Arts at the U

Parents mingle and enjoy the artwork displayed throughout the upper school campus.

Six years ago, the Fine Arts Department here at USJ started a tradition. Visual and Performing Arts teachers across all three divisions wanted to showcase the students' hard work during the school year, and through this the Arts at the U was created. This is a  special night for the students, teachers, and their families. Unique artwork created by students is displayed throughout the school, giving the feel of an Art Gallery. Guests are entertained by the Middle and Upper School band students as they mingle about the Upper School Campus enjoying students' paintings, drawings, pottery and more. In the newly renovated library, the lower, middle, and upper school students perform scenes and songs from the play and musical productions that year. The night is capped off with the annual Pops Concert performed by the Upper School Combined Choir and the Jr Bruin Choir in the Blankenship Theater.

Not only can you view artwork and various productions that evening, but you can have dinner with your family. Food trucks from the local area are set up in the parking lot for you to enjoy.  Admission is free to the annual Arts at the U. All donations given that evening go to the Fine Arts Department to help purchase supplies for the teachers' classrooms or update any necessary equipment- such as instruments, stage lighting and more.

Arts at the U

The Arts program at USJ provides a chance to make new friends, join a family, and even discover who you are in the process. I cannot imagine my high school experience without the Arts!kelsa lunsford, senior
