus finalist at the TMTA math competition. Seth’s senior classmates selected him as their representative on the USJ Honor Council. 

Ryan Rolison, a five-year member of the varsity baseball team, has signed to continue his baseball career at the University of Mississippi. Selected as The Jackson Sun 2015 Pitcher of the Year, Ryan is a Team USA gold medalist and played in Japan as a member of Team USA. In addition to being the recipient of numerous All-District and All-Tournament baseball accolades, Ryan was a member of the Key Service Club and Spanish Club and was a varsity football player. Ryan, voted “Most Changed” by his classmates, plans to major in sports business. 

Caroline Sammons, a five-year member of USJ’s honor choir and co-captain of USJ’s championship cheer squad, will major in elementary education at Union University. Caroline enjoyed being part of USJ’s theater productions and was Dorothy in this year’s production of The Wizard of Oz. Selected as a member of the All-West Honor Choir from 2012-2015, she was a member of numerous clubs and service organizations. 

Nate Schwindt, Valedictorian and a member of the 2016 USJ Hall of Fame, is the recipient of USJ’s Class of 1983 Athlete-Scholar award and was selected by the faculty to receive the Woodmen of the World Award. His classmates voted him “Most Likely to Succeed.” Nate is the recipient of numerous departmental awards and is a three-time award winner at the TMTA math competition. Active in many USJ clubs and service organizations, in addition to serving in numerous leadership roles when he was an underclassman, Nate was selected as president of the Chemistry Club and Mu Alpha Theta and vice president of the Science National Honor Society during his senior year. An AP Scholar with Distinction and, National Merit Commended, Nate is the recipient of a number of academic, athletic, and service commendations, including Volunteer Boys’ State, the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame, and the Yale Book Award. He ran both cross country and track and was named USJ’s Male Athlete of the Year. Nate will attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology and major in chemical engineering.

Julianna Seals was a three-year member of USJ’s championship competition cheer squad. A four-year USJ Scholar, she is the recipient of the 2014 chemistry certificate. In addition, she was voted by her classmates as a senior Homecoming Representative. She also represented her community as the 2015 West Tennessee Strawberry Festival Hostess Princess. In addition to her participation in a number of clubs, Julianna was the 2015-2016 yearbook editor. She will major in pre-dentistry at the University of Arkansas. 

Lydia Smith will major in business at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. During her junior and senior years, Lydia served as USJ’s yearbook editor and was the recipient of the 2014 Yearbook Medal. A four-year member of the varsity volleyball team, Lydia participated in six Haitian mission trips and Young Life. A member of numerous school clubs, Lydia also served as part of the Frontier Ranch work crew. An active member of Fellowship Bible Church, she participated in church-league basketball. Lydia was elected Homecoming Representative for both her sophomore and senior years and was Homecoming Queen her senior year. 

Gabbie Stevens, an AP Scholar, was secretary of the National Honor Society and chaplain of the National English Honor Society. As part of the National Honor Society, she and the other officers raised over $2,200 for Project 541, the club’s service project. A 2014 and 2015 All-State cross-country runner, she also ran track and played varsity golf. Her cross-country teammates and coaches selected her as “Best Attitude” and “Best Senior.” Gabbie will attend Union University. 

Jordan Stewart will major in illustration or painting at Middle Tennessee State University. A two-year Award for Art Excellence winner and a recipient of the Silver Key for painting at the Scholastic Art competition, Jordan attended the Governor’s School for the Arts and received a scholarship to attend the Appalachian Center for Craft’s summer program. Named Student of the Month for March 2016, Jordan volunteers as an after-school art teacher at Hands Up! Preschool. 

Samantha Strube will major in computer engineering at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. An active member of USJ’s pep band and orchestra, she has been part of four USJ musicals. Samantha is a member of a number of academic honor societies and school clubs, serving as the 2015 vice president of the French Club and the 2016 chaplain of Mu Alpha Theta. A recipient of U.S. History, English III, and Honors French Certificates, Samantha served as a Junior Marshal at the 2015 graduation ceremony. 

Maddie Studtmann, voted “Most Talented” by her classmates and selected as the 2016 Outstanding Student of the Arts, will attend the University of Alabama, where she will major in medical & forensic illustration. A varsity cheer captain and parliamentarian of the National Arts Honor Society, Madison was the first place winner of the Arts @ The U competition for two years running. She has completed five mission trips to Haiti and is the recipient of USJ’s Community Service Award. 

Liana Testaert, an exchange student from Ghent, Belgium, attended USJ her senior year. After Liana completes high school in Belgium, she will go on to major in marketing at a Belgian university. Liana, a soccer player and state champion swimmer, says that her host family, the Sherrod family, made her time in the U.S. a wonderful experience. 

Aditya Thota, an AP Scholar with Distinction and a member of numerous national honor societies, served as the junior class treasurer, historian of the National English Honor Society, and president of the Social Studies Honor Society. The USJ faculty selected Aditya as a member of the 2016 Hall of Fame. Additionally, Aditya was selected to attend the Lott Leadership Institute, the Hugh O’Brian Leadership Program, and the Governor’s School for International Studies. Aditya will major in pre-medicine at the University of Michigan. 

Oliver Trigony, a trombonist in the USJ band and the manager of the USJ men’s basketball team, was a member of the French and Chemistry Clubs and enjoyed participating in theater productions. A volunteer with Operation Christmas Child and the Bernie Sanders campaign, Oliver’s classmates selected him as “Most Likely to Be Remembered.” Oliver will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he will major in history. 

Easton Underwood, an All-District Quarterback and a participant in the 2015 West Tennessee All-Star Game, was a member of USJ’s varsity football and track teams, as well as the Key Service Club. Easton, voted “Wittiest” by his classmates, will play football at Mississippi State University. He plans to major in business law. 

Seth Weiss will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and major in chemical engineering. Seth, an AP scholar, is the recipient of numerous academic awards. In addition, during his junior and senior years, he was the captain of the men’s varsity soccer team. He participated in a variety of school clubs and service organizations, where he was elected to a number of leadership positions. A regular participant in USJ plays and musicals, Seth also served as a Symphony Ambassador for the Jackson Symphony.

The 73 members of the USJ Class of 2015 are headed off in all directions as they go to college this fall. This includes Georgetown in Washington D.C., Vanderbilt, Rhodes, Lee, SMU, Georgia Tech, Samford, UT, Alabama, and Mississippi State. Viterbo University in Wisconsin, known for its performing arts, will welcome its first USJ graduate, while other colleges, like Rhodes and Union, are pleased to accept more USJ students.
The class had three students recognized by the National Merit Foundation and 12 Advanced Placement Scholars recognized by the College Board. The top quintile (20 percent) of the class had an ACT average of 32; the average ACT for the whole class is 26. All of the graduates were accepted into a college of their choice. The top three graduates are Alan Wilms, Valedictorian; 

Austin Wilms, Salutatorian; and Madison Perchik, Essayist.
Jonathan Adkins will major in business at the University of Mississippi. A three-year member of the basketball team and co-captain of the football team, Jonathan earned basketball All-District Team and football All-West Tennessee Honorable Mention awards. He was president of the junior class and active in several clubs.

Peyton Antwine, treasurer of the Student Government Association, was an AP Scholar, Boys State delegate, a Leadership University graduate, and yearbook editor. He was voted “Most Dependable” by his classmates. He earned third in the state in the 2014 National French Contest. He was a member of several honor societies, active in theater, ran track, and volunteered at Jackson-
Madison County General Hospital. Peyton will major in biology at Rhodes College.

Reese Antwine, an AP scholar, was president of the National Honor Society, chaplain of the junior and senior class, a Leadership University graduate, four-year member of the Honor Council, and a Boys State delegate. He belonged to several honor societies and was yearbook business manager. He was active in choir and theater, played soccer, ran track, and volunteered at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Reese will major in pre-medicine at the University of Georgia.

Abby Atkins, voted “Most Likely to be Remembered” by her classmates, was vice president of the Student Government Association, president of the National English Honor Society, and also president of her freshman and sophomore class. Abby was yearbook co-editor, a Leadership University graduate, Girls State delegate, and Teen Court representative. She received the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership and Rhodes book awards. Abby earned the Volleyball Scholar and All-West Volleyball First Team Honorable Mention. Abby will study audiology and speech pathology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Neeley Atkins, who will attend Mississippi State University, was senior class secretary and junior class treasurer. She modeled for Lights-Camera-Fashion to help raise more than $35,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She earned two Honorable Mention awards in the Mid-South Scholastic Art Competition and received All-West Tennessee Volleyball Honorable Mention honors.

Beau Barksdale will major in business at Pellissippi State in Knoxville. He was a member of the football team, active in several clubs, and received acting awards for his work in theater.

Reagan Beecham, a four-year member of the basketball team, was co-captain his senior year. He was active in the Key Service and Spanish clubs. Reagan was emcee for Arts at the U his senior year. He will study political science at Mississippi State University.Jordan Boyd, voted “Wittiest” by his classmates, was president of the Student Government Association. A National Honor Society member, he received the George Eastman Youth Leadership and Principal’s Leadership awards. He was a Junior Rotarian, Leadership University graduate, Exchange Club volunteer, and Jackson Symphony ambassador. A volunteer at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, Jordan earned USJ’s Community Service Award for volunteering nearly 700 hours. He will major in business and political science at Ole Miss.

Ben Brauss, voted “Most Athletic” by his peers, was co-captain of the football team and baseball’s Division II-A Player of the Year. He earned All-State in both football and baseball and was a member of the 2012 and 2014 State Championship baseball teams. Ben will major in engineering and will play baseball for Harding University.     

William Butler was a four-year member of the baseball team and ran cross country. He was active in several clubs and Fellowship Bible Church student ministries. William will major in business at Mississippi State.

Callie Cantrell won three Silver Keys and two Honorable Mentions in the Mid-South Scholastic Art Competition and attended Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts in Visual Art. She was a member of the nationally-ranked varsity cheer squad, serving as captain her senior year and co-captain her junior year. She will attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and will study interior design.

Kayce Clifton participated in three national competitions as a member of the varsity cheer squad. She was a member of several clubs and volunteered at RIFA and as Team Leader for the Bruin Cub Cheer Camp. She will major in child and family studies at Pellissippi State.

Mackenzie Cotner was a two-year member of the nationally-ranked varsity cheer squad. She was a member of the National Art Honor Society, Spanish and Operation Smile clubs, and contributed to the 2013 fashion show. Mackenzie will major in accounting at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Bailey Cozart, who transferred to USJ her sophomore year, will major in kinesiology at Mississippi State. She was active in Key Service, Art, Spanish, and Operation Smile clubs. Bailey won first place for a handmade dress in the 2012 fashion show and received the Outstanding Art Student award in 2013.

Sam Darnall, voted “Most Talented” by his classmates, was a four-time, All-State cross-country runner and the 2013 cross-country individual State Champion. Captain of the cross-country and track and field teams, Sam received the 2013 Jackson Sun West Tennessee Runner of the Year award and was a 2014 track and field State Championship finalist. He was a member of All West Tennessee Honor Choir. Sam will major in accounting and will run cross country and track and field for Mississippi College.

Cole Davis, voted as “Most Changed” by his classmates, was a member of the National Honor Society, active in the SADD Club and Younglife, played soccer, and received an Outstanding Student in Chemistry award. Cole will major in biology at UT Chattanooga.

Rachel Giampapa, a Leadership University graduate, was secretary of the senior class and a six-year member of All Northwest Honor Choir, earning sixth chair her junior and senior years. As a five-year starter of the varsity soccer team, her team won two state championships. Rachel achieved All-State honors three years in a row and was selected to the 2014 Tennessee State East vs. West High School All-Star Game. She will major in biology at UT Chattanooga.

Andrea Glass, who enrolled at USJ her junior year, was National Honor Society treasurer and Spanish National Honor Society secretary. Andrea participated in the Costa Rica study abroad program and contributed to Arts at The U and USJ’s fashion show. Andrea will major in marketing at UT Knoxville.

Sara Glassman, voted “Most Changed” by her peers, was a two-year co-captain of the volleyball team. Sara was a member of the All-State volleyball team, was named the West Tennessee Hitter of the Year, and was selected to play in the Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association 2015 East vs. West All-Star Volleyball Match. Sara will play volleyball for Cumberland University and will major in education.

Sierra Glosson, a member of the National Honor Society, participated in 20 theater productions, earning Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress awards. Selected as “Most Talented” by her classmates, Sierra earned the Outstanding Student of the Arts award. She was a six-year member of Tennessee’s All Northwest Honor Choir and was selected to Quad State Honor Choir, All State Honor Choir, and All National Honor Choir. She was president of Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica and participated in two Costa Rica study abroad trips. She will study musical theater at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Nick Gregory, who studied abroad in France in the summer of 2013, will major in history at UT Knoxville. He was chaplain of the French Club and a French I medalist. He also played varsity football, baseball, and soccer.

Molly Hall, who played varsity basketball four years, served as captain her senior year and earned All-District and Honorable Mention honors. She also played four years of volleyball, was team MVP, and earned All-West Tennessee First Team honors her senior year, and All-District and All-West Tennessee Honorable Mention her junior year. Molly, a fashion show contributor, will major in nutrition and wellness at Mississippi State.

Georgina Harlan, voted “Best to Take Home to Parents” by her peers, served as secretary of the Student Government Association, raised more than $2,700 for charity as service chairman of the National Honor Society, and was junior class secretary. A Leadership University graduate, Georgina participated in the Costa Rica study abroad program, contributed to the literary magazine and fashion show,  was active in theater, and served on the yearbook staff. Georgina will major in nursing at UT Knoxville.

Chase Harris signed to play golf at the University of Memphis. A member of many campus organizations, he played varsity golf and was a 2013 golf All-State selection. Chase was chosen as the 2013 and 2014 Jackson Sun Male Golfer of the Year. He also received the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame Richard Ross Scholarship.

Robert Henderson was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. He played varsity football and soccer and received academic awards in algebra, English, and American history. He will major in chemical engineering at Mississippi State.

Dalton Hockaday transferred to USJ his senior year. He was a member of Key Service Club, active in theater, and played varsity tennis. He also volunteered to teach others how to play tennis. Dalton will major in business and play tennis at Bethel University.

Tori Hockaday, voted “Most Congenial” by her classmates, served as president of the senior class, recording secretary for SGA her junior year, yearbook editor for two years, and captain of the varsity tennis team for four years. Tori was a Jackson Sun All-West Tennessee Tennis Player of the Year. She also participated in the Costa Rica study abroad program, was a Junior Rotarian, a Leadership University graduate, and a Jackson Symphony ambassador. Tori was accepted into UT Knoxville’s Honors College and will study neuroscience and Spanish.

Amanda Holloway, voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by her classmates, will study history at Georgetown University. Amanda, who transferred to USJ her sophomore year, was recognized by National Merit as a National Achievement Outstanding Participant. She was a Girls State delegate, a Leadership University graduate, a Junior Rotarian, and received the 2014 Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Award in Humanities and Social Science. Active in cross country, Spanish, and DSA Buddy clubs, Amanda was president of the Social Science Honor Society and a member of several other honor societies.

Rachel Hooper placed first in the Briarcrest Regional Art Contest and Exhibition and earned a Silver Key and four Honorable Mentions in the Scholastic Art and Writing competition. She is a weekly volunteer at Hands Up! Preschool. Rachel will study architecture at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

Ray Howard, selected as “Mr. USJ” and Homecoming King by his peers, was president of Key Service Club and chaplain of SADD Club. He was a five-year member of the varsity golf team, a three-time All-West Tennessee Golf Team selection, a 2014 Regional Medalist, and a member of the 2014 State Runner-up team. Ray will major in business at Ole Miss.

Morgan Jenkins transferred to USJ where she repeated her junior year so she would be better prepared for college. She was active in choir, Key Service Club, SADD Club, was a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society, and earned academic awards in Spanish. Morgan will major in neuroscience at Rhodes.

Fernando Karg transferred to USJ his senior year. Fluent in two languages, he has lived in three countries. He was a member of several honor societies and active in theater, choir, and varsity soccer, and Art and Spanish clubs. He was a U.N. Forum Delegate and a 2013 engineering catapult competition semi-finalist. He will major in mechanical engineering at UT Knoxville.

Christian Kramer played varsity football four years and was All-District in 2014. He was also a three-year member of the varsity baseball team, which won the 2014 State Championship. He was active in Spanish Club and Key Service Club. Christian will major in agricultural information science at Mississippi State.

Walker Laird, voted “Best to Take Home to Parents” by his peers, served as Science National Honor Society co-competition chairman and was a member of several honor societies. Selected to the All-West Orchestra for four years, Walker played in the band and pit orchestra. He was a Jackson-Madison County Youth Teen Court representative and played football, track, and baseball. He will major in biology at Millsaps College.

Hope Magee, voted “Most Quotable” by her peers, served as chaplain of the Student Government Association. As vice president of Key Service Club, she led the 2014 canned food drive between Trinity and USJ and raised more than 35,000 pounds of food for RIFA. Hope, who played varsity tennis for five years, was editor of the 2014 literary magazine, a Leadership University graduate, and a member of the National Art Honor Society. She will major in art at Union University.

Giangi Mamusa, an exchange student from Cagliari, Italy, attended USJ his senior year. In Italy, he was selected to “I giovani e le scienze 2014,” a national selection for the European Union Contest for Young Scientists. Giangi plans to return to Italy this summer and, once in college, will major in computer technology.

Laura Mantooth was senior class treasurer, sophomore class secretary, DSA Buddy Club president, French Club chaplain, and a member of several honor societies. Selected “Most Dependable” by her classmates, Laura was a four-year selection for All-West Orchestra, was active in theater, participated in the French study abroad program, and was an Arts at The U contributor. She will major in special needs education at Lee University.

Jessie Mathis will major in nursing and Spanish at Union. She was historian for Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica and vice president of Chemistry Club. Jessie was active in theater, played volleyball, contributed to the fashion show, and participated in the Costa Rica study abroad program.

Emily Mitchell was a five-year member of the varsity soccer team that won State Championships in 2010 and 2011. Emily will play soccer for Cumberland University and will major in nursing.

Steven Mysiewicz, an AP Scholar with Honor, held office in several honor societies. He was a Boys State delegate, a Junior Marshal, and a member of the yearbook staff. He took second place in the Science Bowl and was active in band. Steven will major in neuroscience at Rhodes.

Sydney Paris was a six-time member of the All West Tennessee Honor Choir and was named to All State Choir her senior year. Sydney was a varsity cheerleader and served as captain. She earned an academic award in biology and appeared in multiple high school musicals. Sydney will major in physical therapy at Auburn University.

Hayden Patey will major in mechanical engineering at Ole Miss. He belonged to several clubs, played football for three years, and was an active member of USJ’s Younglife.

Nigel Peeples, who transferred to USJ his junior year, was a two-year captain of the varsity basketball team and was selected to the All-District Team in 2013 and 2014. Nigel will major in physical therapy at Murray State University.

Madison Perchik, Class of 2015 Essayist, served as speaker and was a four-year member of the Honor Council. A five-year member of the varsity soccer team, she was co-captain and helped the team win two state championships. Voted “Miss USJ” by her peers, Madison was an AP Scholar and recipient of the Yale Book Award and multiple other academic honors. She earned the Don Coffey Character and Leadership Award. She will major in biology at Rhodes.
Sarah Pierce, voted “Most Beautiful” by her peers, served as secretary of both the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society. She was a five-year member of the varsity soccer team that won State Championships in 2010 and 2011. Sarah was selected as Homecoming Queen. She earned a Gold Key in the Mid-South Scholastic Art Competition. She will study pre-physical therapy at Ole Miss.         
        
Lauren Pitcairn was class vice president her freshman and sophomore years and held leadership positions in several clubs. Voted “Cutest” by her peers, Lauren ran track, was a Leadership University graduate, a Jackson Symphony ambassador, and was a four-year member of the varsity soccer team, including the 2011 State Championship team. She received the Richard Fite Student-Athlete Award. She will attend Mississippi State.

Mary Alex Richards was a four-year member of choir, active in theater, and a Jackson Symphony ambassador. A member of the National Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, and Mu Alpha Theta, she also played soccer for four years and was a member of the 2011 State Championship team. Mary Alex will major in nursing at UT Knoxville.

Sam Rickman, an AP Scholar with Honor and a National Merit Scholar, was selected to the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Sciences and Engineering. He placed ninth in the nation for the 2013 National French Contest Le Grand Concours and served as the 2014 Science Bowl team captain. An Eagle Scout and Leadership University graduate, he won numerous academic awards, ran cross country and track, and participated in the French study abroad program. He will major in ecology as part of the honors program at UT Knoxville.

Clare Robertson, an AP Scholar, was voted “Wittiest” by her classmates. She held office in several honor societies and volunteered at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and Hands Up! Preschool. She was also a Girls State delegate, a Leadership University graduate, and co-writer for a domestic abuse awareness play to benefit the Wo/Men’s Resource and Rape Assistance Program. A participant in the French study abroad program, Clare placed second in the nation for the 2014 National French Contest Le Grand Concours. Clare will attend the University of Alabama.

Yahaira Rodriguez served as vice president of the International Club and treasurer of the Spanish Club. She was also a member of the DSA Buddy Club and the Key Service Club. She will attend UT Knoxville.

Hunter Ross, Tri-M Music Honor Society president, was selected to All West Honor Choir three times and earned Tennessee All State Honor Choir his senior year. He was a volunteer for Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and participated in two mission trips with his church to Haiti. Hunter was active in theater, played football, ran cross country, and was a four-year member of the track team. He took fifth place in the 400 and 800 meter relays at the 2014 track and field regional competition. Hunter will study pre-medicine at Union.

Kaitlyn Ross, a member of the National Honor Society, played soccer for the Wolves and the USJ varsity team, including the 2011 State Championship team. Kaitlyn ran cross country and track, was a three-year choir member, a fashion show contributor, and a volunteer at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She will major in kinesiology at Mississippi State.

Kelsey Sanders, an AP Scholar, served as president of Société Honoraire de Français and the French Club and was a member of several honor societies and clubs. Kelsey was a Leadership University graduate, earned the Rachel Carson Book Award, and participated in the Costa Rica and French study abroad programs. She will major in history at Louisiana State University in the honors program.

Emily Sanderson will major in pre-veterinary medicine at UT Knoxville. A four-year choir member, Emily was chosen for the All West Tennessee Honor Choir three times. Emily was active in theater, participated in the Costa Rica study abroad program, ran track and cross country, and played on the 2011 State Championship soccer team. A Leadership University graduate, she received USJ’s Alumni Association Scholarship.

Rebekah Sears, who was selected for the Music City Girls Lead Conference, was also a Girls State delegate, a fashion show and Arts at the U contributor, and co-writer for a domestic abuse awareness play to benefit the Wo/Men’s Resource and Rape Assistance Program. A member of the varsity basketball team, she earned district MVP in 2013 and was team captain. Rebekah will major in psychology at Christian Brothers University.

Paige Sheffield, a varsity volleyball captain for three years, was selected to The Jackson Sun All-West Tennessee Team and earned All-State, All-Region, and team MVP honors in 2013 and 2014. She was a member of the National Honor Society and several USJ clubs, and a Jackson Symphony ambassador. Paige will major in elementary education at UT Knoxville.

Adam Sills was vice president of Mu Alpha Theta, chaplain of Tri-M Music Honor Society, and treasurer of Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. He earned a four-year award for All West Honor Choir and was a Jackson-Madison County Teen Court representative. He placed sixth in the individual Science Bowl category and was a second-place team winner. Adam will major in biology at UT Knoxville.

Ashmeet Singh was a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Chemistry Club. Selected as “Most Quotable” by his peers, Ashmeet worked more than 200 community service hours. He will major in biology at Rhodes.

Nicole Sioson, who earned 174 community service hours, volunteered at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She played varsity tennis, was selected to the All-West Honor Choir three times, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Nicole was selected into the One Day Leadership Program at Mississippi State where she will major in pre-medicine.

Matthew Smith was a Leadership University graduate, a Junior Marshal, Spanish Club president, junior class vice president, and a varsity football player. Matthew earned first place rankings twice in the Tennessee Mathematics Teacher’s Association Math Competition and placed second in the 2014 Science Bowl. He participated in the Costa Rica study abroad program and has earned multiple academic awards, including the 2014 Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science award. He will major in biochemistry at Rhodes.

Hollen Spencer, vice president of the senior class, was captain of the football team and two-time All-District football player, co-captain of the tennis team, and a Jackson-Madison County Teen Court representative. A member of several honor societies, he received academic awards in algebra, geometry, and theater. Voted “Most Handsome” by his classmates, Hollen is the Male Athlete of the Year for the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame. He will major in international business at the University of Arkansas.

Vickie Subia was a member of Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, Spanish Club, and served as secretary of the International Club. Vickie will major in education at Jackson State.

Samantha Sullivan, voted “Most Athletic” by her peers, served as president of the National Art Honor Society and was treasurer of the junior class. Samantha was a Leadership University graduate, four-time All-State cross-country runner, and a member of the 2012 State Championship softball team. A three-time Art Student of the Year Award recipient, she will study interior design at Mississippi State.

Michael Taylor served as captain of the varsity football team, was a 2014 football All-State selection, and played football and basketball for four years. He was selected to play in the West Tennessee All-Star game and was on the 2013-2014 All-District team and the 2014-2015 First Team All-District Offense team. Michael will play football and major in sports medicine at Ole Miss.

Matthew Teel, selected as “Cutest” by his classmates, served as SADD Club president and Honor Council representative. A member of the National Honor Society, he participated in the Costa Rica study abroad program, played varsity basketball, spent four years on the varsity golf team, and earned academic honors in algebra and geometry. He will study business at Mississippi State.

Walker Teer, captain of the varsity soccer team, was selected to the 2014 All-Region and All-District teams. Active in theater and choir, Walker was named to the All West Tennessee Honor Choir four times and the All Northwest Honor Choir six times. An Eagle Scout, he served as a Jackson Symphony ambassador and participated in the Costa Rica study abroad program. He will study biology at Samford University.

Cameron Tinker, voted “Most School Spirit” by his peers, was a member of the National Honor Society and several other organizations. He placed second in the 2015 West Tennessee Science Bowl, participated in the Costa Rica study abroad program, and played football. A baseball player for four years, he was selected to the 2014 All-Region Tournament Team, 2015 Perfect Game Atlanta, Georgia, Louisville Slugger Classic, and 2015 23rd Annual USA Classic All-Tournament teams. Cameron will play baseball and major in biology and Spanish at Rhodes.

Derek Wallace transferred to USJ his senior year from Alaska. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta and ran cross- country and track. At his former high school, he consistently placed in the top 10 in JV cross-country ski races and earned two varsity letters in swimming. With 175 community service hours, Derek volunteered weekly at Habitat for Humanity Restore. He will major in computer science at Montana State University.

Shelby Williams, voted “Most School Spirit” by the senior class, was a member of the National Honor Society and active in several organizations, choir, and theater. Captain of the varsity soccer team for three years, Shelby was an All-State soccer player three times, a two-time West Tennessee Defensive Player of the Year, Tennessee Sports Writer All-State selection, and District MVP. She will major in nursing and play soccer at UT Chattanooga.

Alan Wilms, AP Scholar and Valedictorian, will major in computer engineering at Vanderbilt University. A National Merit Finalist, Alan earned multiple academic awards, attended the Tennessee Governor’s School for Emerging Technologies, and was a three-time Tennessee Math Teacher Association Math Competition selection. Voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by his peers, Alan participated in the Costa Rica study abroad program. He received the Faculty Founder’s award and the Woodman of the World award in AP U.S. History.

Austin Wilms, Salutatorian, was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by his peers. Selected to the Tennessee Governor’s School for Emerging Technologies, Austin was an AP Scholar, recipient of the Bill Moss Book Award, and competed in the Tennessee Math Teacher Association Math Competition three times. He participated in the Costa Rica study abroad program and the Lott Summer Leadership Program and earned many academic honors. He will major in computer engineering at Vanderbilt.

Ryan Woods, who has attended USJ since the fourth grade, was a three-year member of the French Club. He plans to major in business at Jackson State.
Charles Woodside, voted “Most Congenial” by his peers, is a Leadership University graduate and four-year member of the basketball team. Active in USJ’s Younglife, Charles ran cross country, played freshman football, and received academic awards in studio art and computer science. He will major in business at Southern Methodist University.

Natalie Allen, captain of the varsity basketball team and member of the varsity volleyball team, was the competition chairman of Science National Honor Society and treasurer of National Honor Society. She was president of Operation Smile Club, SADD Club vice president, treasurer of International Club, junior class president, and editor of the 2014 yearbook. A Leadership University alum, she graduates with more than 200 community service hours. Natalie will major in pre-dentistry at University of Mississippi.

Eric Arnold was a member of the varsity football, basketball, baseball, and track teams. He was named All-District, All-West Tennessee, and All-State for his success on the football field. Eric was in the choir, numerous clubs, and was a volunteer with the Down-Syndrome Teen Club of Jackson. Eric will major in finance at William Jewell College where he will play football.

Zaid Baba, AP Scholar with Distinction, was a member of Science National Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, Mu Alpha Theta, Social Science Honor Society, and National Honor Society. Zaid was president of the Chemistry Club his junior year and was active in Spanish Club and band. He traveled to Costa Rica with the USJ Spanish study abroad program. Zaid will attend Rhodes College.

Cal Bigford will major in audio engineering at Belmont University. Cal was a member of Tri-M, National Honor Society, and French Club, was vice president of Photography Club, and was a contributor to the USJ literary magazine. Cal placed eighth in the State French Exam in 2010. He was a Madison County Teen Court Officer, 2011-2013.

Govind Bindra, class salutatorian, National Merit Finalist and AP National Scholar, was SGA president his senior year, SGA parliamentarian his junior year, and president of his sophomore class. An Eagle Scout, Govind is a member of several academic honor societies. He placed first in the 2011 National French Competition and first in the 2012 TMTA Calculus and Advanced Topics math competition. He was a Madison County Teen Court Juror; active in theater, choir and band; and an active member of the Mid-South Sikh Association. A Leadership University alum, Govind was a member of the varsity cross country, track, and soccer teams. Govind attended Governor’s School for Emerging Technology. He will attend Harvard College.

Sarah Bond will attend Jackson State Community College. She was a Girl Scout and a long-time dancer. Sarah was active in theater and choir, a member of the Spanish Club, and a contributor to the USJ fashion show.

Mattie Boyd, AP Scholar, will attend Rhodes. Mattie was president of National Art Honor Society and a member of several other honor societies. She was active in the arts and participated in the French study abroad program. Founder of an after-school art program for Hands Up! preschool, a four-year emergency room volunteer, and four-year Jackson Symphony Ambassador, Mattie graduates with more than 500 community service hours.

Chris Burton, an Eagle Scout, was a member of Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, Mu Alpha Theta, Tri-M, and National Honor Society. He was historian of Spanish Club and active in numerous clubs. Chris participated in the Spanish study abroad program. Active in theater and choir, he was in the 2011 All-State Honor Choir and the All-West Honor Choir from 2009 to 2013. He was a member of the varsity cross country team, track team, and soccer team. He will major in animation and visual effects at Savannah College of Art and Design.

Austin Campbell, junior volunteer at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, was a member of Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society. He received the Honors Biology medal his freshman year, the Honors Chemistry certificate and Honors Spanish II certificate his sophomore year, and the AP Biology certificate his junior year. He was a member of the varsity football team and the Spanish Club. Austin was accepted into the Chancellor’s Honor Program at University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Hayden Cardwell, a 13-year USJ student and member of Spanish Club, will pursue a military career after graduation.

Jennylyn Caterina, National Merit Commended student and AP Scholar with Distinction, was president of Science National Honor Society, and a member of several other academic honor societies. She was active in the arts, chemistry and Spanish clubs, and participated in the Spanish study abroad program. She also participated in numerous USJ and community theater productions. Jennylyn will attend Rockford University.

Rebecca Cloar, a dedicated artist, received first place and honorable mention in the West Tennessee Regional Juried Student Art Competition. Rebecca was named Rising Junior Artist and attended Tennessee Governor’s School for Visual Art. She plans to attend Watkins College of Art and Design.

Will Cobb was a member of Science National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta and was historian of National Social Science Honor Society. Will was selected to the All-West Honor Choir in 2011-2013 and placed first in the TMTA statistics math competition. He played varsity football and soccer, and Jackson Wolves soccer. He was active in First United Methodist Youth Group and Young Life. Will plans to major in math at Rhodes.

Ben Coffman, class essayist, National Merit Finalist, and AP Scholar with Honor, attended Tennessee Governor’s School for Emerging Technology. He received the Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology and the Bill Moss Memorial Book Award, and was an American Legion Boys State delegate. Ben placed first in the TMTA Regional mathematics competition in 2011, 2012, and 2014, and first in the American Mathematics Competition in 2012 and 2014. Co-captain of the varsity soccer team, Ben was named to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association 2013 All-State Soccer Team. Ben will major in engineering at University of Alabama in Huntsville and play soccer.

Will Cooper will attend Mississippi State University. Will was a member of National Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, and Mu Alpha Theta, and was treasurer of Science National Honor Society. He played football and ran cross country and track. He attended the Christian Leadership Institute and the National Young Leaders Conference. Will organized the logistics for the record-setting 2014 RIFA food drive.

Jansen Cupples, member of Mu Alpha Theta, received the CP mathematics award his freshman and junior years. He was a member of the choir, International Club, and Spanish Club. Jansen will major in mechanical engineering technology at University of Arkansas in Little Rock.

Haley Daugherty was secretary of Societe Honoraire de Francais, French Club chaplain, and a member of National Honor Society, Tri-M, choir, SADD Club, Operation Smile Club, and DSA Buddy Club. She was involved in the USJ fashion show and was a co-captain for the junior varsity volleyball team. She earned a top ten ranking on the state level in the National French Contest in 2011 and 2012. Haley will major in bio-chemistry and pre-pharmacy at UT Knoxville.

Holly Deming, member of the National Honor Society and vice president of the National French Honor Society, participated in the French study abroad program in France. Holly was chairman of the Student Affairs Committee and secretary of the Honor Council. She was a volunteer at Barn Cat Rescue and a peer tutor. Holly will double major in marine biology and French at Eckerd College.

Jacob Denbrock, winner of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce “This is My Jackson” video contest, will major in video production at Middle Tennessee State University. Jacob played varsity football and tennis. He received All-District Honorable Mention in football and was named to the All-West Tennessee Team. He served as production assistant for Vacation Bible School at Englewood Baptist Church and served on a mission trip in the Virgin Islands.

Nikki Duckworth was a varsity cheerleader and member of the track team. She was also a member of the International, SADD, Art, Spanish, Operation Smile, and Photography clubs. She is active in Young Life and her church youth group and is a volunteer with Runway for a Cure. Nikki plans to attend Birmingham-Southern College where she will run track.

Isabella Edwards, president of Photography Club, was a member of International Club, Art Club, Environmental Club, and Spanish Club. She is a freelance photographer and after-school art instructor. She placed third in the Congressional Art Competition. Isabella was a Vacation Bible School leader with her church. She will major in clinical psychology at UT Knoxville.

Katie Exum was a member of Key Service Club, SADD Club, and Spanish Club. She played varsity basketball and softball. Active in Young Life, Katie is a member of Englewood Baptist Church. Katie will attend Murray State University.

Jessica Garland, member of National Art Honor Society, was involved in the USJ Art Show and USJ Fashion Show. She was captain of the varsity cross country team, and was named to the All-State team in 2011 and 2012. She placed third in the 2012 TSSAA State Cross Country Meet. Jessica has completed a semester of college through dual enrollment at Jackson State and will major in environmental engineering at UT Knoxville.

Ally Glover, USJ’s 2014 valedictorian, was the founder and president of USJ’s Down Syndrome Association Buddy Club. An AP Scholar with Honor, Ally was awarded Top Research Presentation in Chemical Engineering at the University of Tennessee High School Introduction to Engineering Systems. She also was named the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Scholar Grade Representative. A varsity softball player, Ally was named an All-State Player in 2011 and 2013, was a member of the 2010 and 2012 TSSAA State Championship softball teams, and was named to the TN Softball Coaches Association All-Academic Team. Ally will major in chemical engineering and minor in French at UT Knoxville.

Ali Graham, voted Miss USJ by her peers, was chaplain of her class, president of Key Club, concert choir accompanist, editor of The Paw school newspaper, and active in many organizations at USJ. Also an active volunteer, she tutored at RIFA’s Adult Literacy Center and organized Jeans for Jared and the record-breaking USJ RIFA food drive. Ali, a Leadership University alum, was a Volunteer Girls State delegate her junior year and was selected as a Girls State counselor her senior year. She also ran cross country. Ali will major in early childhood education at Mississippi State.

Haley Hall, co-captain of the 2014 varsity basketball team, was selected as the USJ Female Athlete of the Year in the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame. She was named Varsity Softball All-State 2012, All-District 2011-2013, and All-West Tennessee 2012, and Varsity Basketball All-District and All-Region 2012-2013. She also ran cross country and played volleyball. She was a member of National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta and was yearbook co-editor. Haley will attend University of Alabama.

Laura Harmon was a member of National Honor Society, Tri-M, and Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica. She participated in the Spanish study abroad program in Costa Rica. She was active in choir, Spanish Club, and DSA Buddy Club. Laura will major in nursing at UT Knoxville.

Hunter Harrison, member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, was a 2013 All-District Honorable Mention football player. He participated in International Club and Spanish Club, and was a member of the varsity track and varsity baseball teams. Active in West Jackson Baptist Church, he played church league basketball. Hunter will attend UT Knoxville.

Charlie Hughes played varsity baseball and football, receiving an All-Region Honorable Mention. An AP Scholar, he was a member of National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, and Mu Alpha Theta. He was involved in theater productions and was junior class vice president, Boys State delegate, and a participant in the Spanish study abroad program. Charlie will play football at Rhodes College.

Logan Hughes will attend Mississippi State University. He participated in theater and choir productions, was a member of the French Club, and played varsity golf and varsity baseball. He received a 2013 All-West Tennessee Honorable Mention for his performance on the baseball field.

Claire Jaggers served as SGA vice president, National English Honor Society president, Tri-M treasurer, National Honor Society service chairman, and Key Club historian. Claire also was co-editor of the USJ literary magazine, founder of the USJ Spirit Store, and a Volunteer Girls State delegate. She was active in Young Life and Fellowship Student Ministries. Claire was selected to the All-Northwest Honor Choir from 2010 to 2014, All-State Honor Choir in 2012, and Quad State Honor Choir in 2013. She was a member of the nationally-ranked USJ varsity cheer squad in 2012. Claire helped develop the “Be a Better U” anti-bullying assembly series. She will major in journalism at Samford University.

Kody Kilburn, treasurer of SADD Club, played varsity football, basketball, and baseball. In 2012, Kody received All-District Honorable Mention and was named to the All-West Tennessee Second Team in football. In 2013, he was selected to the All-District, All-West Tennessee Team, and to play in the West Tennessee All-Star game. He also received All-West Tennessee Honorable Mention in baseball. Kody will major in kinesiology at UT Knoxville.

Cody Kinniburgh, AP Scholar, was a member of National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Science National Honor Society. He was active in International Club, Chemistry Club, and Spanish Club. He received the English II Honors award, Algebra II Honors award, and Geometry Honors award. Cody will major in mathematics at UT Knoxville.

Kesley Kirk was a member of the Spanish Club and a four-year member of the varsity football team. He was named a D-II West All-District Football Player in 2013. Kesley will attend UT Knoxville where he plans to major in pre-medicine.

Maddie Koester will major in general business at Austin Peay State University. She was the Art Club secretary her junior and senior years, a Spanish Club member, and a contributor to the USJ art show. She won third place for her artwork in the West Tennessee Regional Juried Art Competition. Maddie was a member of the TSSAA State Championship soccer team and a volunteer at Hands Up! preschool’s after-school art program.
Anna Lax, choreographer of the dance portion of USJ’s “Be a Better U” assembly, was a performing member and a senior council member of Ballet Arts, Inc. of Jackson, and participated in Ballet Rejoice. She was Senior Mentoring assistant coordinator, active in the arts, and a member of the International, SADD, Art, French, and Spanish clubs. Anna plans to major in biology at Union University.

Ely Mandle will major in geological engineering at Ole Miss. President of his senior class and Key Club officer, Eli was a member of the Spanish Club and played on the golf team five years. He played in the TSSAA State Championship for three years. Eli was selected for the All-Northwest Honor Choir his freshman year. Ely was a 2013 Homecoming representative and was voted Most School Spirited by his peers.

Marisa Mariencheck, National Merit Commended Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction, was vice president of Tri-M, treasurer of National English Honor Society, secretary of National History Honor Society, a member of several other honor societies, and held offices in several clubs. An avid musician, she received the Six-Year Award for her performances in the All-Northwest Honor Choir, and placed in the All-State Honor Choir twice. She was selected to the NAfME National Mixed Choir, placed in University of Tennessee’s piano competition, and was selected to participate in the Vocal Performance Summer Program with the director of Opera at the University of Notre Dame. Marisa will double major in biology and vocal performance at Washington University in St. Louis.

Meredith Maroney, AP Scholar with Honor, was a member of National Honor Society and Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica. She was president of Social Science Honor Society, vice president of Spanish Club, secretary of Tri-M, and chaplain of National English Honor Society. Meredith participated in the Spanish study abroad program. Active in choir, she received Solo Ensemble Superior Rating four times. She was first chair in the 2013 All-West Honor Choir, and received a Six-Year Award. She was a participant in the 2013 NAfME All-National Honor Choir and the 2012-2014 WTVMEA All-State Honor Choir. Meredith was a co-organizer of the “Be a Better U” assembly series and the lead actress in several USJ musicals. Meredith will major in journalism and electronic media at UT Knoxville.

Banks Mayo, who plans to study English in college, is undecided about his college choice. Banks was active in theater and was a member of the French Club.

Semaye Mengistu was president of Environmental Club, treasurer of Mu Alpha Theta, and senior class treasurer. He also was a member of Science National Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, National Honor Society, and several USJ clubs. He was a Science Bowl participant. Semaye will major in biology/pre-medicine at Rhodes.

Brette Moore, president of the French Club, participated in the French study abroad program. She is a member of the Art Club and Operation Smile Club, and was a contributor in the USJ fashion show. She runs a social justice blog and participates in online activism. Brette will major in wildlife biology at Mississippi State University.

Christophe Nabhan, AP Scholar with Honor, was president of Sociedad Honoraria 
Hispanica and was a member of several other honor societies. Christophe was active in theater and choir, selected for All-West choir twice and All-State Choir. He has a black belt in tae kwon do and was an accomplished soccer player both at USJ and in club league. Christophe was selected to the All-Region Soccer Team, Best of the West All-Tournament team, and the Olympic Development Program soccer team. Christophe will major in pre-medicine at Boston College.

Gram Northern, a member of several academic honor societies, will major in chemical engineering and minor in business and Spanish at UT Knoxville. Gram was treasurer of the Spanish Club and participated in the Spanish study abroad program. Gram ran cross country and was captain of the USJ inline hockey team. Co-captain and MVP of the Germantown Red Devils ice hockey team, Gram was the 2013 Mid-South Ice Hockey High School League scoring leader.
 
Harrison Norton will attend MTSU. He was a member of the 2013 TSSAA State Championship runner-up varsity tennis team and was also the individual TSSAA State Championship tennis runner-up. Harrison was a member of the USJ choir and played church league basketball and inline hockey.

Austin Orr, who was voted Mr. USJ by his peers, was captain of the varsity football team, speaker of the Honor Council, president of the Spanish Club, new student ambassador, and participant in the Spanish study abroad program. He was named to the All-State Honor Choir twice. Successful in football, baseball, and basketball, he was the USJ Male Athlete of the Year in the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame. Austin was named the 2013 D-II West Offensive Football Player of the Year and selected to the Tennessee Sports Writers Association All-State Football Team. Austin will play baseball at Union University, where he will major in pre-medicine.

Joseph Patterson was varsity football co-captain and Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2013. Also succeeding in varsity baseball and basketball, Joseph was voted “Most Athletic” by his peers. He was a member of the 2012 TSSAA State Championship baseball team and the 2011 state championship runner-up football team. Joseph was named to the Tennessee Sports Writer’s All-State Team, the Division II-A West All District Team, and the All-West Tennessee Team in 2012 and 2013. Joseph will play football at Mississippi College.
 
Spencer Poole, an avid musician, will major in music business at Belmont University. Spencer was active in the choir, band, and Spanish Club, and was a contributor to the USJ literary magazine and USJ fashion show. He is often hired to play guitar professionally at events. Spencer was selected to the All-West Jazz Band for guitar and attended Governor’s School for the Arts in classical guitar.

Drew Presson, a member of the varsity golf team, plans to major in computer science at Jackson State. He was instrumental in media production with Lighthouse Church and aided with video production upgrades in his USJ broadcasting class. Drew amassed more community service hours than any other USJ senior and will receive the Community Service Award.

Lauren Randolph will major in English and minor in French and art at Rhodes. She is a three-year representative on the Honor Council, vice president of the National French Honor Society, co-editor of the yearbook, and president of National French Honor Society. Lauren received a Silver Key in the 2014 Scholastic Art Competition, and she attended Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts. She served on the Jackson-Madison County Youth Court.

Patrick Richardson, a member of the varsity track and cross country teams, was active in choir, Chemistry Club, Spanish Club, and DSA Buddy Club. He was a member of Science National Honor Society, Socidedad Honoraria Hispanica, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Honor Society. Patrick plans to major in pre-medicine at Rhodes.

Austin Rogers, a Leadership University alum, was a member of the Science National Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, and several clubs. He placed second in the TMTA math competition. Austin was an active member of his youth group at West Jackson Baptist Church. Austin, a varsity football player, was named All-District in 2013. He will major in pre-medicine at Union University.

Kayla Rohlwing plans to major in pre-dentistry at Mississippi State. She was active in SADD, Art, French, Operation Smile, and DSA Buddy clubs, and was involved in the USJ fashion show. Kayla was a member of National Honor Society and was chaplain of National French Honor Society her junior year.

Sheffiga Rose was a member of National Art Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. She was involved with theater productions and the USJ art and fashion shows. Chaplain of Operation Smile Club her junior year, Sheffiga was a member of several clubs. Sheffiga will major in biology at University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Hannah Russell, AP Scholar, will major in bio-molecular engineering/pre-medicine and minor in Spanish at UT Knoxville. She was president of National Honor Society, treasurer of Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, chaplain of Tri-M, SGA historian, secretary of her junior class, and vice president of the DSA Buddy Club. She was a Madison County Youth Court Juror. Hannah participated in the Spanish study abroad program. An enthusiastic musician, Hannah was a four-year WTVMEA Solo Ensemble Superior Vocalist, a four-year Fall Festival Excellent/Superior Pianist, and a four-year member of the All-Northwest Choir.

Leah Sanders was an AP Scholar, SGA treasurer, yearbook business manager, Chemistry Club president, vice president of National Science Honor Society, and active in other USJ organizations. She was a member of Madison County Teen Court. Leah placed first in the HITES engineering competition at the University of Tennessee and was chosen to attend the MITE engineering program at the University of Texas. Leah plans to major in petroleum engineering at Louisiana State University where she received the Stamps Scholar Award.

Ethan Self, an Eagle Scout, will major in law, justice, and society at Lipscomb University. Ethan was president of SADD Club, vice president of Operation Smile Club, and treasurer of International Club. He was a member of National Art Honor Society and the Key Service, Art, and Spanish clubs. He was a designer in the USJ fashion show and a co-editor of the USJ literary magazine. Ethan was active in Fellowship Student Ministries.

Hunter Smith, varsity basketball captain and volunteer basketball coach for a youth team, was named Most Improved Player and Most Congenial. He was a member of International, Key Service, SADD, Spanish, and Operation Smile clubs. He was active in West Jackson Baptist Church youth group and Young Life. He will attend UT Knoxville.

Jessi Smith was a member of several clubs and served on the yearbook staff. Co-captain of the varsity basketball team, she received All-District Honorable Mention. She played varsity volleyball and ran track, and was active in Young Life and West Jackson Baptist youth group. Jessi will attend University of Tennessee, Chattanooga.

Whitson Smith was president of Tri-M, a member of Science National Honor Society and several clubs, and active in band and theater. Whitson was captain of the cross country team and co-captain of the track and field team. He was active in Fellowship Student Ministries. Whitson will major in pre-law at UT Knoxville.

Leah Margaret Strope, varsity cheerleading captain, was named a 2012 All-American Cheerleader and was a member of the 2010-2012 Regional Cheerleading Championship team and won other accolades as a member of the cheerleading squad. Leah Margaret served as secretary of her class, vice president of Key Club, historian of DSA Buddy Club, and secretary of National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and SADD Club. Leah Margaret will major in communication sciences and disorders at Ole Miss.

Aisha Suara, AP Scholar with Distinction, was vice president of Mu Alpha Theta, a member of several academic honor societies, SGA parliamentarian her senior year, and SGA recording secretary her junior year. Aisha was the percussion section leader in the USJ band. She was a Volunteer Girls State delegate and attended Governor’s School for Emerging Technologies. She received the 2013 University of Rochester Frederick Douglas and Susan B. Anthony Award. Aisha volunteered at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and was a member of her youth group with Muslim Youth Network of Tennessee. Aisha will major in chemistry at Harvard College.

Monica Subia was a member of the Art Club, French Club, and Photography Club. She ran cross country and track. Monica was a contributor in the USJ fashion show. She plans to major in pre-dentistry at the University of Panama.

Graham Taylor, a Tennessee American Legion Boys State delegate, will major in accounting at UT Knoxville. He was a member of Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica and Mu Alpha Theta. He was captain of the football team. Graham was named an All-State tennis player, was the TSSAA State Championship doubles runner-up, and was a member of the TSSAA State Championship runner-up team.
Hensley Underwood transferred to USJ her senior year. She is a Leadership University alum and member of Mu Alpha Theta. Hensley is active in Young Life. She will major in diet and nutrition at Ole Miss.

Alyssa Willis was a member of SADD, Art, French, Operation Smile, and DSA Buddy clubs, and was involved in the USJ fashion show. Alyssa was a member of the varsity track team and the volleyball team, receiving All-West Tennessee honorable mention. Alyssa will major in athletic training at MTSU.

Carlee Workman was vice president of National Honor Society, SGA secretary, National Science Honor Society chaplain and National Art Honor Society chaplain, and a member of Mu Alpha Theta. She attended Governor’s School for the Arts. Carlee was a contributor in the USJ art and fashion show. She was a varsity cheerleader and ran track. She will major in pre-pharmacy at UT Knoxville.

Hannah Aherrera, an AP Scholar, will attend Saint Louis University, major in biology/pre-med and minor in music and Spanish as part of the Saint Louis University Honors and Medical Scholars Programs. Hannah was a five-year member and accompanist for the All-Northwest Honor Choir and named to the All-State Honor Choir twice. She also held an officer position in several organizations and played tennis.

Hunter Anthony, captain of the varsity soccer team, plans to study business management. He was named to the All-Region and All-District teams and was twice named Regional MVP. Hunter participated in theater, Young Life, and the International and Spanish clubs. He has not yet decided on a college.

Brooks Antwine plans to major in pre-med at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. As a sophomore, he attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law and CSI in Washington, D.C. Brooks played football for four years and participated in the International, SADD, and Spanish clubs. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.

Andrea Arreaza will major in marketing and minor in business at UT Knoxville. She was the Spanish Club secretary and varsity volleyball team captain, was named to the All-State volleyball team, and was voted “Most Beautiful” by her classmates. Andrea was a member of the National Art Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, and several clubs.

Olivia Baker, who participated in 15 Middle and Upper School musicals, will attend Belmont University to double major in French and communication studies. She placed both regionally and nationally in the National French Exam for three years. Olivia, an AP Scholar, was named to the All-Northwest Honor Choir. She was president of the National English Honor Society and vice president of Société Honoraire de Français.

Kimberlee Ballard, a recipient of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Gold Key, will major in architecture and design at UT Knoxville. Kimberlee was a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Art Honor Society. Last summer, Kimberlee visited Costa Rica as part of a full-immersion Spanish-language travel study program with USJ.

Selena Bright received a Fine Arts Guild Summer Art Scholarship. Selena also served as a peer juror for the Madison County Juvenile Court and was a member of the Art Club, Photography Club, and Operation Smile Club. She has not yet decided where she will attend college.

Kelly Bryan, who attended Governor’s School for the Arts in dance, plans to major in business at UT Knoxville. Kelly won a first place in the West Tennessee Student Art Exhibition and is a member of the National Art Honor Society.

Tyler Buckley, voted “Best Smile” by his peers, will attend UT Knoxville. Tyler played football and was named All-District Lineman in 2011 and 2012. During his senior season, he was named All-State Center and The Jackson Sun’s West Tennessee Lineman of the Week.

Rachel Butler plans to play soccer at Freed- Hardeman University. She was a four-year starter for the two-time state champion Lady Bruins soccer team and a three-year member of the track team. Rachel was a member of the National Art Honor Society, participated in several other clubs, and was a freshman class officer.

Jackson Cain plans to attend UT Knoxville. He played four years of varsity soccer and was named to the All-West Tennessee Honor Choir. Jackson was a member of the Science National Honor and Tri-M Music Honor societies.

Trace Carlock, voted “Most Likely to be Remembered” by the senior class, plans to major in business at the University of Mississippi. He played varsity football, ran track, and was a member of the Spanish and Key Service clubs.

Catherine Christie will major in business and accounting at Auburn University. She was co-captain of the nationally ranked varsity cheerleading squad, a Girls State delegate, Student Government Association treasurer, and a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, and several interest groups.

Kyle Clifton, co-founder of the Ping Pong Club, will major in pre-nursing at UT Knoxville. He was a four-year varsity football player, played basketball, and ran track. Kyle was a member of Young Life, Key Service Club, and Spanish Club.

Katherine Cloar, who transferred to USJ during her junior year, plans to major in political science at the University of Colorado Boulder. She joined the band at USJ and was most proud of being awarded “Best Witness for the Defense” in the 2011 Tennessee Mock Trial Competition before coming to USJ.

Brandon Conaway will major in pre-med at Union University. He played defender on the varsity soccer team. Brandon was the class recipient of the President’s Award for Academic Excellence. He also was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Science National Honor Society, and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica.

Parker Darnall will attend UT Knoxville to study engineering. He was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Science National Honor Society, and National Honor Society. He is co-captain for the state-ranked Germantown Red Devils Ice Hockey team and captain of the USJ intramural inline hockey team. Parker was honored as a Tennessee Leader of Tomorrow by the UT Madison County Alumni Chapter and awarded the Xerox Award for Innovation and Information Technology.

Darby Douglas, who transferred to USJ for her senior year, will major in chemical engineering at UT Knoxville. Already academically accomplished at her previous school, Darby joined the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Tri-M Music Honor Society at USJ.

Eliza Edwards, a Miss Basketball finalist and varsity basketball team captain, will attend UT Knoxville. Eliza was the Division II A Player of the Year in 2013. She was named to the All-State basketball team in 2013, All-District and All-Tournament teams for three years, and All-West Tennessee team. Active in several groups, she organized a mentoring program for freshmen girls.

Donovan Eubank, an Eagle Scout, will play soccer for Martin Methodist College in Pulaski and major in nursing. He was captain of the varsity soccer team and named to the Best of the West All-Tournament team in 2012. Donovan was a member of the Spanish and Key Service clubs.

Peyton Fendley, selected “Wittiest” by his peers, will attend the University of Mississippi to major in banking and finance. He was a member of the 2012 state champion baseball team and a four-year member of the basketball team, serving as team captain during his senior year.

La’Ciera Ford-Bass, co-captain of the nationally ranked USJ cheer team, will major in accounting at Mississippi State University. La’Ciera completed the study abroad program in Costa Rica and was a member of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. She is a Leadership University graduate and was SADD Club treasurer, International Club secretary, and Key Service Club co-service chairperson. She helped organize the first senior- to-freshman mentor group.

Alex Garey, a seven-year band member, will major in engineering at Union University. Alex is a four-year member of the football team and was named All-District, All-West Tennessee, and Player of the Week during his senior season. He also played for the intramural inline hockey team and was a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.

Ryan Garner plans to major in exercise and sports science at the University of Memphis. The varsity football and baseball team captain was the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Division II A All-State football and baseball selection in 2011 and 2012. The Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association chose him as the Division II A 2012 Baseball Player of the Year. He was named to the Oklahoma Jr. Sunbelt winning “Team Tennessee” baseball squad.

Anna Garrett, a Girls State delegate and Leadership University graduate, will attend the University of Alabama to major in pre-physical therapy. Anna was a member of Mu Alpha Theta and the National Honor Society. As a four-year member and co-captain of the Lady Bruins basketball team, her peers voted her “Most Athletic.”

Colleen Gilroy plans to major in psychology and elementary education at Union. The senior class selected her as “Most Likely to Be Remembered.” She was a member of the National Honor Society and Social Science Honor Society. Colleen was a participant in the arts with submissions in the “Trashin’ Fashion” show and in the USJ literary magazine. She also was cast in multiple USJ play productions.

Adam Glassman, a member of the All-District football team, the All-West Tennessee football team, National Honor Society, and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, will study kinesiology at UT Knoxville. He served as captain of the varsity track and field team and was involved in theater, choir, Young Life, and several interest groups.

Michael Grant, a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society and the Spanish Club, was in the Bruin band for seven years and participated in 18 musical productions. A varsity soccer player, he was voted “Most Likely to be Remembered.” Michael will be a member of the Innovation Vocal Ensemble at Jackson State Community College.

Philip Griggs, an AP Scholar, will major in pre-med and minor in Spanish at Southern Methodist University. He completed the USJ study abroad program in Costa Rica, was recognized as an Outstanding Participant in the National Achievement Program, attended Boys State, was a Junior Rotarian, and graduated from Leadership University. A member of the National Honor Society and several other academic honor societies, Philip was president of the SADD Club, vice president of the Science National Honor Society, and a member of the Honor Council.

Rachel Grimm will attend Lipscomb to major in biology. She was president of the National Art Honor Society and the Art Club and vice president of the Photography Club and International Club. Rachel is a member of Mu Alpha Theta.

Sarah Haltom, who studied abroad during the summer of 2012 in Costa Rica, will major in genetics and biology at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. She was a member of the district champion 2010 Envirothon team, the National Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society. Sarah was active in several clubs and exhibited projects in the USJ art shows and fashion shows.

Tyler Hardin will play baseball for Murray State and major in pre-physical therapy. He was a member of the 2012 TSSAA Division II state baseball championship team and the 2009 and 2011 TSSAA Division II state football championship runner-up teams. Tyler was named to the All-State football team and the All-District and All-West baseball teams.

Niall Harlan will major in engineering at UT Knoxville. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Science National Honor Society, vice president of Mu Alpha Theta, vice president of the SADD Club, and a member of the 2009 Honor Choir.

Sam Henderson plans to major in physical therapy at UT Knoxville. He was a member of Young Life, the International Club, Key Service Club, Spanish Club, and the varsity track team.

Chase Hensley, Mr. Football winner for 2012, will play football at Arkansas Tech University. Chase was named the West Tennessee Defensive Lineman of the Year, All-State in 2011 and 2012, and was a Mr. Football finalist in 2011. He also played varsity basketball, was a member of the 2012 state champion Bruins baseball team, and was involved in special interest groups.

Tessa Holder will attend UT Knoxville. She was a member of the National Art Honor Society and earned the Art I and Art II Rising Artist Awards and the Art III Outstanding Artist Award. Her work was exhibited in the USJ Art Show and Fashion Show. She was a member of several clubs.

Alex Hollman will attend UT Knoxville. A National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta member, Alex also participated in the National Youth Leadership Forum and was a two-year participant in the Madison County Teen Court program.

Bailey Howell, the Student Government Association secretary, will major in nursing at Union. She is a graduate of Leadership University and was Key Service Club treasurer and Tri-M Music Honor Society vice president. Bailey was active in several groups and a junior volunteer at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Cory Johnson will major in Spanish and biology at Union. He was a three-year member of the All-Northwest Choir, International Club treasurer, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica historian, and a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Science National Honor Society.

Margaret Jones, Miss USJ, will major in marketing and communications at Southern Methodist University. She was a varsity cheerleader co-captain, yearbook editor, senior class president, vice president of the National Honor Society and National English Honor Society, and a member of Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica and Mu Alpha Theta. Margaret completed USJ’s travel study program in Costa Rica.

Jacob Lifsey, a four-year member of the varsity cross country team and the band, will major in audio engineering at Delta State University. He was a Tri-M Music Honor Society member and received a Fine Arts Guild Scholarship to attend the Delta State Music Institute Camp for audio engineering. Jacob also was a member of the National Honor Society and used his music and sound skills in USJ play productions.

Colton Little will major in aerospace engineering at Mississippi State. He was a member of the 2012 TSSAA Division II state baseball championship team and the 2009 and 2011 TSSAA Division II state football championship runner-up teams. Colton earned second place in Algebra II and sixth in Calculus and Advanced Topics at the TMTA 2012 and 2013 math competitions.

Sarah Mantooth will study elementary education at Lee University. She was a member of the National Honor Society and several other groups, historian of the National Art Honor Society, and chaplain for the Down Syndrome Association Buddy Club and Photography Club. Sarah received two Silver Key Awards from the Mid-South Scholastic Art Competition for her photography.

James-Roland Markos, an AP Scholar, was selected to the Lott Institute at the University of Mississippi. He will double major in biological sciences and public policy leadership. James-Roland was president of Mu Alpha Theta and a member of the National Honor Society and several other academic honor societies. He was captain of the varsity tennis team and a member of the 2009 state champion tennis team. He won the Sewanee Book Award for Excellence in Writing. As a senior, he attended the prestigious Senate Youth Program in Washington, D.C.

Angelica Marks will major in biology at the University of Pittsburgh. She received the All-Northwest Honor Choir four-year award and was chosen for the All-State Women’s Chorale. Angelica participated in the travel study program to Costa Rica and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Reed Matheny plans to major in pre-med at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He was a five-year member of the varsity baseball team, including the 2012 state championship team. Reed was named to the All-Northwest Honor Choir four years and was in seven theatrical productions.

Lance McGee, a trombone and baritone player, will major in civil engineering at the University of Memphis. He received a six-year award for All-Northwest Honor Choir and played in the orchestra for several musical productions. He also was goalie for USJ’s intramural inline hockey team.

Emily Mitchell was awarded the American Vision Award for her “Target Dress” at the Mid-South Scholastic Art Awards, a Gold Key by the Mid-South Scholastic Art Awards, and Best in Show at the UT Martin Student Art Competition.

Todd Moon plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was a member of the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society. Todd’s artwork has won numerous awards and was featured in the USJ Art Show.

Austin Morganti will attend Mississippi State. He was a member of the International Club, Key Service Club, SADD Club, and Spanish Club. Austin’s classmates voted him “Cutest” in the senior class.

Michael Mysiewicz will play soccer at Bethel University and major in business. While at USJ, Michael was named to the All-District team three times, the All-Region team twice, and the All-State team in 2012. He also was a member of several special interest groups, ran cross country, and played basketball.

Abby Nolen plans to study pre-medicine at Mississippi State. She was a member of the USJ Choir, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, National Honor Society, and varsity track team. Abby also traveled to Costa Rica in the Spanish immersion program.

Baker Norsworthy will attend the University of Mississippi where he plans to study mechanical engineering. Baker was a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Key Service Club, SADD Club, and Environmental Club.

Akua Nuako, an AP Scholar with Distinction, will attend Harvard College to study biomedical engineering. She was president of the Student Government Association, SGA secretary her junior year, and a class officer for two years. She was a member of the National Honor Society and several other academic honor societies. Akua received state ranking for four years at the TMTA Math Competition and was selected to receive the Yale Award and the University of Rochester Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award.

Anna Clare Pearson will major in international business at Rhodes College. She played on the state championship women’s soccer teams in 2011 and 2012. Anna Clare was Operation Smile Club president and a member of Mu Alpha Theta and several special interest clubs.

John Pierce was selected to the Croft Institute at the University of Mississippi to major in international business. He was a member of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, National Science Honor Society, and National Honor Society and served as the Spanish Club president and the SADD Club vice president. John played football, ran track, and was a member of several other clubs.

Mitchell Wade Porter will attend Baptist College of Health Sciences to study pre-medical radiography. A member of Tri-M Music Honor Society, USJ band, and French Club, he played percussion in the Jackson Community Band.

Currie Powell will attend UT Knoxville to study psychology. He received the medal in Psychology for the highest class average. Currie was voted “Most Changed” by his peers and was a member of the International, Key Service, SADD, and Environmental clubs and the football team.

Emily Priddy, co-captain of the USJ cheer squad, will attend UT Knoxville to major in engineering. Emily was co-editor of the yearbook and a member of the SADD Club, Environmental Club, French Club, Operation Smile Club, and Mu Alpha Theta.

Caroline Purcell will pursue a degree in dance performance at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is a senior performing member of Ballet Arts, Inc. and attended several summer intensives for dance: Radio City Rockettes in New York for four years; and Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, D.C; Orlando Ballet; Joffrey Ballet; and American Ballet Theatre for two years. She was accepted to the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts and was Tri-M treasurer.

Madeline Ray was a member of the Photography Club and Operation Smile Club and Art Club treasurer. She was a four-year member of the varsity golf team and competed at the state level her freshman and senior years. She plans to study psychology. She has not yet decided on a college.

Jourdan Redden will major in English at Sewanee: The University of the South. He was recording secretary and vice president for the Student Government Association and a graduate of Leadership University. Jourdan was team captain of the varsity cross country team and a member of National Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, and National English Honor Society.

Lauren Riddell will play softball and study physical therapy at Middle Tennessee State University. Lauren was a five-year member of the two-time state championship Lady Bruin softball team and a three-year captain. Widely recognized for her softball talent, Lauren was a 2013 Wendy’s Heisman State finalist, named three times to the All-State, All-Region Tournament, and All-District Tournament teams, and named All-Region and All-District MVP in 2011 and 2012. Lauren was a member of the National Honor Society.

Katie Robertson plans to study photography at Memphis College of Art. She founded the Photography Club and was instrumental in getting a photography class added as an art department elective. She also served as vice president of the Art Club. Katie won a Silver Key for photography in the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition.

Austin Rolison plans to study commercial music at MTSU. He was a four-year member of USJ Singers and was selected three times for the All-Northwest Honor Choir. His musical recording was selected to be part of USJ’s literary magazine, and his band recorded a single in 2011.

Kelsey Ross will study pre-medicine at the University of Alabama. A graduate of Leadership University, she served as secretary of SADD Club, vice president of Operation Smile Club, and president of the French Club and the 
Société Honoraire de Français.

Kacee Russell will study music business at MTSU. She was selected for the All-Northwest Honor Choir four times and qualified to audition for the-All State Honor Choir.

Ryan Sanderson will attend UT Knoxville and major in international business. A four-year member of the varsity football team, Ryan was an All-District and All-West Tennessee player. He was selected for the All-Northwest Honor Choir six times and All-State Choir twice. He performed in many USJ musicals. An AP Scholar, Ryan was a member of six honor societies, a Boys State representative and a Junior Rotarian.

Logan Schultz will major in engineering at UT Chattanooga. He is a teen court volunteer and participated in theater, Young Life, International Club, Key Service Club, Spanish Club, and football. He was a four-year member of the baseball team.

Sally Sikes was accepted into the Honors College and Early Entry Pharmacy program at the University of Mississippi. She was National Honor Society service chair, National Science Honor Society secretary, Société Honoraire de Français chaplain, Tri-M Music Honor Society secretary, class secretary, and student ambassador. Sally played both basketball and volleyball for four years and was captain of both teams. She received All-West and All-District Honors, was on the All-Northwest and All-State Honor Choirs, and won a six-year award.

Connor Simmons will major in accounting at Mississippi State. Elected class treasurer his junior and senior years, he was a member of the National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, several service clubs, and the varsity golf and track teams. He was chosen to the All-Northwest Honor Choir six times. He received the six-year award and the All-State Honor Choir twice.

Troy Smigielski plans to major in biology at the University of Alabama. He was chairman of the Science National Honor Society, a member of the National Honor Society, an All-State football player, and four-year soccer player. He was named “Madison County Hall of Fame Student Athlete of the Year 2013.”

Lindsay Smith will attend Samford University to major in family life counseling. She was a member of the National Honor Society and treasurer of the National English Honor Society, president of the Key Service Club, chaplain of the Student Government Association, and active in several interest groups. Lindsay was a Girls State delegate. The All-Northwest Honor Choir gave her the six-year award, and she qualified for All-State Honor Choir three times.

Powers Spencer, Mr. USJ, will major in international business and play football at Sewanee: The University of the South. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. Powers was a Mr. Football finalist and two-time All-State selection.

Turner Spurlin, an Eagle Scout, will attend the University of Alabama and major in marketing. He was a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta.

Caroline Stallings will major in communication sciences and disorders at the University of Mississippi. She was a four-year varsity and competitive cheerleader and UCA All-American Cheerleader and served as cheer co-captain this year. Voted “Most Changed” by her peers, Caroline was Key Service Club historian and on the yearbook staff three years.
Hunter Stewart will attend UT Knoxville to major in engineering. He was a member of Young Life, International Club, and Spanish Club. Hunter played varsity football and tennis.

John Teague plans to major in business administration at UT Knoxville. He played four years of varsity football and was an All-District Honorable Mention. John was a member of the International Club and Spanish Club.

Trey Teel, a four-year and founding member of the USJ Honor Council, will attend Mississippi State to study bio-chemistry and Spanish. He was accepted into the Honors College. Trey was the varsity golf and varsity basketball captain, president of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, senior class chaplain, and a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and several other groups.

Ross Thomas, an AP Scholar, will attend UT Knoxville to study biological sciences. He was president of the Science National Honor Society and a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the National Honor Society, and several other groups. Ross participated in the Spanish immersion program in Costa Rica.

Peyton Vaughan, a four-year and founding member of the USJ Honor Council, will study pre-medicine at the University of Mississippi. He was Honor Council speaker, National Honor Society president, and a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Science National Honor Society, and Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. He was a six-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir.

John Villarreal will attend Union to major in engineering. He was selected to the All-Northwest Honor Choir six times and All-State Honor Choir three times and was the pianist for the All-Northwest choir his freshman year. He earned first place in the state for Algebra II at the TMTA Math Competition and was the medalist in Honors Algebra II/Algebra I, Honors Geometry, Honors and AP Chemistry, and Spanish I and Honors Spanish III.

Dana Viveros plans to major in zoology/biology at Union. She is a pianist and guitarist and volunteered in the Middle School after-school art program. Dana was a member of the Art Club and French Club and participated in USJ’s Art Show and the fashion show.

Kaylie Wehner will major in pre-physical therapy at UT Knoxville. A softball player, she was a member of the two-time state championship Lady Bruins softball team and yearbook co-editor.

Christopher Weiner will major in social work at the University of Missouri. He was a member of the National Honor Society and chaplain of Tri-M Music Honor Society. Chris was nationally ranked in the National French Exam four times, was named to the All-State, All-Northwest, and Quad-State honor choirs, and was recognized for his acting talent in several USJ productions.

Grace Woodside, a graduate of Leadership University, will attend the University of Mississippi. She was member of the varsity track and cross country teams, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, Key Service Club, Young Life, Operation Smile, choir, and Spanish Club. She participated in USJ theater productions and was a Symphony Ambassador.

Hannah Woodward will major in graphic design at MTSU. She attended the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Visual Arts. Hannah’s artwork was accepted into the West Tennessee Regional Juried Art Competition in 2009 and 2012, and she won a Silver Key in the Mid-South Scholastic Art Competition in 2012. She was a member of the Art and Photography clubs and exhibited her artwork in the USJ art show and fashion show.

Rachel Altfeld, the regional religious and cultural vice president of the North American Federation of Temple Youth-Eisendrath International Exchange, was an exchange student in Israel for a semester. At USJ, she served on the yearbook staff and was a National Honor Society member. Rachel will attend the University of Arizona.

Sidney Anthony, IV, an Eagle Scout, plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Sy was a National Honor Society member and Head of School Scholar. He was also a four-year member of the football team and attended the National Youth Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. his junior year.

Karrington Atkins will attend the University of New England. She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Science National Honor Society. She served as historian for the National Art Honor Society and was Photography Club president.

Thomas Ballard, IV, played football for three years and was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Science National Honor Society. Thomas will attend UT Knoxville.

Varsha Balram transferred to University School of Jackson her junior year. She will attend Tennessee Tech University and plans to major in bio-molecular engineering.

Weston Barrix played varsity golf for four years and was a member of Key Club, Film Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He will attend the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Angad Singh Bindra, an AP Scholar, will attend Washington University at St. Louis. He was a Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award recipient and attended the Governor’s School for Scientific Models and Data Analysis. He placed ninth in the state at the TMTA Geometry competition.

Adam Boling was a four-year member of the football team and was selected for the All-State team by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association. He was selected as the Division IIA West Co-Offensive Line MVP and the 2010 District IIA West Offensive Lineman of the Year. Adam will attend Bethel University where he will play football.

Andrew Bosco was a three-year Spanish Club member and plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Drew Brantley was chaplain of both the Tri-M Honor Society and Photography Club. He participated in spring and fall musicals and received the Rising Senior Award in Theatre. Drew was selected to the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir four years and the All-State Choir two years. He will attend Rockford College in Illinois.

Westin Brantley was a member of the 2011 state runner-up varsity football team. He was also a member of Operation Smile Club and a three-year member of the track team. He is undecided about his college choice.

William Buckley, who was cast in the role of Count Malachi in USJ’s production of Happy Days, was a two-year Concert Choir member and was selected to perform with the Tennessee All- Northwest High School Honor Choir three years. He was also a member of the football team three years. Will plans to attend UT Chattanooga.

Thomas Butler, IV, an Eagle Scout and Boys State delegate, was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Science National Honor Society. A four-year Homecoming representative, he played four years of football and earned the All-Region Honorable Mention Award twice. Thomas will attend UT Knoxville.

Jonathan Cain played four years of varsity football, was named to the All-District and All-West Tennessee teams, and voted senior class Homecoming representative. Jonathan was a Concert Choir member and was selected for the AllNorthwest Tennessee Honor Choir three times. He was also a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. He will attend UT Knoxville.

Nicholas Camp, a class officer and a member of the National Honor Society and National English Honor Society, received an academic excellence award in Advanced Placement U.S. History. Nick will attend Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois.

Courtney Campbell, a member of the National Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society, was active in Key Club, SADD Club, and Operation Smile Club. She will attend UT Martin and major in nursing.

Francis Chandler, a four-year tennis player, was a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Science National Honor Society, and National English Honor Society. She will attend Rhodes College.

Tanner Chapman, voted “Most Quotable” by his peers, was a three-year member of the varsity football team. He was a four-year member of USJ Singers and was active in the SADD Club and Key Club. Tanner will attend UT Knoxville.

Carrie Cobb was an All-State soccer player and a member of the soccer state championship teams in 2011 and 2012. Carrie, a National Merit Commended Scholar, served as the 2011 Science Bowl championship team captain. She will play soccer for Rhodes College.

Jacob Cohen, voted “Most Spirited” by the class of 2012, was National Honor Society president and junior class president. A four-time, top three competitor in the Tennessee Mathematics Teacher’s Association math competition, Jacob was an active member of Mu Alpha Theta. He will attend Wofford College in South Carolina.

Nathan Craig was a member of the National Art Honor Society, Environmental Club, Art Club, and Operation Smile Club. While attending USJ, he played golf and ran track. Nathan will attend UT Chattanooga.

Margaret Crocker, founder and president of Operation Smile Club, completed medical missions in India and China. She was a member of the National Art Honor Society and received the Rhodes Book Award for Philanthropic Leadership her junior year. Margaret was voted “Best Smile” by her peers. She will attend Louisiana State University.

Jessica Crosnoe, a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, SADD Club, Key Club, Film Club, and Operation Smile Club, ran for the cross-country and track teams. Jessica was active in Young Life for four years. She was a three-year member of the soccer team. Jessica will attend UT Knoxville.

Whitney Culbreath, a Leadership University graduate, was a cheer squad captain and two-time UCA All-American cheerleader. Chaplain of Tri-M Honor Society and SADD Club president, Whitney was voted a senior superlative by her peers. She will attend the University of Alabama.

Jacob Daggett, a member of the National Art Honor Society, ran track and was voted “Most Spirited” by his peers. Jake will major in mechanical engineering at the University of Arkansas.

Bethany Dietz was a member of the two-time state championship soccer team. She was the Science National Honor Society president, Mu Alpha Theta secretary, and a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society. Bethany will attend UT Knoxville where she will major in chemical engineering.

Kirstie Finch maintained perfect attendance throughout her 14 years at USJ. She was the Spanish National Honor Society president and a member of the 2012 Tennessee All-State Honor Choir. She was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by her peers. Kirstie will attend UT Knoxville.

Morgan Galbraith was a National Honor Society member and secretary of the Photography Club and Environmental Club. She won the Scholastic Gold Key Award in photography. Morgan will attend UT Knoxville.

John Ross Glover, a two-time Division IIA Mr. Basketball winner and the West Tennessee Player of the Year, was the Tennessee nominee for the McDonald’s All-American Award. The Tennessee Sports Writers Association named John Ross to the All-State basketball team three consecutive years. He will attend Lipscomb University where he will play basketball.

Ainsley Gompf was the National English Honor Society vice president and Spanish National Honor Society secretary. She also served as the Lower School yearbook editor and the Upper School yearbook co-editor. She will attend High Point University in North Carolina.

Kyle Gregory, a member of the baseball and golf teams, transferred to USJ his junior year. He was a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Kyle will attend UT Knoxville.

Logan Hall was the National Honor Society secretary and Lower School yearbook editor. A four-year basketball, volleyball, and softball player, she was voted “Most Athletic” by the class of 2012. She will attend Mississippi State University.

Jacob Hamilton, a four-year soccer player and two-year cross-country runner, qualified to run at the state championship twice. Jacob volunteers for the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse and was a member of Operation Smile Club. He will attend Austin Peay State University.

Caroline Haynes was named Most Outstanding Choir Student twice, selected to the Quad State Honor Choir, and received the six-year award in the All-Northwest Honor Choir. She was a four-year Head of School Scholar and vice president of Tri-M Music Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. Caroline plans to attend Rhodes College.

Honeye Heydari, a member of the two-time state championship soccer team, set a USJ record of 149 goals scored in four years. She was named to the All-State soccer team four times and was part of the track relay team that won State in 2009. Honeye was also a National Art Honor Society member. She will play soccer at Mississippi State.

Edward Hockaday, III, was voted “Best Personality” by his peers. He was a senior Honor Council representative and helped draft the USJ Honor Code. Edward was a four-year football player and named to the All-Region Honorable Mention team twice. He will attend UT Knoxville.

Dustin Hopper, an Outstanding Art Student, was a member of the National Art Honor Society, Art Club, and French Club. He will major in graphic design at the Memphis College of Art.

Sarah Howard, voted “Best Personality” by the class of 2012, was yearbook co-editor and Student Government Association chaplain. She served as class secretary two years. Sarah will attend Samford University in Alabama.

Cody Howell, a member of Mu Alpha Theta and SADD Club, played soccer three years. Cody will attend UT Knoxville and major in business.
Stuart Howell, a four-year tennis player and part of the 2009 state championship team, recently won his bracket in the 2012 Rotary Individual Tennis Tournament. He was selected to the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir three years. Stuart will attend Murray State University.

Olivia Hughes, a captain of the nationally- ranked USJ cheer squad, was voted Homecoming Queen and “Most Talented” by her peers. She was vice president of the National Art Honor Society and SADD Club and a member of the Science National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Olivia will attend the University of Georgia.

T.J. Ivy, a member of the National Honor Society, SADD Club, and Chemistry Club, served as secretary of Key Club. He received an academic award in World Religion. T.J. will attend UT Knoxville where he plans to study pre-dentistry.

Callie Jaggers was a founding member of the Honor Council and served as Speaker. She was also a National Honor Society member and chaplain of the Science National Honor Society and Key Club. Callie was an active member of Young Life. She will attend UT Knoxville.

Mina James-Gist is a flautist with the Jackson Symphony Youth Orchestra and a member of Jack and Jill of America. She attended Governor’s School and was a lead organizer for Art in the Park, 2012. Mina plans to attend the University of Michigan where she will major in biomedical engineering.

Adam Johnson was a four-year honor roll student. He was a member of the National Honor Society, National French Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Adam was awarded the medal for highest achievement in Research and Library Operations. Adam will attend UT Knoxville.

Shelby Jordan, daughter of Frank and Celia Jordan, was secretary and a founding officer of Operation Smile Club. She went to China on a medical mission and attended the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. Voted “Most Likely to be Remembered” by her peers, Shelby will attend UT Chattanooga.

Shelby Jordan, daughter of David and Carilyn Jordan, was a three-time state champion athlete: the 3200-meter relay championship team anchor in 2009 and the Division IIA state championship soccer team captain in 2010 and 2011. She was All-State in soccer, track, and cross-country and earned the High School Heisman and Female Athlete of the Year Award in 2012. She will play soccer at Mississippi State.

Elizabeth Joyner, a member of the National Art Honor Society, Art Club, Spanish Club, and Key Club, will major in elementary education at Union University.

Prabhjot Kaur transferred to USJ as a junior. She plans to major in pre-medicine and is undecided about her college choice.
Oscar Leon was Spanish Club vice president and a member of the National Spanish Honor Society. He played on the soccer team. Oscar will attend Mississippi State where he will double major in international business and Spanish.

Michael Lindsey was a four-year member of the baseball team and selected as a starting player his senior year. He will attend Jackson State Community College to major in agri-business and farm and ranch management.

Ann Elizabeth Lynch, selected for the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Visual Arts, was a Tennessee American Legion Auxiliary Girls State delegate. She was a National Art Honor Society member and a five-year member of the golf team. Ann Elizabeth will play golf at Union University.

Gray Magee, who played the lead role of Fonzie in the USJ production of Happy Days, was voted “Most Likely to Succeed” by the senior class. He served as class vice president four years and received the medal for academic excellence in AP Biology. Gray will attend Union University.

Grant Mansfield, a recipient of the Max Prep Defensive Player of the Week Award, was named to the All-State/All-Region/All-District football teams. Grant was selected to the All- Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir three years and was a member of the USJ Concert Choir and Tri-M Music Honor Society. He will attend UT Chattanooga.

Meredith Masterson was a member of the two-time state championship soccer team and the tennis team. She will attend UT Chattanooga and major in nursing.

Lee Mayhall, a three-sport athlete, was voted “Mr. USJ” and Homecoming King by his classmates. Lee broke four state records in football, was named All-State three times, and was a Mr. Football finalist. He will play football for the University of North Alabama.

Trevor McGee, a four-year baseball player, was a member of National Honor Society, Chemistry Club, and Concert Choir. He will play baseball and major in biology at Union University.
Ashton McGuire was a four-year tennis player, qualifying for the state tournament each year. A member of Young Life and the Spanish Club, he will attend the University of Arkansas.

Price McKnight, an Eagle Scout, was Spanish Club treasurer, a member of the Science National Honor Society, and a three-year member of the soccer team. Price will major in biomedical engineering at the University of Arkansas.

Chloe Meriwether, voted “Miss USJ” by her peers, was a Junior Rotarian and a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Art Honor Society. She was a cheerleader four years and a squad captain her senior year. She will attend Rhodes College.

Anthony Micetich, a four-year Head of School Scholar, was a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Anthony was a varsity soccer team captain and named to the All-State soccer team in 2011. He will attend UT Knoxville.

Emily Mullins played tennis at USJ and was part of the 2009 state tennis championship team and the 2011 West Tennessee Honorable Mention tennis team. She was a National Art Honor Society member and named “Cutest” by her classmates. Emily plans to attend UT Chattanooga.

Cole Murray, a USJ Scholar his senior year, was a four-year member of the baseball team. He was active in Young Life and the SADD Club. Cole will attend UT Knoxville.

Chase Nelson, an All-State football player, was voted “Wittiest” by the senior class. He was a member of the National Honor Society and the Science National Honor Society. Chase will attend UT Knoxville.

Yusuke Niimi came to USJ from Japan as a sophomore. He was happy to have the opportunity to learn about American culture and graduate from USJ. He will return to Japan after graduation.

Ashley Nkadi, treasurer of the SADD Club, was voted “Most Quotable” by the senior class. She was a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, National French Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Ashley was recognized by the National Achievement Scholarship program her senior year. She will attend the University of Cincinnati.

Priyesh Patel was a member of the SADD Club and International Club. While traveling in India, he was able to assist the Operation Smile Club by donating money to repair a child’s cleft lip. Priyesh will attend the University of Memphis.

Roshni Patel, senior class secretary, was a member of the yearbook staff and vice president of Key Club. She also served as junior class chaplain. Roshni will attend UT Knoxville.

Bon Pinkley was a member of the National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the National Honor Society. He received the Best Male Actor Award for his role in Peter Pan. Bon will attend Harding University where he will major in pre-medicine.

Georgia Poole, Operation Smile Club vice president, traveled to China and India on medical missions. She was treasurer of Tri-M Music Honor Society and was selected to the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir. Georgia will attend the University of Arkansas.

Jordan Ragon, the National Art Honor Society treasurer, was a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. She held the positions of secretary, historian, and treasurer in the Student Government Association. Jordan, voted “Most School Spirited” by the senior class, was a cheer squad captain and an All-American Cheerleader. She will attend Tennessee Tech.

Lashlee Randolph was a National Art Honor Society member. She was awarded a 
Memphis College of Art Summer Scholarship, placed second in the Federal Duck Stamp Art Contest, and received honorable mention in the West Tennessee Regional Art Center Competition. Lashlee plans to attend UT Chattanooga.

Alexandra Revell was a runner for the 2010 regional championship cross-country team. She was a member of the National Art Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Ally will attend UT Chattanooga.

Michael Richards, Jr., was a National Honor Society member, a four-year member of the soccer team, and a three-year member of the football team. He was named to the Division IIA All-District football team and received Honorable Mention in 2011. Michael will attend UT Knoxville.

Rebecca Rogers was a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Honor Society. She attended the Governor’s School for the Arts. She was named to the All-State Honor Choir three times and the ACDA Southern Division Regional Honor Choir in 2012. Rebecca will attend Belmont University where she will major in vocal performance.

Chase Rushing was recognized by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association as part of the All-State football team, All-Region football team, All-District football team, and All-West football team. He also was named to the All-District soccer team. He will attend the University of Mississippi.

Sarathi Sarkar was a four-year band member and percussion section leader. A National Merit Commended Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction, he will major in aerospace and mechanical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University.

Caleb Self was a yearbook co-editor, Student Government Association parliamentarian, and AP Scholar. Caleb, an Eagle Scout, will attend Lipscomb University.

Brigham Short was the recipient of the Rising Senior Musical Theatre Scholarship and the 2012 Musical Theatre Superior Achievement Award. She was honored with the Best Actress Award for her performances in Peter Pan and Happy Days and was selected to the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir five times. Brigham was treasurer of Tri-M Music Honor Society. She will attend the University of Mississippi.

Aashray Singareddy, a Head of School Scholar, was a member of the Science 
National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and National Honor Society. Aashray will major in mathematics at Rhodes College.

Navjot Singh, a member of the Chess Club, transferred to USJ as a junior. He will major in pre-medicine at Union University.

Ranjodh Singh, who transferred to USJ as a junior, plans to major in pre-medicine and is undecided about his college choice.

Sara Slack was a member of the 2010 and 2011 state soccer championship teams. She received a Best Design Award in the 2011 Dashboard for Design Fashion Show and the 2011 Outstanding Art II Award. Sara, selected as an alternate for the Governor’s School for Arts, will attend Mississippi State.

Brandon Smith, a four-year football player, was a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Brandon also was a graduate of Leadership University. He will attend Rhodes College.

Anthony Spates, recipient of the 2012 Jackson Hall of Fame Scholar-Athlete Scholarship, was a four-year member of the football and track teams and a three-year member of the basketball team. He served as the 2012 track team captain and was named to the All-District Honorable Mention football team. Anthony was a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and Science National Honor Society. He will attend the University of Missouri at Columbia.

Haley Stafford was a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and Key Club. She will attend Union University to major in elementary education.

Benjamin Stuart was a four-year member of the football team and a two-year member of the tennis team. He was a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society and USJ Singers. Benjamin will attend Mississippi State.

Habeeb Suara, a National Achievement finalist, attended the Governor’s School for the Sciences. He was the Student Government vice president and a three-year member of the All-West Tennessee band. Habeeb will major in biomedical engineering at the University of Pennsylvania.
Jackson Teer, a National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society member, was a two-year All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir member and four-year soccer player. Jackson plans to attend UT Knoxville to major in pre-dentistry.

Hannah Turcotte, recipient of the George Eastman Young Leaders Award, was the Student Government Association president, yearbook editor, and a National Honor Society member. Hannah plans to major in pre-pharmacy at UT Chattanooga.

Shane Vargason, an AP Scholar with Honors and Head of School Scholar, played three sports: basketball, football, and track. He placed first in four divisions at the TMTA Regional Math Competition and was a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Science Honor Society. Shane will attend Mississippi State where he will major in aerospace and mechanical engineering.

Tyler Wallace, founder of the Political Club, was selected to serve on the Juvenile Court Board for Peer Mediation and recently won first place in the American Legion Regional Oratorical Competition. Tyler assisted in technical direction for USJ theatre events, as well as receiving the outstanding theatre student award for two years. He plans to attend UT Chattanooga.

Billie Anne Ward, yearbook business manager and secretary of the SADD Club, received the medal for academic excellence in English I. Billie Anne plans to attend UT Chattanooga where she will major in nursing.

Ryan Weiss was a four-year soccer player and a member of Operation Smile Club, SADD Club, and Chemistry Club. Ryan will attend UT Knoxville and major in pre-medicine.

Caroline White was a member of USJ Singers, Operation Smile Club, SADD Club, and Key Club. Caroline will attend UT Chattanooga and major in public relations.

Grant Whitsitt, a Head of School Scholar, was a graduate of Leadership University and attended the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts. He served as the National Art Honor Society president. Grant will attend the Savannah College of Art and Design to major in animation.

Clare Williams was a member of the two-time state championship soccer team. She attended the Governor’s School for International Studies and received the Sewanee Award for Excellence in Writing. She also was selected to the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir five times and the Tennessee All-State Choir her senior year. Clare will attend Union University.

Matthew Wing was named to the All-West Band and has performed in every musical since his freshman year. He was a member of the National Honor Society and the varsity football team. Matt plans to attend Belmont University.

John Wilson, II, an Eagle Scout, was a five-year member of the golf team and served as captain his senior year. He placed second in the Division IIA state finals in golf and was a member of the National Honor Society. John will major in pre-dentistry at UT Chattanooga.

Chase Winslow, a four-year basketball player named to the All-District team, was chosen Most Improved Player his freshman year and awarded the Best Three-Point Shooter Award and the Bruin Award. He was a member of the SADD Club and Operation Smile Club. Chase will attend UT Chattanooga.

Zuzanna Wojitas, an AP Scholar, was a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society. She was also a member of the softball team and the volleyball team captain. Zuzanna will attend UT Chattanooga.

William Wright, a Boys State delegate, was a member of the National Honor Society and football team. He received academic awards in Spanish I, Honors Spanish II, and Honors Spanish III, where he received the medal for highest academic achievement. Will plans to attend Union University.

Madeline Adams will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. She is treasurer of Mu Alpha Theta, the Art Club, and the National Art Honor Society. She is historian of the Spanish Club and a member of the National Honor Society.

Zachary Austin, president of Mu Alpha Theta, attended Governor’s School for the Sciences and Engineering. He also received the academic medal for the highest grade in AP Chemistry. Zach will attend UT Knoxville.

Evan Baker, a National Merit Commended Student, is a founding member and president of USJ’s Chemistry Club and a charter member and chaplain of the Science National Honor Society. Evan won the Xerox Award for Innovation in Technology. He will attend the University of Rochester.

Taylor Barclay was a key player on USJ’s 2010 Division IIA state champion softball team. Taylor was named the tournament’s Most Valuable player and was selected for the 2010 Tennessee Sportswriters First Team All-State. Taylor plans to play softball at the University of Central Arkansas.

Samantha Blanton, Chemistry Club historian, is a member of the National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Samantha will attend Tennessee Technological University.

David Ross Blurton, a four-year varsity football player, was named to the 2010 Division IIA All-West/All-District Honorable Mention football teams. He also is a member of the French Club and the Haywood County Young Guns Skeet Club, which won the state championship in 2010. David plans to major in mechanical engineering at the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Shida Bonakdar, a member of the National Art Honor Society, won the MCA Award at USJ’s 2010 fashion show. She was voted “Most pkely to be Remembered” by her peers. Shida will attend Fontbonne University in St. Louis.

Elizabeth Breeden, a four-year varsity cheerleader and a team captain, was selected as a UCA All-American Cheerleader to perform in London’s New Years Day parade. Elizabeth was a Homecoming class representative twice, a Jackson Symphony ambassador for four years, and active in Young Life. Elizabeth will major in broadcast meteorology at Mississippi State University.

Thomas Burton, an Eagle Scout, attended Governor’s School for the Sciences. He placed first in the region and eighth in the state in the Tennessee Math Teachers Association math contest in Algebra II. He received the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Dallas.

Laura Butler, senior class secretary, is a member of the National Art Honor Society. She played varsity soccer for three years and ran track for two years. She plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Chloe Cantor, a four-year varsity cheerleader, is a member of the National Honor Society and USJ Concert Choir. She participated in the Spanish immersion trip to Costa Rica. Chloe will attend Mississippi State.

Courtney Cape, captain of the varsity cheerleading squad, is a three-time UCA All-American Cheerleader and was selected to become a UCA staff instructor this summer. Courtney also is a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership University. She will attend Southern Methodist University.

Gene Crews played varsity baseball for two years, and he is a member of the International Club. Gene will attend St. petersburg College in Florida.

Alex Crossett, Chemistry Club vice president, is the percussion section leader in USJ’s band. He was the bowpng team captain for two years. Alex will attend UT Chattanooga.

Meredith Crowder was a member of USJ’s state runner-up cross-country team in 2008 and was named to the 2010 All-Region cross-country team. Meredith will attend UT Knoxville.

Avery Cunningham, an AP scholar, will attend the Honors College program at DePaul University in Chicago. Avery attended writers’ institutes at both Washington University in St. Louis and Barnard College. She was a People To People Student Ambassador to Europe.

Mahmood Dardas, president of USJ’s Science National Honor Society and treasurer of the International Club, won the Academic Excellence Award in physics. He is a junior volunteer at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Mahmood will attend Purdue University.

Kelsey Darnall, a four-year member of the 4.0 honor roll, was a Volunteer Girls State delegate and named a Tennessee Leader of Tomorrow. Kelsey was selected to the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir four times and is a member of Tri-M Music Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, National Spanish Honor Society, and National Honor Society. She will attend UT Knoxville.

Luke David, a four-year varsity football player, was football captain his senior year, named to the All-Region team his junior and senior years, and named to the All-State second team his senior year. Luke also was a member of the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir. He will attend Murray State University.

Chase Davis plans to attend UT Chattanooga. He was voted “Cutest” by his peers.

Kaleigh Davis, a member of USJ’s 2010 state championship softball team, was a Homecoming class representative twice, was voted “Most Beautiful” by her peers, and was on the yearbook staff two years. Kaleigh will attend Mississippi State.

Guy Dement, a USJ student for 13 years, was a member of USJ’s trap team for two years. He will attend UT Chattanooga.

Harrison Donahoe, who will attend Rhodes College, is a charter member of USJ’s National Science Honor Society. He was the manager for the basketball team and an Honor Council representative. He placed second in the nation for the French National Contest for French I.

Christopher Elizer, who will attend UT Knoxville, is a member of USJ’s cross-country, track, and inline hockey teams. He was named to the Tennessee All-State Choir twice and All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir six times. Christopher, freshman and sophomore class president, was named “Wittiest” by his peers.

Davis Exum placed 19th in the state cross-country meet and qualified for state competition in track as a member of USJ’s 4x800 meter relay team. His peers voted him “Most Likely to Be Remembered.” He will attend UT Chattanooga.

Kasey Fleming, a five-year member of the softball team, was on USJ’s 2010 state championship team and named to the 2010 All-West Tennessee team. Kasey is a member of the National Honor Society and SADD Club. She will attend UT Knoxville.

Morgan Garner was a varsity cheerleader for three years and named to the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir twice. She is historian of the Environmental Club. Morgan is attending Mississippi State.

Taylor Gaston, a four-year varsity cheerleader, was named a UCA All-American Cheerleader her junior and senior years. She was in the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir three times. Taylor is president of the Environmental Club and on the 3.5 honor roll. She will attend King College.

Matt Giampapa played football and participated in school musicals all four years of high school. He was nationally ranked as a long snapper in football and named to the All-West Tennessee/All-Jackson Sun Honorable Mention football team. He is an honor roll student. Matt will play football at Michigan State.

Anna Giddens, yearbook editor, is a member of the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society. Her peers voted her “Most Changed.” Anna is attending Mississippi State.

Tucker Goodwin, who will attend UT Knoxville, is a member of Young Life, the Wolves Soccer Club, and the Spanish Club. He plays inline hockey and is active in his youth group at West Jackson Baptist Church. Tucker has owned and operated his own lawn care business for five years.

Shane Greene, a member of the National Thespian Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society, received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. Shane will attend UT Chattanooga.

Rebekah Grubbs, a Volunteer Girls State delegate, received the George Eastman Young Leaders Award. She is a member of the Student Government Association and attended a National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. Rebekah will attend Samford University.

Grady Hall, a four-year varsity football player, was captain his senior year. Grady is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta and played varsity basketball three years. He will attend UT Knoxville.

Alexandra Harlan received the Sewanee Award for Excellence in Writing and has published a poem. She is vice president of the SADD Club, chaplain of the National Art Honor Society and National English Honor Society, and a member of the National Honor Society. She received the academic medal in AP European History and U.S. History. Alexandra will attend Rhodes.

Rachel Harmon, a four-year member of the 3.5 honor roll, is vice president of the Environmental Club and a member of the National Art Honor Society. She participated in a National Young Leaders Conference. Rachel will attend UT Knoxville.

Mark Carson Harris was a three-year member of the USJ varsity golf team and a two-time qualifier for the Tennessee State Amateur Golf Tournament. In 2009, his team placed second in the State Championship Tournament. He was also a member of the 2008 state runner-up soccer team. Mark Carson will attend UT Chattanooga.

Olivia Harrison participated in several USJ musicals, community service projects, and Project Acts, a local mission trip. She received the Pastor’s Referral Award from Union. Olivia will attend Union University.

Audrey Hazlehurst was an All-State violinist and named All-State in cross-country four years in a row. She is vice president of the Student Government Association and won a Best of Mixed Media award in a regional art competition. Audrey will run cross-country at Union University.

Carly Hill, a seven-year member of Ballet Arts, attended the Governor’s School for the Arts in Dance. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National French Honor Society, and National English Honor Society. The UT Alumni Association recognized her as a Tennessee Leader of Tomorrow. She will attend Belmont University.

Russell Hollman is president of the Spanish Club and vice president of the Science National Honor Society. He attended a National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security. Russell will attend UT Knoxville.

Rebecca Hooper, a member of the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society, placed first in the State Envirothon in the groundwater management category and received the 2010 Ecology Award. Rebecca will attend Eckerd College.

Grace Howard, a Volunteer Girls State delegate, was named to the Tennessee All-State Choir. She was junior class president and is active in Fellowship Student Ministries. Grace will attend Auburn University.

David Howell is a member of the French Club and bowling team. He will attend Union University.

Sara Ivy, who will be in the Chancellor’s Honors program at UT Knoxville, is starting college with 30 semester hours from UT as dual credit courses. She studied Mandarin for two years and attended the Governor’s School for Math and Science twice.

Jade James-Gist, a finalist in the College Board’s National Achievement competition, will attend the University of California at Berkeley. Jade has been a violinist in the Jackson Youth Orchestra since eighth grade. She is president of the National Art Honor Society and Art Club and a member of Jack and Jill, Inc.

Rebecca Johnston was a member of USJ’s state championship tennis team. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta and has been on the honor roll. She is attending Mississippi State.

Christian Krause was a member of the robotics team that placed first in the region and went on to be a national finalist. He plans to attend UT Chattanooga.

Meg Lawrence, who will attend UT Martin, was manager of the girls basketball team for four years. She participated in several USJ musical productions, is a member of the USJ Concert Choir, and is chaplain of the Environmental Club.

Elliot Lea played varsity soccer three years and went on two mission trips to Brazil. He will attend UT Chattanooga.

Nicholas Leffridge, a varsity baseball player, was named to the All-Region Division IIA West baseball team in 2010 and was a member of the Kansas City Royals Scout Team in 2010. He will attend Walters State College.

Miller Martindale was a member of the varsity track and football teams, and he was co-editor of the USJ Literary Magazine. Miller was a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and Young Life. He will attend Mississippi State.

Kathryn McAlexander, yearbook editor, is a member of the National Honor Society and the Science National Honor Society. She played basketball and ran cross-country and track. Kathryn will attend Georgia Tech.

Bess McWherter, who will attend Vanderbilt University, was named the Jackson-Madison County Outstanding Student Female Athlete of the Year. She played basketball, softball, and volleyball all four years of high school. She is a member of the National Honor Society and National English Honor Society.

Nirali Mehta, senior class treasurer, is secretary of Mu Alpha Theta, the Chemistry Club, and the National Spanish Honor Society. She is on the 4.0 honor roll and received an Academic Excellence Award in Spanish Honors III. Nirali will attend York University.

Scott Melton, a varsity tennis player, was a member of the state semi-finalist tennis team in 2010. He has been a member of Young Life and played church-league basketball throughout high school. He also was a member of the Spanish Club. Scott will attend the University of Alabama.

E.J. Miller, a four-year varsity basketball player, was chosen to the All-State basketball team his junior year, named to the Division IIA West All-Region team his junior and senior years, and named to the District and Region teams his sophomore year. He also was team captain his senior year. E.J., who is on the honor roll, will attend UT Chattanooga.

Hamilton Moore is president of the Film Club and Tri-M Music Honor Society and a member of the SGA. He will attend UT Chattanooga.

Joey Moore is a three-year member of the All-State Band and has been principal trumpet for the Jackson Symphony Youth Orchestra for the past two years. He is assistant organist at Woodland Baptist Church and was awarded USJ’s Most Outstanding Bandsman in 2010. Joey will attend Union University.

Kwame Nuako will attend Notre Dame. He is a finalist in the College Board’s National Achievement competition and a National Merit Commended Student. He runs varsity track, is SGA president, and is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and National English Honor Society. Kwame was named to the Tennessee Theatre Association’s All-Star Cast for West Tennessee in 2008 and 2010.

Chirag Odhav, an Eagle Scout, received the 2011 Congressional Gold Medal Award and the 2010 Governor’s Volunteer Stars Award for his community service work. He received the Red Cross Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award in 2009 and 2010. Chirag will attend the University of California at Berkeley.

Abbey Orr, a four-year member of the 4.0 honor roll, was named to the Tennessee All-State Honor Choir. She is an All-State volleyball player and president of the Spanish National Honor Society. Abbey will attend Union University.

Jake Overbey has a scholarship to play baseball at the University of Mississippi. He won Tennessee’s Mr. Football Award his junior and senior years and was named an All-State quarterback. He was named Mr. USJ.

Mackenzie Paris, who will attend Auburn University, is a six-year member of the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir and was named to the Tennessee All-State Honor Choir twice. She is a member of the National Honor Society and is secretary of the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

Will Pierce, who will attend the University of Alabama, was on the honor roll throughout high school. He was a four-year starter for the varsity soccer team, which reached the state tournament twice, and a three-year starter for the varsity basketball team. Will is a member of the Science National Honor Society.

Halle Priester, a National Merit Commended Student, will attend Rhodes College. She is senior class president and vice president of the National Honor Society. A varsity volleyball player, she was co-captain of the team for two years.

Jacob Ragon, a Volunteer Boys State delegate, was a class representative on USJ’s Honor Council. Jacob was selected to the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir five times. He will attend UT Knoxville.

Maggie Rheney is president of the Key Club and a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. She was co-captain of the varsity volleyball team her senior year. Maggie will attend Samford University.

Haley Russell, who plans to attend UT Knoxville, has played varsity volleyball and basketball. She was selected to attend Governor’s School for the Arts and the Chamber’s Leadership University. Haley received the Rising Junior Artist Award and was named to the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir her freshman year.

Kyle Sisk is a four-year member of the baseball and football teams and a member of the French Club. He is attending Murray State.

Will Slack, an Eagle Scout, earned the Boy Scout’s Order of the Arrow. He was a member of USJ’s golf team and French Club. Will plans to major in forestry and wildlife management at Mississippi State.

Derick Stonecipher, who will attend the University of Mississippi, is a four-year member of the honor roll. He is a certified personal trainer. His peers voted him “Most Changed.”

Lauryn Brooke Tabor will attend the University of Mississippi. She was on the yearbook staff for three years and played volleyball.

Sophia Tan, who will attend Loyola University in New Orleans, received Gold and Silver Keys in the Scholastic Regional Art Competition and won the Westland Photography Award. She is president of the National English Honor Society and a member of Mu Alpha Theta, National Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society.

Heath Taylor is an Eagle Scout and played varsity football for four years. Heath will attend The Citadel.

Warner Thomas, who will attend Union University, is speaker of USJ’s Honor Council and vice president of the senior class. Warner is an AP Scholar and a member of the track team.

Alison Thompson, an AP Scholar, is secretary of the National Art Honor Society and Art Club. She also is a member of the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society and was on the cross-country and track teams for two years. Alison will attend Rhodes College.

Casey Tinker, who will attend UT Knoxville, was named to the 2010 Division IIA All-Region and All-Region Tournament teams in baseball. He also is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society and was Homecoming class representative his junior year.

Logan Wall won first place in the Madison County Congressional Art Competition. He is a baseball player and member of the Art Honor Society. He was on the Homecoming Court his senior year and was voted “Most Talented” by his peers. Logan will attend Union University.

William Wheeler, who will attend UT Knoxville, was selected to the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir four times. He is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and the Environmental Club.

Kayla Austin, a varsity soccer player, worked to promote local and state awareness for Invisible Children, which champions the cause of child soldiers in Uganda. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Kayla will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
 
Sara Barnes, who was accepted to the Tennessee Governor’s School for the Visual Arts, won a Silver Key for her art portfolio in the National Scholastic Art Awards and a Gold Key and Best Art Portfolio in the Regional Awards. Her fashion design was the audience favorite in Design for a Cure, a fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society. Sara will attend Parsons The New School for Design.
 
Emily Bearb, a junior volunteer for the Kiwanis Center, is a member of the varsity track and field team, the National Art Honor Society, and the French Club. She will attend Auburn University.
 
Charlie Brackeen is active in Young Life and was a three-year member of the varsity basketball team. He received the Most Improved Award in basketball. Charlie plans to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin.
 
Katie Brantley received superior ratings in the regional solo-ensemble competition. She is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, the International Club, and the Environmental Club. Katie will attend Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU).
 
Dusty Bright, captain of both the baseball and football teams his senior year, was a member of the 2009 All-West Team for both baseball and football. Dusty will attend Mississippi State University.
 
Katie Brown served as yearbook editor her senior year and was Lower School yearbook editor her junior year. She is vice president of the International Club and was voted “Most Spirited” by her classmates.
 
Kyle Bryan, a varsity baseball player since eighth grade, helped the team win the state runner-up title in 2007 and advance to the state tournament in 2008. Kyle will attend Union University.
 
Trey Buckley was a member of two state runner-up teams: USJ’s 2009 football team and the 2007 baseball team. Trey will attend UT Knoxville.
 
Courtney Byrd, a member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir and National Honor Society, won a scholarship for her fashion design in the American Cancer Society’s Design for a Cure. A varsity cheerleader, Courtney made the All-American Cheerleading Squad her junior and senior years. She will attend the University of Mississippi.
 
Zach Carver designed the Senior Celebration DVD for the annual senior moms’ luncheon. He is a member of the 2010 first-place Regional Envirothon Team and is vice president of the Comic Book Club. Zach will attend MTSU.
 
Josh Castellaw, an Eagle Scout, has been a member of the USJ band since fifth grade. He played in the pep band at football games and in the orchestra for Upper School musicals. Josh also played with the Jackson Community Band. He will attend Tennessee Tech University.
 
Anna Kate Craig, president of the National Art Honor Society, served as class secretary all four years of high school. Her fashion design won the top award at Design for a Cure. She will attend the University of Mississippi.
 
Cori Crenshaw is a USJ student ambassador and president of the International Thespian Society. She was selected for the All-Northwest Honor Choir, and her artwork was chosen for exhibit in the West Tennessee Regional Art Competition. She will attend MTSU.
 
Madeline Crocker was a member of the 2009 state championship tennis team. She won a Gold Key in the Mid-South Scholastic Art Competition. Madeline is a member of the National Honor Society and received the UT Alumni Award for Academic Excellence. Madeline will attend Louisiana
State University.
 
Hunter Day, a member of the National Honor Society, was a varsity basketball player for four years and a Girls State delegate. She was voted “Best All-Around” by her classmates. Hunter will attend Mississippi State.
 
Rachel Deaton, a four-year member of the varsity golf team, helped her team win the 2008 state championship. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Art Honor Society. Rachel signed to play golf at Austin Peay State University.
 
Ryan Denton, an Eagle Scout, was a four-year varsity football player and is a member of the track team. He also was a member of the first-place team in the 2010 Regional Envirothon. Ryan plans to attend MTSU.
 
Eric Dietz, a four-year varsity football player, helped his team win the 2009 state runner-up championship. He was selected for the All-State Honor Choir. Eric will attend the University of Mississippi on full scholarship.
 
Keith Dubina, a member of the USJ inline club hockey team his junior and senior years, also played varsity football his sophomore year. He will attend Tennessee Tech.
 
Ryan Easterling was selected to the All-Northwest Honor Choir and was captain of the inline club hockey team. He will attend UT Knoxville.
 
Steven Farhat, a four-year starter on the varsity soccer team, played both forward and mid-field positions. Steven will play soccer at Lambuth University.
 
Katie Beth Fesmire, a varsity softball player since eighth grade, signed to play softball at Union University. She had lead roles in USJ musicals and was selected to the All-Northwest Honor Choir five years in a row.
 
Frances Freeman, a graduate of Leadership University, is president of the Key Club. She will attend Mississippi State.
 
Katherine Anne Glover, a Girls State delegate, attended the Governor’s School for the Sciences. She is a member of the National Honor Society, and her team came in second place in the Regional Envirothon. She will attend the University of the South.
 
Yurick Griggs was named to the All-District Team in basketball and received the Links Leadership Medallion Award. He is a member of the Movie Club, Spanish Club, and Art Club. Yurick will attend the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
 
Nathan Grimm, president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, was selected to the All-State Honor Choir for the last three years. Nathan attended the Governor’s School for the Arts in Vocal Concentration and was Student Government Association treasurer his sophomore year. He will attend King’s College in New York City.
 
Morgan Hancock, National Honor Society treasurer, was a speaker at the Annual Methodist Conference. She was a Junior Rotarian and named a UT Leader for Tomorrow. Morgan will attend UT Chattanooga.
 
Clay Harbin, an All-State golfer, was captain of the varsity boys golf team. He is on the honor roll and a member of the Key Club. Clay signed to play golf at UT Martin.
 
Annabeth Hayes, a graduate of Leadership University, is an AP Scholar, president of the Spanish Club, and an alum of the People to People Leadership Program. Annabeth will attend Rhodes College.
 
Amber Helms, an honor roll student, attended Governor’s School for the Arts. She is a member of the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society. She will attend the Douglas Education Center.
 
Catherine Hudson, a graduate of Leadership University, was team captain of the girls soccer team her junior and senior years. She is a three-year member of the National Honor Society and was voted “Miss USJ” by her peers. Catherine will attend UT Knoxville.
 
Carly Ibach is a junior volunteer at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital and a four-year Jackson Symphony ambassador. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Carly will attend the University of Alabama. She received an Alumni Honors Scholarship from Alabama.
 
Huey James, a member of the Art Club, is undecided about his college choice.
 
Tyler Jones is captain of the boys soccer team and a member of Mu Alpha Theta. He went on the Spanish immersion trip to Costa Rica in 2008 and was a kicker on the varsity football team. He will attend UT Knoxville.
 
Rachel Jordan, a professional model since 2007, was the 2010 cover artist for the American Medical Association Christmas Sharing Card and a featured survivor finalist for the American Heart Association’s Go Red campaign. Rachel is a member of the National Art Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society. She will attend the University of Mississippi and receive a choral scholarship.
 
Chelsea Kee, an AP Scholar, was a People to People Student Ambassador to Japan. She won first place in the Tennessee Math Teachers Association (TMTA) regional competition in Advanced Topics and Calculus and third place in Algebra II. She also won an acting award for her lead role in “Annie Jr.” Chelsea will attend Tennessee Tech.
 
Logan Kirby, a member of the 2009 Envirothon team, was on the bowling team and had perfect attendance at USJ throughout high school. He will attend Jackson State Community College.
 
Cheyenne Kirk, a graduate of Leadership University, played varsity baseball for three years and was a member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir. He was voted “Best Personality” by his peers. Cheyenne will attend Mississippi State.
 
Carey Beth Kirkland is captain of the varsity cheerleading squad, business manager for the yearbook, and vice president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She also was selected to the All-State Honor Choir. Carey Beth will attend UT Knoxville.
 
Stephanie Kurth, president of the National Spanish Honor Society, was selected to the All-Northwest Honor Choir and is a member of the National Honor Society. She is active in St. Mary’s Catholic Church youth group. Stephanie will attend the University of Dallas.
 
Hannah Lifsey, an Advanced Placement Scholar with Honor, attended Governor’s School for the Arts and was an Exchange Club Student of the Month. A member of the National Honor Society, Hannah will attend Centre College.
 
Wil Little played on the varsity baseball team for four years and was a varsity football player for two years. Wil plans to attend the University of Mississippi.
 
Austin Long, a swimmer and cross country runner, was captain of the cross country team and a state-qualifying cross country runner. He also was a Memphis Swim Club champion swimmer. Austin will attend UT Chattanooga.
 
Jordan Marley, a varsity basketball player for four years, was given the “Unsung Hero” award in basketball her junior and senior year. She will attend Mississippi State.
 
Austin Martindale is an All-State football player and was named MVP of the All-Star Toyota Football game. Austin was an alternate to Boys State and came in third in the 2009 state 400-meter track meet. He will attend Mississippi State.
 
Kate McKnight, Student Government Association president, received a Best Actress award and was a member of the varsity track and field team for five years. She will attend the University of Evansville in Indiana.
 
Conor McMahon, goalkeeper for the varsity soccer team, is chaplain of the Movie Club and a member of the French Club. Conor will attend the University of Alabama.
 
Walker McWherter, a Mr. Football State finalist, was named All-State in football. He is a Leadership Jackson graduate and was a delegate to Boys State. He will attend Rhodes.
 
Halie Miller, who signed to play basketball at Bethel University, was named to the 2010 All-District Team in basketball and was named USJ’s Most Valuable Player for the 2009 and 2010 seasons. Halie was one of 20 seniors selected to play in the 2010 West Tennessee All-Star Basketball game.
 
Nicole Mitchell, a four-year varsity soccer player, was named to the All-District Team in soccer. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Nicole will attend Florida Gulf Coast University.
 
Shelby Moore was a member of the first-place Regional Envirothon team. She also participated in Milan Vineyard’s Week of Missions. Shelby will attend Bethel.
 
Sara Muir, an All-District basketball player, was a member of USJ’s 2009 state championship two-mile relay team. She is yearbook editor and a High School Student Athlete of the Year as USJ’s representative to the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame. She will attend Mississippi State.
 
Roger Murray, an honor roll student, was named to the All-District Football Team and the All-West Tennessee Honorable Mention Football Team. He also is a member of the Spanish Club. He will attend UT Knoxville.
 
Kendall Nelson had her artwork selected into the West Tennessee Art Competition. She is a member of the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society. Kendall will attend Mississippi State.
 
Hannah Newmon has been a volunteer at Jackson-Madison County General and Regional hospitals for three years. She is a member of the National Art Honor Society and is a five-year varsity tennis player. She will attend Mississippi State.
 
Colton Norton, class salutatorian, is a National Merit Commended student and an AP Scholar. Colton won five state championships in tennis, including both the singles and doubles championships in 2009. He was a state finalist for the Wendy’s Heisman High School Award and also won the Sewanee Writing Award. President of the Senior Class, Colton will attend UT Knoxville.
 
Preston Overbey, a varsity baseball, football, and basketball player, was named to the All-West Tennessee and All-District teams in both baseball and football. He will play baseball at the University of Mississippi.
 
Neel Patel, a National Merit Scholarship finalist, won first place in Algebra II in the TMTA regional math competition. He was captain of USJ’s team in the UTM Science Bowl, won the Renu Bausch & Lomb Science Award, and was named an AP Scholar with Distinction. Neel will attend Emory University.
 
Madison Patey, who was named three times to the All-State Girls Tennis Team, has led the USJ varsity girls tennis team since eighth grade, including the 2009 state championship team. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Madison has signed to play tennis at the University of North Alabama.
 
Jay Michael Patterson was a member of USJ’s state runner-up championship golf team in both 2007 and 2009. He is on the Youth Leadership Board at Northside United Methodist Church and was a member of the church’s Nicaraguan mission team. Jay Michael will attend the University of Mississippi.
 
Brad Pearson, a four-year varsity football player, is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Art Honor Society. He will attend UT Knoxville.

Alex Phillips, an SGA officer, won three scholastic Silver Keys in the Mid-South Scholastic Art Competition, two in her junior year and one as a senior. A graduate of Leadership University, she was voted “Most Talented” by her peers. Alex will attend Parsons The New School for Design.

Matt Weiner, an honor roll student, is a member of the National Honor Society, National French Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society. A varsity football player, Matt was named to the 2009 All-State Football Team. Matt will attend UT Knoxville.

Cheryl Alexander, a varsity cheerleader for three years, is also a member of the National Art Honor Society. She will attend UT Martin.

Richard Altfeld attended high school in Israel his junior year. He had lead roles this year in two USJ plays. Richard will attend Indiana University in Bloomington.

Katherine Anthony, a Volunteer Girls State delegate, is president of the French National Honor Society and a four-year varsity cheerleader. She will attend the University of the South/Sewanee.

Andres Arreaza is Spanish Club president, a member of the National Honor Society, and on the honor roll. He will attend UT Knoxville.

Karter Atkins, a member of the varsity soccer team, plans to attend Jackson State Community College.

Brad Barclay played USJ baseball for four years. He won his first drag race at Memphis Motorsports Park when he was 16. Brad plans to attend UT Martin.

Todd Bateman, a Boys State alternate, was named to the 2008 All-West Tennessee Second Team and the 2008 All-Region Team for football. Todd was Homecoming King. He will attend UT Knoxville.

Amanda Beal, who plans to attend Asbury College in Kentucky, is Bible Club vice president. She was selected to the All-Northwest Honor Choir three times and received USJ’s “With a Song in My Heart” Award.

Katherine Bell, a five-year varsity golf player, was a member of USJ’s 2008 state championship golf team and was named All-State in golf the same year. She is a member of the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society. She has signed to play golf at Tennessee Technological University.

Rebecca Bell is a member of the yearbook staff, National Honor Society, and National Art Honor Society. She will attend Louisiana State University.
Shelby Black, co-captain of the varsity cheerleading squad, was a cheerleader for four years. Shelby won USJ’s rising junior artist and rising senior artist awards. She will attend Union University.

Alexandra Blanton, AP Environmental Science medalist, was a member of the regional and state Envirothon teams. Alex won the Lambuth Art Merit Award and is secretary of the National Art Honor Society and Art Club. She will attend Mississippi University for Women.

Alex Camp, a four-year varsity soccer player, was selected to the All-Northwest Honor Choir four years in a row. He is a member of the Spanish Honor Society and went to Costa Rica for two summers to study Spanish. He plans to attend the University of Mississippi.

Lorrie Carlisle plans to attend Lambuth University on a soccer scholarship. An honor roll student, she was voted “Most Athletic” by her peers.
Emma Centurion, Class Essayist, won a Gold Key in the Scholastic Art Competition. A 4.0 honor roll student, Emma is president of the National Spanish Honor Society and historian of the National Honor Society. She will attend UT Knoxville.

Gillis Chandler was a varsity football player for four years, a baseball player for two years, and a member of the bowling team. He also participated in the ping-pong club. He plans to play ball at Jackson State Community College.

Elizabeth Crowder, a National Merit Commended student, was named All-State in soccer for both 2007 and 2008 and was named The Jackson Sun’s Goalkeeper of the Year for 2008 in soccer. An artist, Elizabeth also won a Gold Key in the Scholastic Art Competition. A Wendy’s Heisman High School Scholar, Elizabeth will attend Louisiana State University.

Jared Davis, a varsity baseball player, was a member of the 2008 All-West Tennessee First Team and elected to the 2009 National Team for the Southeast Region by baseballclearinghouse.net. He was selected “Best Personality” by his peers. Jared will attend Union University.

Cole Dement was a member of the Envirothon team. He played varsity golf for two years and was on the trap team for three years. He will attend UT Chattanooga.

Grant Diffee, a member of the National Honor Society, was named All-Region in football and played varsity basketball four years. He plans to attend Mississippi State University.

Blair Duke, a Girl Scout Gold Award recipient and an honor roll student, has volunteered more than 470 hours of community service. She was a counselor in training at the Girl Scout’s Camp Hazlewood. She will attend Mississippi State University.

Anna Evans, a Volunteer Girls State delegate, is a member of the National Art Honor Society. She was voted “Best Personality” by the senior class. She will attend UT Martin.

Ross Ferrell was a varsity football player and on the Envirothon team. He will attend UT Chattanooga.

Benjie Fesmire, a Leadership University graduate, was named All-State, First Team, in baseball in 2007. Benjie is a member of the National Honor Society and is a six-year veteran of the All-Northwest Honor Choir. A Wendy’s Heisman High School Scholar, he will attend Union University.

Zach Fisher, a member of the National Honor Society and National Art Honor Society, won the 2007-2008 Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award from the American Red Cross. He will attend the College of Architecture and Design at UT Knoxville.

Aly Giddens, a varsity basketball player, earned honorable mention on the All-West Tennessee team for basketball. She is a member of the French Club, SADD Club, Key Club, and Junior Nationals Basketball Team. Aly will attend Union University.

Stephen Gilley, an Eagle Scout, is a Leadership University graduate. He was captain of the varsity football team and a Boys State delegate. Stephen will attend Rhodes College with an academic scholarship.

Emily Gilmour is secretary of the Student Government Association, vice president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, president of the French Club, and vice president of the National Honor Society. Emily will attend McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Connor Gilroy, Class Valedictorian, is a National Merit Finalist and an AP Scholar with Distinction. He also was third chair flute in the All-West Senior High Blue Band and won first place in the state in the TMTA geometry competition. He plays in the Jackson Symphony Youth Orchestra. Connor will attend the University of Chicago.

Jack Glenn played baseball for USJ for four years and was on the second-place team in the regional Envirothon. He will attend Louisiana State University.

Ann Marie Graham, Class Salutatorian and a National Merit Finalist, won four Silver Keys, one Gold Key, and a second place in the Senior Division of the Scholastic Art Awards. She was Homecoming Queen and won the Bill Moss Vanderbilt Award as a junior. She will attend the University of Georgia.

Sam Grant, an eight-year member of the Bruin Band, won the 2009 National Louis Armstrong Jazz Award and is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Sam was a member of the FIRST Robotics Liberty Team, which won the Regional Rookie All-Star Award and Regional Finalist No. 2 Award. Sam will attend Jackson State Community College.

Hewitt Hanafee, yearbook editor, is a member of the National Honor Society and the Key Club. An honor roll student, Hewitt will attend the University of Miami in Florida.

Justin Harrison, a four-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir, is Student Government Association chaplain and a member of the National Honor Society. He is a junior volunteer at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Justin will attend Union University.

Chris Haynes was a lineman on the varsity football team for four years and was named Defensive Runner-up All-Region for football. He was a member of the Envirothon team. He will attend Mississippi State University.

Thomas Head, a National Merit Commended Scholar, won first place in precalculus at the Regional TMTA Math Contest. Thomas is chaplain of the National French Honor Society and a three-year member of the National Honor Society. He was a member of both the All-Northwest Honor Choir and All-West Band. He will attend Birmingham-Southern College.

Elizabeth Hooper was a varsity cheerleader and co-captain her senior year. She will attend the University of Memphis.

Logan Jolley, a Leadership University graduate, was a five-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir and was chosen for the All-State Choir. She will attend Middle Tennessee State University.

Rachel Kirkendol logged more than 1,100 community service hours at West Tennessee Healthcare. A member of the National Honor Society, she attended USJ for 14 years. She will attend Union University.

Karissa Kramer had her artwork accepted into the Humboldt juried art competition and received the art award during her junior and sophomore year. Karissa attended the Memphis College of Art last summer. She will attend Middle Tennessee State University.

Lauren Layman participated in cheerleading nationals in Orlando, Florida, during her sophomore and junior years. She will attend Union University.

Trey Lynch, an Eagle Scout and Leadership University graduate, had artwork accepted into the West Tennessee Regional Student Art Contest and the UT Martin Student Art Show. He plans to attend UT Martin.

Hunt Magee is Senior Class president and a four-year member of the varsity tennis team. He helped USJ win two state tennis championships. Hunt is a member of the National Honor Society. He plans to attend Union University.

Katie Mansfield, a member of the National Honor Society, was named All-District and All-Region in volleyball in both her junior and senior years. She was voted “Wittiest” by the senior class. Katie is attending UT Knoxville and received the Volunteer Scholarship.

Allisson Mansur, a foreign exchange student from Brazil, is on the tennis team and active in First United Methodist youth group. After he returns to Brazil, he plans to apply to colleges in the United States.

Douglas Mathis, an Eagle Scout, was part of a mission team to help rebuild New Orleans. Douglas played church league basketball and was named “Cutest” by the senior class. He plans to attend UT Knoxville.

Michael McDaniel, a four-year starter on the varsity soccer team, is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and the National Art Honor Society. He also played varsity golf four years. Michael will attend Tennessee Technological University.
 
Lauren McGee was selected for the All-Northwest Tennessee Honor Choir three times and is treasurer of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. She plans to attend Union University.

Thomas McKnight, an Eagle Scout, attended the Tennessee Governors School for the Visual Arts. A four-year soccer player, he was captain his senior year. He is president of the National Art Honor Society and vice president of the French Honor Society. He will attend the University of Arkansas.

Sydney McVay, an honor roll student and soccer player, was a member of USJ’s 2007 state runner-up soccer team. She will attend the University of Arkansas.

Laura Micetich, president of the Student Government Association, was stage manager for the high school musical department and participated in 12 different Upper and Middle School musicals. She also helped with USJ summer theater camps. She will attend the University of British Columbia.

Dustin Nichols is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. He will attend UT Chattanooga.

Eduardo Ocampo, a foreign exchange student from Colombia, is a member of the varsity soccer team and is active in Young Life. After he returns to Colombia, he plans to apply to colleges in the United States.

Agnes Oshiro attended Tennessee Governors School for the Sciences and is a member of the orchestra and band. She will attend the University of California at Davis.

Alisha Patel, a Key Club and SADD Club member for four years, is Key Club vice president and was a Homecoming Senior Class representative. Active in the Hin-du Temple, she will attend the University of Memphis.

Jordan Perchik, a four-year member of the varsity tennis team, was president of the class for both his sophomore and junior years and chancellor of the Comic Book Club. His peers voted him Mr. USJ. An AP Scholar, Jordan will attend Rhodes College.

Alexandra (Lexie) Poole is a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. She will attend Emerson College in Boston.

Will Purcell, a varsity football and soccer player, was the 2008 Region 8-2A Football Kicker of the Year and 2008 All-West Tennessee 1st Team Football Kicker of the Year. His peers voted him “Best to Take Home to Parents.” He will attend Mississippi State University.

Sloane Roberts volunteered many hours at Humboldt General Hospital. He plans to major in computer science at UT Chattanooga.

Nick Schmidt, named Swimmer of the Year in 2008, will attend Johns Hopkins University and be a member of the college swim team. In swimming, Nick also was a sectional regional qualifier, a Southeastern regional qualifier, and a Memphis Swim Conference champion.

Marshall Seals, a graduate of Leadership University, is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. He was a member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir six years in a row. He will attend UT Knoxville.

Parwinder Singh wrote poems for the yearbook and was active in the art club. He plans to attend Jackson State Community College.

Danny Smigielski, a Boys State delegate, was All-State in football his junior and senior years and All-Region in soccer his junior year. He is a member of the National Honor Society. Danny will attend the University of Alabama.

Ashley Smith, a National Achievement Commended Scholar, is president of the National Honor Society and was named Miss USJ by her peers. Ashley won a scholarship from the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame and was given a Sports Orthopedics & Spine Scholar Athlete Award. Ashley plans to attend UT Knoxville.

Nicholas Stuart, a four-year varsity soccer and football player, is an honor roll student and a member of the USJ Singers. He won academic awards in Algebra I and Physics. He will attend Mississippi State University.

Jamie Updike, a three-year member of the volleyball team, was co-captain her senior year. Jamie was the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Award winner her sophomore year and is treasurer of Students Against Destructive Decisions. She will attend Xavier University in Cincinnati on scholarship.

Andrew Wagner, a National Merit Finalist, is vice president of the Student Government Association and was given a “Best Actor” award. He will attend Wheaton College in Illinois.

Clayton Williams was selected to the All-Northwest Honor Choir each year since seventh grade. He is a two-year member of the USJ Chamber Choir, was president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society his junior year, and participated in many musical productions. Clayton will attend Union University.
Andrew Williamson, an Eagle Scout, was a volunteer at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Andrew is a member of the tennis team. He attended the Language Institute in Costa Rica for two summers. Andrew will attend Auburn University.

John Wills, a varsity baseball player, was named to the All-West Team and All-Tournament Team in 2008 and the All-West Tournament Team in 2007 when he also was named the tournament’s most valuable player. John will play baseball at Jackson State Community College.

Natalie Wilson, a Leadership University graduate and Student Government Association treasurer, attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in Boston. She logged more than 700 community service hours. She was selected to the All-Northwest Honor Choir six times. Natalie will attend Belmont University.

Mallory Yancey, co-editor of the yearbook and Key Service Club president, was named All-District in basketball. Mallory plans to major in nursing at Union University.

Rachel Young is a cheerleader, secretary of the Senior Class, and a member of Young Life. She will attend the University of Memphis.

A member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir, Haley Anderson won “Best Actress” for her Teen Theater role of Maria in The Sound of Music and USJ’s sophomore vocalist award. She participated in the Intensa Spanish Immersion Program in Costa Rica. Haley will attend Freed-Hardeman on scholarship.

Simon Arcuri, a member of the state baseball champion team, has not yet decided on where he will attend college.

Anthony Baggett, a member of the National Honor Society and National Beta Club, will graduate USJ with a 4.0. He is a graduate of Haywood County’s youth leadership program. Anthony will attend Mississippi State University on an academic scholarship.

Thomas Baudo, a four-year member of the USJ honor choir and varsity football team, also is a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. He was voted “Cutest” by the senior class. He has a choral/vocal scholarship at the University of Mississippi.

Chelsey Beal, who is graduating with high honors, is a Girls State delegate and a five-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir. She has accepted $50,000 in scholarships at Centre College in Kentucky.

Dane Beasley, who plays varsity football, will attend the University of Mississippi.

An Eagle Scout, Nathan Bell plays both varsity football and baseball and is a USJ singer. He will attend the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Tanisha Berryman, vice president of her freshman class, was runner-up for the Hugh O’Brien Leadership Award and has attended several workshops on leadership. She plans to attend the University of Mississippi.

Hunter Bratton, an AP Scholar and Boys State delegate, has more than 500 hours of community service. He will attend Wake Forest.

Laura Burton is president of the National Honor Society, a member of the soccer and track teams, a Girls State delegate, and a participant in the Intensa Spanish Immersion Program in Costa Rica. She will attend Brigham Young University.

A founding member of USJ’s trap shooting team, Lee Ann Coyne is a graduate of Leadership University, is president of the International Club, and was stage manager/assistant director of the Upper School fall play, Trickeries of Scapin. She plans to attend UT Chattanooga.

Frank Crocker, who spent his senior year studying abroad in Spain, is a member of USJ’s 2006 State Champion tennis team. He will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Katie Currie is a four-year member of the National Art Honor Society and a varsity cheerleader. She was voted “Best All Around” by her peers. She will attend UT Knoxville.

A National Merit Finalist, Lauren Dowling will attend Dartmouth College. She has a 2360/2400 SAT score and won second in the state and third in the nation on the National Spanish Exam. Lauren is class valedictorian.

An Eagle Scout, Will Duke attended Vanderbilt’s PAVE program and won USAA math, leadership, and service awards. He will attend the University of Alabama.

An AP Scholar and Boys State delegate, Joey Easterling is a four-year member of the Jackson Symphony Youth Orchestra. He sang on the All-Northwest and All-State Honor Choirs. Joey will attend Union University.

Thomas Egan, a National Merit Commended Student and AP Scholar, has a $22,000 per year scholarship at Tulane University. He attended Governor’s School for the Sciences last summer.

A member of Teen Court, Suzanne Emery attended Governor’s School for the Fine Arts and the Intensa Spanish Immersion Program in Costa Rica. She is a winner in the Congressional Art Competition. She will attend Samford University on scholarship.
Matthew Farris plays varsity football and basketball, and is a USJ choral student. He holds office in St. Mary’s Church youth group. Matthew will attend UT Knoxville.

Ryan Flood, who studied abroad at the Intensa Spanish Immersion Program in Costa Rica, is a member of the Spanish and Key clubs. He will study computer programming at Tennessee Tech.

Trae Forsythe played drums in the band for seven years and participated in several USJ theater productions. He will attend UT Martin.

Tate Gray, USJ’s Wendy’s High School Heisman nominee, is an honor roll student and was named All-Region in football. Voted “Best All Around” by the senior class, he plans to attend UT Knoxville.

Faith Hitchon, a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, is a senior member of Ballet Arts and has attended several Nashville and Atlanta summer dance camps. Faith will attend Loyola University in New Orleans.David Hopper, who won the Bruin Award for golf four years in a row, is a member of USJ’s 2006 State Champion golf team. He has signed with Union to play golf.

Sarah Beth Hudson is a five-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir, an alternate to the All-State Honor Choir, and a Homecoming class favorite. She plans attend the University of Memphis.

William Hutchison is a six-year member of the Jackson Youth Orchestra, a five-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir, and a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society. He will attend the University of Mississippi on a choral and orchestra scholarship.

Landon Kail is a member of the first USJ trap team and several USJ clubs. His peers voted him “Most Changed.” He plans to attend the Citadel.

Aya Kato, a member of USJ’s State Champion girls doubles tennis team, won one gold and two silver keys in the Scholastic Art Competition. She also won first place in West Tennessee and second in the state in TMTA’s Algebra II competition. Voted “Most Talented,” Aya will attend Rhodes College on a fine arts scholarship.

Named All-Region in basketball, Haley King finished in the top 20 in the state golf tournament. She was voted “Most Outgoing” by the senior class. Haley plans to attend UT Knoxville.

Alex Kurth, a National Merit scholar and named All-West Tennessee in soccer, graduates with high honors. He competed six times in the National Piano Guild Competition. He will attend Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

Janie LaFont was a model for Varsity Cheer Catalog for four years and a cover model for Inside Cheerleading magazine twice. She is a member of the Homecoming Court. Janie plans to study fashion design at Columbia College of Arts in Chicago.

Megan Latimer, USJ’s 2007 female representative in the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame, is a member of the 2003 Class A State Tournament softball team and an eight-semester honor roll student. She will attend UT Martin on academic and softball scholarships.

A National Merit Commended Student, Andrew LeCroy is a varsity baseball player and earned the spot of first chair bass in the All-Northwest Tennessee Choir. He plans to attend Georgia Tech.

An AP Scholar, Misti Lewis is a member of the National Honor Society and a two-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir. She plans to attend Lambuth.

Will Lewis is a National Merit Commended Student and Presidential Scholar, and was named All-Region in football. His peers voted him “Most Likely to Succeed.” Will is class salutatorian and will attend UT, Knoxville.

Josh Liles, named to the 2004 and 2005 All-State baseball teams, will attend UT Knoxville on a full baseball scholarship. He also was named a 2004 and 2005 All-Region and All-West Tennessee football player.

Megan Mathis, who was accepted to the Governor’s School for the Visual Arts, was a cheerleader for two years and an Upwards cheerleader coach. She plans to attend the University of Alabama.

Melanie May won the Jackson Exchange Club ACE Award and the Bruin Award for cross country. She will attend Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C., on an academic scholarship. Her peers voted her “Best Personality.”

Maggie McCalmon, a competitive cheerleader, is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and the Spanish Club. She plans to study pharmacy at the University of Mississippi.

Elizabeth McGee, a five-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir, will attend Union University.

Marie-Catherine Mignault, a French foreign exchange student at USJ this year, has written a play and had a lead role in the play, Dead Poet’s Society. She plans to attend Dawson College in Montreal, Canada.

Becca Morris, named an All-State player in both basketball and softball, scored 1,811 career points in basketball at USJ – the second highest number of points in school history. A member of the National Honor Society, Becca will attend Bryan College on a basketball scholarship.

Christopher Muir, who will attend Delta State University on a football scholarship, is a four-year varsity football player. He also played baseball and ran track.

An All-State Orchestra member playing the oboe, Katharine Mullins is president of Students Against Destructive Decisions and a Girls State delegate. Katharine accepted more than $30,000 in scholarship to attend Mississippi College.

Kelly Nelson, a member of the varsity soccer and tennis teams and Mu Alpha Theta, attended the Intensa Spanish Immersion Program in Costa Rica. She is president of St. Mary’s youth group. Kelly plans to attend the University of Dallas.

An AP Scholar with Honors, Ashika Odhav has a second-degree black belt in Ninjutsu Martial Arts. She is a graduate of Leadership University and has volunteered more than 320 hours at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. She was accepted into a six-year bachelor’s and medical degree program at the University of Missouri at Kansas City. Ashika is class essayist.

Captain of the soccer team and an All-Region soccer player, Billy Pacaccio accepted soccer and leadership scholarships at Lambuth University. He was the Runner-of-the-Year in cross country.

Justin Parrish, a member of the National Honor Society, won academic certificates for math, physical science, and chemistry. He will attend Mississippi State University on an academic excellence scholarship.

Drew Patterson, who is active in USJ fine arts activities, was assistant director for Pirates of Penzance, dance captain for High School Musical, and president of the Film Club. He won the “Rising Star” award for Twelfth Night. Drew plans to attend UT Martin.

Haley Phillips, Art Club secretary, is a member of the SGA Spirit Committee, Mu Alpha Theta, the bowling team, and several other organizations at USJ. She will attend Samford University.

Chris Pitcairn, a four-year soccer player, is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Art Honor Society. He has an alumni scholarship to attend the University of Arkansas.

Kara Powell, a member of the National Honor Society and French Club, also is a three-year member of the West Tennessee GCA cheer squad and the 2007 national championship squad. She will attend Mississippi State University on an academic excellence scholarship.
A member of the Homecoming Court all four years, Lauren Radicioni is a member of the National Art Honor Society and has won art awards. She was voted “Most Beautiful.” She plans to attend the University of Mississippi on academic scholarship.
Ann Raines, Homecoming class favorite, plays varsity volleyball and is a member of the National Art Honor Society. She will attend the University of Mississippi.
A four-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir, Megan Seals is USJ’s writer for On the Ball Magazine and has worked nearly 300 hours of community service. She will attend UT Chattanooga.
Miss USJ and Homecoming Queen, Carrie Brown Smith was class vice president her junior and senior years and a delegate to Girls State. A four-year member of the varsity cheerleading squad, Carrie Brown will be a cheerleader at UT Knoxville.

Junior and senior class president, George Smith is an Eagle Scout, an All-State football player, and a member of the National Honor Society. He will attend Rhodes College on an academic scholarship and play football.

Volleyball player Lauren Smith was named to the 2005 All-West volleyball team, the 2006 All-District volleyball team, and the 2006 All-State volleyball second team. She plans to attend Union University.

Timothy Stewart, who plays golf and basketball, is an all-conference basketball player. He plans to attend Francis Marion University.

Chris Strazzella, a four-year member of the varsity basketball team, is team captain and Bruin Award winner this year. He’s also a five-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir and has worked more than 200 community service hours. Chris will attend the University of Memphis.

Adriana Subia was a varsity cheerleader and participated in USJ’s High School Musical. She helps to teach art at the Lower School. Adriana will attend UT Chattanooga.

A member of Sinfonia Strings Orchestra, Janie Sun is a four-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir. She sang with Belmont University’s choir and volunteers at a medical clinic. She will attend the University of Alabama.

Wade Thomson, an Eagle Scout, is a four-year varsity football player and won USJ’s achievement award in chemistry. He is headed to UT Chattanooga.

Kathryn Treneff, a National Merit Commended Student and a 2005 finalist for the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad Competition, was a winner in the American Invitational Mathematics Examination and studied at the Intensa Spanish Immersion Program in Costa Rica. She will attend UT Knoxville.

A member of the 2006 State Runner-Up soccer team, Ashley Turner also is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Art Honor Society. She will attend Bellarmine University on scholarship.

An AP Scholar, Josh Turner attended the Intensa Spanish Immersion Program in Costa Rica last summer and was freshman class president. He plans to study nursing at Union University.

Gregory Updike, National Merit Commended Student and Spanish Club president, attended the Intensa Spanish Immersion Program in Costa Rica and was named “Best Actor” in two USJ plays. Greg won the Hugh O’Brien Leadership Award and was one of two youth representatives for the Catholic Diocese of Memphis. He is headed to Georgia Tech.

Morgan Walley, a Girls State delegate, is a member of the 2006 All-State soccer team, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Art Honor Society. She will play soccer at UT Martin on academic and athletic scholarships.

John Watts, a graduate of Haywood County’s youth leadership program, has held several class offices, is a four-year honor roll student, and is a member of the National Honor Society. He has received several scholarships, including full tuition, to attend the University of Alabama.

Mac Weaver, an Eagle Scout, studied at Oxford University. He will attend the University of Mississippi.

Taylor West, a band member for seven years, has won numerous acting awards. He attended the Governor’s School for the Arts in Theater. He will attend Hendrix College.

Caroline Yelverton, who was accepted to the Orpheum Theater’s Summer Institute, is a five-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir and won a USJ “Best Actress” award. She will attend Murray State University.

Meera Yogesh attended the Intensa Spanish Immersion Program in Costa Rica. She is a member of Mu Alpha Theta and several USJ academic honor societies and will work as a page with State Sen. Roy Herron this month at the Tennessee General Assembly. Meera will attend Lambuth University.

Rachel Young, a four-year volleyball player, is team captain and was named to All-Region and All-Tournament volleyball teams. She is yearbook editor and was voted “Most Spirited” by her peers. She will attend MTSU.

Reid Young is a six-year member of the All-Northwest Honor Choir and a four-year member of the football team. Reid was class president for two years and ran track for three years. He will attend MTSU.

Mark Akin, All-State Honor Choir and AP Scholar, attended Governor’s School for the Arts in Music for Percussion and was voted “Most Talented.” He will attend Belmont University.

Jared Bell, an AP Scholar, placed third in the State Envirothon competition in the soils category. He will attend Louisiana State University.

n Molly Bingham, who was voted “Cutest” by her class and was a Class Favorite at Homecoming, played softball and volleyball. She will attend UT Knoxville.

Jessica M. Bond, a certified lifeguard, is in Who’s Who Among America’s High School Students. Before transferring to USJ for her senior year, she represented Haywood High School at the Business Professionals of America Conference. Jessica plans to attend the University of Memphis.

Cal Bowen, a National Merit Finalist, founded USJ’s Students on Fire, a Bible study group. Cal won the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Award. He will attend the University of Mississippi on an academic scholarship.

Elizabeth Brown was Student Government Association secretary, National French Honor Society president, and a Girls’ State delegate. Her class voted her “Best to Take Home to Parents.” She will attend Rhodes College on an academic scholarship.

Luke Burleson, captain of the football team and an AP Scholar with Honors, was named USJ Male Outstanding Athlete of the Year by the Jackson-Madison County Sports Hall of Fame. Luke, who also was voted “Mr. USJ,” will attend Union University on the Dean’s Scholar Award.

Oliver Butler, who has volunteered many hours in Jackson Madison-County General Hospital’s radiology department, will attend Jackson State Community College.

Catherine Camp is a vocalist at Kincaid-Gooch Studios and a Jackson Symphony Ambassador. She will attend UT Chattanooga.

Nicole Carver, a graduate of the Chamber’s Leadership University, is SGA vice president. She was voted “Most Spirited” by her class and was a Class Favorite for Homecoming. She will attend Middle Tennessee State University.

Branden Cox, a member of the Tri-M (music) Honor Society, was named Best Supporting Actor for USJ’s Murder in the House of Horrors and “Most Outstanding Sophomore Band Student.” He received the Don LaFont Sportsmanship Award. Branden will attend High Point University in North Carolina.

Bailey Crowder won the Silver Key Award in the National Scholastic Art Competition and other art honors. She participated in school musicals and was voted “Most Likely to be Remembered” by her classmates. Bailey will attend the University of Mississippi.

Kristen Currie, a National Merit Commended student, is SGA chaplain and cheerleading captain. Kristen, who was voted “Cutest” by her classmates, will study nursing at Samford University on scholarships.

Rebekah Davis, treasurer of the senior class, cheerleading captain, yearbook editor, and Bible Club president, will attend Mississippi State on an academic scholarship.

Will Dement, who played football and baseball at USJ, was football team captain and named All-Region/Punter of the Year for football. A Life Scout, Will was a three-year selection for the All-West Tennessee Honor Choir and named an All-State Honor Choir alternate this year. He will attend Union University on a baseball scholarship.

Russ Duck, a National Merit Commended student and an AP Scholar, was team captain and named All-Region for football. He will play football at Rhodes College on the Presidential Scholarship.

Allison East, who received third and sixth place in the 3200-meter relay at the Spring Fling in 2002 and 2003 respectively, also was a four-year member of the volleyball team, which went to state each year. Allison will attend Louisiana State University.

Worth Eubanks culminated his performances in eight USJ theater and musical productions with the role of Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie this spring. Worth, a Chamber Leadership University graduate, plans to attend Mississippi State University.

Allan Farrington-Hess, who participated in the Jackson Youth Orchestra for four years, is treasurer of the Spanish Club and a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, and Math Honor Society. He will attend UT Martin.

Cory Ferrell, goalie for USJ’s soccer team, is new to USJ this year. At his former school, he won an academic award in math, and was captain of his lacrosse team his junior year. Cory will attend Tennessee Wesleyan College on a soccer scholarship.

Katy Fisher, an honor roll student throughout high school, was voted “Friendliest” and was a Class Favorite at Homecoming. She placed third in the 2005 TSSAA Cheerleading Competition. Katy plans to attend Samford University.
Kate Gardner, a Chamber Leadership University graduate and Leadership University spokesperson, was voted “Most Flirtatious” by her class. She played Annie, in Annie, Jr. Kate will attend UT Chattanooga.

Nicholas Glover, who received the Scholastic Art and Writing Award, won a National Gold Key in art. Nick, a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, was freshman class president. He will attend Arizona State University.

Elizabeth Graves, who has 11 years of classical piano training, worked with Nicaraguan orphans through church-organized missions. A member of the National Honor Society, Elizabeth will attend Belmont University.

Jake Hanson, a USJ baseball player and a member of the Envirothon regional first-place team, was voted “Most Friendly” by his class. He will attend UT Chattanooga.
Jimmy Henson, a member of the USJ baseball team for four years and voted “Wittiest” by his class, will attend UT Chattanooga.

Beth Herriman, who competed in the State Envirothon for four years, participated in seven theatrical productions and was a member of the USJ softball team that won third place in the state. Beth will attend UT Chattanooga.

Will Hudson, a member of Mu Alpha Theta and the National Art Honor Society, is a Silver Key winner in the Mid-South Scholastic Art Competition. He will attend UT Chattanooga.

Sam Ivy, voted “Best Personality” by his class, played football and baseball in high school. An honor roll student, Sam will attend UT Knoxville.

Alex Kim, who helps manage his family’s Jackson Bowling and Family Fun Center, will study business at Lambuth.

Megan Klipfel, Senior Class president and Girls’ State delegate, was USJ’s nominee for the Wendy’s Heisman Award. She was voted “Best All-Around” by her class. Megan plans to run track at Wofford College.

Alex Kovalic, a Headmaster’s Scholar with a GPA higher than 4.0, was selected to the All-District team in basketball for two years and received first place in Advanced Algebra in the TMTA Regional Math Competition. He is a member of several scholastic honor societies. Alex will attend Rhodes College on the Presidential Scholarship.

Emily Lonon placed third in Small Varsity at the TSSAA Cheerleading State Competition her senior year and placed first in the competition her sophomore year. She was in the All-West Honor Choir and will attend UT Chattanooga.

Will Magee, a USTA-ranked tennis player and one of 18 players to represent Tennessee in the 2005 Southern Open, will be on a tennis scholarship at UT Martin.

Neena Malik, who is graduating with high honors, was a member of the state runner-up girls’ tennis team for three years. Neena is SGA treasurer and attended Governors’ School for the Sciences. She will attend Northwestern University.

Ward Martindale, an All-District, All-Region, and All-West Tennessee basketball player, is USJ’s all-time leading scorer in basketball. He was voted “Most Athletic” by his class. Ward will attend the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Laurel Meriwether, who was voted “Miss USJ,” is SGA president, Girls’ State delegate, and a member of the All-State Choir. She will attend Lambuth University on the Hyde Scholarship.

Rendell Mitchell, vice president of the sophomore class, is a Chamber Leadership University graduate, four-year football player, and three-year member of the band. He will attend Tuskegee University.

Melissa Morrison, voted “Wittiest” by her class, was a member of the 2005 Class A State Runner-Up basketball team and the 3200-meter relay team that placed sixth in the state in 2003. She will attend the University of Mississippi.

Spencer Nelson, an All-District and All-West Tennessee baseball player, will attend Volunteer State on a baseball scholarship.

David Pappis, who played football at USJ, competed in the 2006 Regional Envirothon and aided in Hurricane Katrina relief. He will attend Jackson State.

Emily Parrish, a member of the National, Art, and Spanish honor societies, played volleyball for four years. She has spent more than 11 weeks on foreign and local mission trips. Voted “Most Beautiful” by her class, Emily will attend Austin Peay State University on an academic scholarship.

Paritosh Patel, who participated in many community service projects and clubs at USJ while holding down a part-time job, will attend UT Knoxville.

Greg Pearson, who attended Governors’ School for the Arts in Vocal Performance, participated in 10 USJ plays and musicals. He was selected to All-West Honor Choir and All-Northwest Honor Choir for five consecutive years. Greg will attend Southeast Missouri State on a Regional Merit Scholarship and Visual and Performing Arts Scholarship for Theater and Dance.

Luke Presley, who attended Governors’ School for the Arts in Visual Art, won a Silver Key Award in the National Scholastic Art Contest. A member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, Luke will attend Belmont University.

John Saint Georges, soccer player and cross-country runner, was a counselor and raft guide at Blue Ridge Mountains Council in Virginia. He will attend Pellissippi State.

Laura Salazar, an All-State Choir member and Red Cross volunteer, has performed at Carnegie Hall. She has acted in numerous USJ theater productions. Laura will attend St. Louis University.

Tyler Salvucci, who placed in the top five at the TMTA Math competition for the past four years, was selected to Who’s Who Among American High School Students for four years. He is a member of Mu Alpha Theta, the National Honor Society, and the Spanish Honor Society. Tyler will major in biomedical engineering at Georgia Tech.

Justin Schmidt, a competitive swimmer, enjoys working on his family’s farm and serving as a deacon at church. Justin will study engineering at Purdue University.

Amanda Schomer, Lower School yearbook editor, is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish Honor Society. The stage manager for three fall plays, Amanda will attend Florida Southern College.

Rorik Seth, a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, the Spanish Honor Society, and the Art Honor Society, will attend Rhodes College.

Blake Shaver, a USJ student for 14 years, played basketball and won the Bruin Award his senior year. He plans to major in pre-law at UT Chattanooga.

Zach Smith, who competed in the regional Envirothon, played football and baseball. He was named Player of the Week twice by WNWS 101.5 FM. Zach will attend UT Chattanooga.

Kayla Stanfill, a volunteer for the Jackson Cerebral Palsy Center’s Therapeutic Riding Program, is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and other clubs. She will attend The University of the South.

Jamison Stewart, who is new to USJ this year, runs cross country and plays varsity soccer. Jamison will study ministry at Union University.

Addie Stone, who ran track for four years, was a member of the state 4x8 relay team for three years and the state 4x4 relay team for two years. She also played basketball and was a member of the 2005 state runner-up basketball team. She will attend the University of Mississippi.

Joanna Suddath, an All-State volleyball player, was voted “Most Athletic” by her class. President of the Key Club and a member of the National Honor Society, she will attend Wofford College on an athletic scholarship.

Julia Suddath, co-captain of the volleyball team, is a member of the National Honor Society and the National French Honor Society and was voted “Best Personality” by the senior class. Julia will attend Wofford College on academic and leadership scholarships.

Audra Taylor was a member of the 2005 state runner-up basketball team and the Spanish Honor Society. She was selected to the Homecoming court for four years and was voted “Most Beautiful” by her class. Audra will attend Belmont University.

Jon Taylor, an Eagle Scout and Leadership University graduate, is soccer team captain and an honor student. He will attend The University of the South.

William Teague, member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, was recognized on the National Honor Roll and by Who’s Who Among America’s High School Students. He will attend UT Knoxville.

Amanda Thompson, a five-year member of the varsity golf team, was named Tennessee’s Player of the Year for golf in the Vince Gill 15 to 18-year-old division. Voted “Most Outgoing” by her class, Amanda will attend Montreat College on a golf scholarship.

Charles Thompson, who played saxophone in the band for four years, attended the National Youth Leadership Conference on Defense, Intelligence, and Diplomacy in Washington, D.C. He ran track and was captain of the cross-country team. He will attend the University of Memphis.

Sonja Tomlin, a four-year member of Ballet Arts Inc., graduated from the Chamber’s Leadership University and attended Governors’ School for the Arts in Ballet. A member of the French Honor Society, Sonja will attend Agnes Scott Women’s College on an academic scholarship.

Alex Treneff is the owner of his own business in which he manufactures and sells model airplane kits. He serves as the webmaster for a model airplane club, played football, and volunteers at Skyfest Charity Air Shows. Alex will attend Middle Tennessee State University.

Clair Underwood, a member of SADD and the Key Club, also was a member of the fifth-place State Envirothon team. She will attend the University of Mississippi.

Grant Wallace, who attended Governors’ School for the Arts in Voice, has performed in numerous USJ and community theater productions. A Boys’ State delegate and AP Scholar with Honors, he was selected to the All-State Honor Choir for three years. Grant will study voice at the Blair School of Vanderbilt University.

Rebecca Wells, a member of the All-West Honor Choir for four years, participated in all of USJ’s stage productions and was a founding member of the Awana program at Christ Community Church. Rebecca will attend the University of the South.

Danielle White, a four-year softball team member and competitive cheerleader, attended USJ for 13 years. A member of SADD and the Film Club, she plans to attend Jackson State Community College.

Spencer Williams, noted for his perfect attendance at school since first grade, won the bowling championship in 2004 and was runner-up in 2006. He will attend Union University on a Tennessee Baptist Convention Scholarship.

Karen Wong, a National Merit Scholar, is a six-time Piano Guild National Member with superior ratings, an AP Scholar with Distinction, and Senior Class vice president. Karen will attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Margaret Jaco, Leadership University graduate and 11-year piano player, will attend Tulane University

Ben Jeter will attend the University of Tennessee at Martin

Sara Beth Johnson, Leadership University graduate, Hugh O’Brien Leadership Award recipient, four-year class officer, and Youth Symphony member, will attend Radford University in Virginia

Ryan Judd, SGA president and Bravo the Bruin, the school mascot, was appointed to the the U.S. Military Academy at West Point

Tiffany Kelly-Hollis, who attended Governors School for Music, participated in many USJ theater and musical productions, and member of the All-State Honor Choir two years in a row, will continue her music and theater interests at Catawba in North Carolina

Steven Kilboy, member of the All-Northwest Choir, 2005 Regional Envirothon’s first place team, and cross country team, will attend Mississippi State University with a voice scholarship

Sara Kirkland, member of the All-Northwest Choir, co-captain of the cheerleading squad, track team member, and honor roll student, will attend Belmont University

Daichi Kuno, a Japanese student, will attend college in Japan.

Tina Vaksdal, an exchange student from Norway who played USJ soccer and softball, will go to college in Norway

Will Wallace, varsity baseball player for five years and football player for four years, received an appointment at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., where he will play both baseball and football

Kristin Wheeler, National Merit student, AP Scholar, and who attended Governors School for the Humanities, will go to Rhodes College with an academic scholarship to double major in biology and Spanish

Kennedy White, member of USJ’s state champion baseball team, returned to USJ his senior year and will attend the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith on a baseball scholarship

Tyler White, Fellowship of Christian Athletes president and member of the football team, will attend UT Chattanooga

Sallie Williamson, a hospital volunteer each Sunday and a member of USJ’s state runner-up doubles tennis team, studied at Cambridge University in England last summer and will attend Boston University

As they graduated from USJ, members of the Class of 2002 planned to attend 32 different colleges and universities in 13 states, the District of Columbia, and England. They went to college with more than $660,000 in scholarships. Four of our student-athletes planned to play Division I sports. Ten percent of the senior class was recognized by the National Merit Foundation, while the top 20 percent of the class has an average of 28.9 on the ACT. Ten seniors were among the 23 AP scholars at USJ who were honored by the College Board for their scores on Advanced Placement exams.
